Plattsburgh House Rental Photos and Description
2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6
This Mid-Century Modern home with 265ft of direct access to Lake Champlain is located among the cedars, on a lovely dead end road. The space is warm and inviting, true to its form as a relaxing family retreat, weekend getaway, or home away from home for the business traveler.
The 'Great Room' centers around a grand working stone fireplace, opens into the dining-kitchen area and out onto the screen porch and deck. The kitchen features a 6 burner dual-fuel stove, Ikea cabinetry, and a convenient, ample cooking space for an individual or a full family.
In the colder months, our home sleeps four comfortably (one king bed and one queen bed). All bedrooms open up to beautiful sunrises and views of Mt. Mansfield in VT. We also offer a pull out couch and ample room for air mattresses (often better suited for children and/or college kids) for bigger families. In the summer months, a separate cabin on the property makes a cozy and unique sleeping option for four additional people (twin bunk beds and a double bed). Our 1.5 acre lot accommodates tents and campers well to allow for larger family gatherings.
Our vacation home will be your own while you are enjoying your stay. You are welcome to eat, drink, read, and otherwise use everything you find.
Beach access allows for wonderful bonfires, swimming, and small craft boating (kayaks, canoes, sunfish, windsurfing). You will need to bring your own recreational equipment with you as the house is not equipped with kayaks, etc. for guest use. There is a great shop nearby that will deliver kayaks, paddle boards, etc. to our house and pick them up after your stay. Their website is www.kayakshackny.com and their phone number is 518-566-0505. We highly recommend them! Swimming is great…there is a rocky bottom…water shoes are not necessary but definitely help!
As Rich works just fifteen minutes away, in Plattsburgh, we will leave the house open for you and be a moment away should you need anything. For overnight guests, we will be happy to provide a light breakfast if desired. In that case, Rich will be stopping by to ensure that you are comfortable, happy, and well fed! All linens are provided.
For weekly rentals, we will plan to meet you at check-in so to welcome you and to ensure that you are well oriented to the property and set to enjoy a relaxing stay.

About Wendy Baker
Rich and Wendy are the lucky owners of this cozy vacation home on Lake Champlain. As hosts we look forward to having you enjoy our home independently, while providing you with any support you may need to ensure that your stay meets your needs. Although we live across the lake in Vermont, Rich works in Plattsburgh and is readily available should anything come up. Whether you are enjoying our home for a week, a weekend, or just an overnight drop in, we're sure that time spent in our house will leave you better than it found you just as it always does for us and our family.
On a personal note, we have four (yes four) college age kiddos between us and enjoy professional lives in engineering (Rich) and education (Wendy). Together, we enjoy exploring new places on our motorcycle, designing (Wendy) and completing (Rich) home improvement projects, catching live music performances and eating great food! Individually, Rich is happiest when he is singing acappella music and Wendy when she officiates high school basketball, walks 'the loop', or reads a good book (many of which are stored at the lake). We LOVE spending time at the lake house when we don't have guests. Mostly, we enjoy expanding our circle of friends...we look forward to meeting you!

Why Wendy Baker chose Plattsburgh
Lake Champlain has always been a home for both of us. Some of our favorite childhood memories stem from its lapping waves and family fun on its waters. Her sunrises leave us breathless. The tension in our shoulders disappears nearly the second we walk in the door.
What makes this house unique
We fell in love with our home the moment we stepped inside it. The property was formerly owned by a single family for 115 years prior to our purchasing it. The original owners in this family honeymooned on the spot, the next generation had an architect build the current property in 1965. All of the stone work on the property was completed using stone FROM the property. The shed and the separate cabin were original buildings on the property.
