Renting a one room cozy cottage with a king size bed in the loft on the water, with private beach front, holiday & weekend. The camp has great views from the deck, dock, and beach. Main room has full kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, and a gas stove. Living area has a fold up table with chairs for four, two bar stools at kitchen bar, with a TV and VCR. Bathroom has nice corner shower, vanity, and incinerolete toilet, and a heated towel rack. Loft has a king bed with TV and a VCR.
The summers are great for boats, dock space available, fishing and swimming in the crystal clear water, enjoy the scenic views, kayaking, canoeing, going for a paddle boat ride. The winters are really nice, cottage located centrally between Stowe ski resort, smugglers notch ski resort, and jay peak ski resort and indoor water park. We have the information for discounted ski tickets, indoor water park, local events, and package deals. Eden is great in the north east kingdom with the most record snow fall in Vermont. This also makes the best ridding for atv's and snowmobiling, being able too ride from the private road directly to the v.A.S.T trails. There is ice fishing for the enthusiast, perch, bass, rainbow trout, and the occasional pickerel. All this snow loving fun, bring your x- country skis, and snow shoes, and make your own path in the snow of Vermont.
When booking this cottage (in September 2014), we were required to pay a security deposit. We stayed for three nights, arriving on October 15, 2014 and departing on Oct 17, 2014. We left the cottage in immaculate condition. We have requested our security deposit. We were told that it was in the mail. That was over two months ago. We are still waiting for our money despite phone calls and emails from us and Homeaway. The owner no longer answers the phone nor responds to emails.
The cottage was OK, but not great. It’s comfortable, but extremely small and the noise from the incinerator toilet made sleeping at night difficult. (Each time you use the toilet you have to endure a noisy 3 hour cycle.) The cottage itself is located in a beautiful area and the fall colors were awesome. The surrounding property which includes the owner's house is a dump with stuff laying all over the place. There are far too many places to rent in this beautiful area for anyone to want to subject themselves to this owner.
When booking this cottage (in April 2014), we were required to pay a damage deposit. We stayed for five nights, arriving on Sept 26, 2014 and departing on Oct 1, 2014. We left the cottage in immaculate condition and were told a check refunding the damage deposit would be posted. That was over two months ago now. We are still waiting for our money despite lots of reminders and lots of assurances from the owners that the check is on its way. Just 6 days ago, after threatening to publish bad feedback, I received yet another promise that our damage deposit would be returned. But it’s the same old story … nothing comes of it. Be warned. The owners of this cottage do not refund the money you hand over in good faith.
The actual time spent at this cottage was OK, but not great. It’s comfortable, but the noise from the incinerator toilet ruined the peace and quiet during the day, and made sleeping at night difficult. (Each time you use the toilet you have to endure a noisy 3 hour cycle.) The cottage itself is located in a lovely setting and as we were there in the fall, the scenery was spectacular. However, any good memories we have of our stay at Lake Eden are now permanently marred by a series of false promises and refunds that fail to materialize.
You go to the bathroom into a paper lining and have to wait ~1 hour for the toilet to incinerate the waste before going again because the cottage has no direct plumbing system. The sink is very, very small so if you're planning on packing food to cook (we cooked small amounts of simple breakfast food for 2 people) try to minimize dishes that you'll have to wash later. My complaint is not about the cottage, but really about how unprofessional the owner was. We were great renters, left the cottage sparkling clean, even called the owner down to give her the extra food that we packed so it wouldn't go to waste. Its been over 1 month and I still have not received safety deposit. I tried e-mailing the owner, contacted them through 2 phone numbers without any replies what so ever. I had to contact customer service through Home Away to help me get into contact with the owner. The owner finally called me back after she was contacted by Home Away saying "she just sent my safety deposit out". After over a month! Besides some apologies, she could not directly answer why she did not call me back and why she was ignoring my phone calls. I would not rent from this place again. What a mess and horrible experience this was
Very clean, well kept cottage. The only downside is the all of the stairs getting down to the cottage. There is no easy way to get your coolers/luggage down to the cottage so pack lightly. We really enjoyed the canoe and peddle boats as well as the nice big dock. It is a beautiful lake with not a lot of power boat traffic which was a plus. The kitchen was stocked with just about everything we needed. All we needed to bring was our food. The loft was small but cozy with a queen sized bed.
My boyfriend and I booked the cabin for Memorial day weekend. It's an adorable place, small but not so small that two people couldn't maneuver around each other easily. The lake view was GORGEOUS and we loved sitting out on the small deck, looking out at the scenery.
