A ZEN-LIKE GETAWAY! JUST MINUTES TO ASHLAND! BEAUTIFULLY APPOINTED!

Ashland House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

*We added a larger deck & balcony, water filtration system, & a luxurious antique soaking tub*

This home is very unique, has countryside appeal, yet close to all! It is centrally located; just minutes to Ashland, the Shakespeare Festival, & Lithia Park. Historic Jacksonville, several wineries, & Medford are a short hop away. It is also close to serveral mountain bike trails.

You are within driving distance to Crater Lake, Rogue River rafting, Applegate River activities, horseback riding & several lakes. With all the characteristics and charm of this home, it is the perfect place to re-group after a day of theater, sightseeing, or doing any of the other many activities in the area. You can lounge on the deck listening to the birds, or watch the butterflies go by. Enjoying morning coffee or an afternoon beverage is a real delight on the sun drenched deck. Equally relaxing is throwing a blanket on the lawn for a picnic or a nap.

This property has been in my family since the 1940's! My uncle chose this spot to hand build this home in the 1970's. The logs you see in the home were cut from the trees on this property. The antique windows are from a church and a fruit packing plant that are no longer in existence. The antique doors, flooring, and other architectural details were also refurbished from buildings long since gone. Many of the stained glass windows were hand made by my uncle.

Not only does this home offer a central location, it is a very beautiful & unique place to stay. It truly offers the best of both worlds.

We love spending time here! We hope you find it as peaceful & enjoyable as we do.

Keywords: Quiet, peaceful, serene mountain home, yet close to all!

I spent most of my childhood summers here at this property. Now my husband & son are loving it here as much as I do. My husband & I are passionate about nature and being outdoors. We return here often to unwind & yearn to come back to the natural surroundings & peacefulness of this property. We manage the home & property with an emphasis on maintaining a healthy environment for our guest, as well as keeping the natural aspects untouched.

Mistee purchased this house in 2010

This property has been in my family since the 1940's! This home is a very special part of me.

This home offers serenity, yet it is close to all. It feels far from city life, but it is only minutes away. Down the hill is the town of Talent. It has yummy bakeries, cafes (some with live music and WiFi access), a grocery store, two live theaters, four wineries and several restaurants. A few short minutes away is wonderful Ashland. We love just relaxing on the deck & breathing in clean, fresh air. It is hard to leave this beautiful spot.

Love, Love, Love this cabin!

  • 5 of 5
I recently returned to the cabin for a second time and I just love it there! My favorite things about the cabin are:
1. It’s so charming, comfortable, clean, and well furnished. The outside and inside are absolutely beautiful and you can see that a lot of love went into building it. The furniture, beds, and bedding are incredibly comfortable and we sleep like babies every time. I also appreciate that the kitchen wares are so well stocked. I can’t tell you how much money I’ve saved by not going out to eat every day because they have almost everything you could possibly need to cook and prepare a meal with. They even have containers to store the leftovers in!
2. The location is incredible! When I’m at the cabin itself I feel like I am completely isolated in the best possible way. It’s so peaceful and serene-total solitude! We’ve had deer walk through the property as we sit out on the deck and the surrounding woods are beautiful. There isn’t a morning that goes by that I don’t sit outside on the Adirondacks or on the deck and drink my coffee for at least an hour and just enjoy the surroundings. It’s probably my favorite part of my visits. As much as I enjoy the solitude of the cabin I also love the convenience that there is a market five minutes away in Talent and it only takes about 10 minutes to get to Ashland! I also appreciate that if I want to go to a chain store or restaurant that Medford is close by (approximately 15 minutes) as well. I always feel like I get the best of both worlds because I get the beautiful, peaceful surroundings in addition to so many conveniences and dining options.
3. There is so much to do in the area! There is an endless list of things to do. The Shakespeare Festival, Lithia Park, zip lining, rafting, swimming, hiking, bowling, miniature golf, Frisbee, shopping, dining out, evening strolls, wine tasting, and there is free music to be heard all over Ashland.
I saw a sticker in one of the shops that said, “Ashland: Been there, done that, let’s do it again!” and I totally agree. I’ll be back and I will always work my visits around staying at this amazing cabin that my family and I adore so much.

Everything were hoping for and more!

This cabin, which is about a 15 minute drive to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon, exceeded our expectations in every way. It is clear that the owners love this charming property and have be thoughtful in maintaining it. It is also clear that everyone who stays there loves the cabin and treats it well.

The property is in a perfect location. It is close enough to Ashland to make a quick drive to see a play in town completely reasonable. Yet it's far enough out in the country that it is like being in a very remote location. In fact, I'm not sure where the nearest neighbors are. The house is set off the road a good 200 yards and surrounded by trees. Staying there was like being all alone in a forest. It was wonderful. The privacy, peace and solitude this property offers are unparallelled. In fact, we spent one evening on the grass, in the dark, in front of the cabin laying on our backs and watching shooting stars and satellites sail across the night sky. It was like we were the only two people in the world.

The cabin is also well supplied and shockingly clean for a rustic rental home. There are pots and pans for cooking as well as a thoughtful assortment of tupperware dishes that came in handy for packing a lunch for a day trip to Crater Lake. The cabin is very clean inside and out. I was surprised when I went to wipe down the chairs and tables on the deck, so that we could have brunch outside, to find that the outdoor furniture had recently been cleaned as well. There was no need to do anything but relax, eat good food and enjoy our little retreat.

It's not a matter now of saying that I "would" rent this property again, but just noting the fact that I WILL rent this property again. I come to Ashland at least every other year and I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. This cabin is perfect for people who want to enjoy peace and quiet in a charming rustic setting. I recommend it highly. We had a wonderful experience, from beginning to end, and are looking forward to our next visit.

Our stay at the cabin was very relaxing. It is in a very tranquil setting. We saw a flock of turkey hens the first morning crossing the property and deer the next morning. There are also a variety of birds to watch at the feeders and squirrels as well. The cabin is well appointed and is comfortable. It is also fairly close to surrounding sights such as Ashland, Jacksonville, and Medford. It's a great place if you want to get away from the rat race, very quiet, and not too far out of a town.

Rustic Cabin Vacation

  • 5 of 5
My family recently stayed in this cute, handmade cabin to celebrate our son's 20th birthday. He loved it--especially the loft. I enjoyed all of the woodwork and stained glass windows. For a fun read, check out the book "Handmade Houses: A Guide to the Woodbutcher's Art" written in the early 70's. It is in the living room bookcase. The location is indeed in a rural setting but we made the drive from the cabin to the theaters in Ashland in about ten minutes. Everything was clean and stocked and the owner was very responsive to any emails or calls. We ate most of our meals out but could have easily cooked in the cabin's kitchen. We recommend Greenleaf Restaurant in Ashland for breakfast. If you can handle stairs, and the handcrafted wooden ladder to the loft, this is a fun place to stay!

Only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

This cabin has so much character tucked away in every nook and cranny. The minute you enter through the front door you feel as though you are going back in time into a secret fortress. It was truly built with a lot of love, care and ingenuity. The antique windows make the cabin feel more like a sanctuary. We all loved it & spent some quality time together listening to the great selection of CDs that were there & enjoyed perusing the bookshelf for hiking ideas. I slept in the loft bedroom which feels like you're up in a tree house. The stairway down from the loft with the one-of-a-kind designed hand rail and knotted rope is nifty. It was so peaceful just sitting outside listening to the birds and watching the giant old trees sway in the wind. It was a true honor to stay here. While you feel far away from the beaten path, it is close enough to the city so that you capture the best of both worlds. We went to the farmer's market & Lithia Artisans market & strolled around Ashland. Next time I want to attend First Friday in Ashland, so I have a perfect excuse to come back & stay in this cabin again. Plus the stars are amazing here! Crater Lake is an awesome day trip. So is Mt. Shasta; its only a little over an hour away. I loved the privacy of this cabin. The lawn was perfect for walking barefoot on. The washer & dryer came in handy. This cabin is like a tree fortress built by hobbits & fit for royalty. My only regret was that we could not stay longer. This place is a slice of heaven & we did not want to leave. Thanks to your uncle for building this magnificent home & thank you Mistee for allowing us the pleasure to share the experience.

Peaceful Escape

  • 5 of 5
My family and I spent 3 blissful days at this lovely home in the trees. The property was even more charming in person than in the photos! We instantly felt at home and were impressed with all the loving details and modern amenities the home provided. My 12 year old son thought the loft was "the coolest bedroom ever!".
Mistee was great to work with as well. We will definitely be back next time we're in Ashland!
