*We added a larger deck & balcony, water filtration system, & a luxurious antique soaking tub*
This home is very unique, has countryside appeal, yet close to all! It is centrally located; just minutes to Ashland, the Shakespeare Festival, & Lithia Park. Historic Jacksonville, several wineries, & Medford are a short hop away. It is also close to serveral mountain bike trails.
You are within driving distance to Crater Lake, Rogue River rafting, Applegate River activities, horseback riding & several lakes. With all the characteristics and charm of this home, it is the perfect place to re-group after a day of theater, sightseeing, or doing any of the other many activities in the area. You can lounge on the deck listening to the birds, or watch the butterflies go by. Enjoying morning coffee or an afternoon beverage is a real delight on the sun drenched deck. Equally relaxing is throwing a blanket on the lawn for a picnic or a nap.
This property has been in my family since the 1940's! My uncle chose this spot to hand build this home in the 1970's. The logs you see in the home were cut from the trees on this property. The antique windows are from a church and a fruit packing plant that are no longer in existence. The antique doors, flooring, and other architectural details were also refurbished from buildings long since gone. Many of the stained glass windows were hand made by my uncle.
Not only does this home offer a central location, it is a very beautiful & unique place to stay. It truly offers the best of both worlds.
We love spending time here! We hope you find it as peaceful & enjoyable as we do.
Keywords: Quiet, peaceful, serene mountain home, yet close to all!
I spent most of my childhood summers here at this property. Now my husband & son are loving it here as much as I do. My husband & I are passionate about nature and being outdoors. We return here often to unwind & yearn to come back to the natural surroundings & peacefulness of this property. We manage the home & property with an emphasis on maintaining a healthy environment for our guest, as well as keeping the natural aspects untouched.
Mistee purchased this house in 2010
This property has been in my family since the 1940's! This home is a very special part of me.
This home offers serenity, yet it is close to all. It feels far from city life, but it is only minutes away. Down the hill is the town of Talent. It has yummy bakeries, cafes (some with live music and WiFi access), a grocery store, two live theaters, four wineries and several restaurants. A few short minutes away is wonderful Ashland. We love just relaxing on the deck & breathing in clean, fresh air. It is hard to leave this beautiful spot.
What a beautiful, little cabin in the woods. Spring was surely trying to make itself known as the birds where chirping and nesting. We even saw a wild turkey waddle through the lawn! This home is nicely put together and had all we needed to make meals there, instead of eating out every night. I wish I could have enjoyed the deck, but the rain was keeping everything watered. Not too disappointed, as it was quite cozy and comfortable inside. I had a relaxing trip, just what was needed. Mistee was very nice to work with. Hope to come back soon.
My wife and I had a great time here. The cabin is uniquely and beautifully designed and cozy, yet with plenty of room. It was well equipped, so we had coffee and a couple meals there. It's like in the pictures, but even better in person. The location in the woods is beautiful, but it's not too far from Ashland, which is a very enjoyable town with lots of restaurants, shopping and theater. Mistee, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end.
The cabin is lovely- tucked away in the forest. Beautiful setting and rolling hills on the way there. It is very cosy and I wish we'd had more time to just hang out there. Everything was clean and comfortable.
The cabin is really cute, and the setting is very peaceful. It's an easy 15 minute drive to Ashland. The upstairs loft is really cool as long as you are ok with climbing a ladder to get up and down. My husband, adult daughter, and I stayed two nights for a wedding and play in Ashland. We did not cook any meals, but found everything we needed during our stay. The cabin has obviously been decorated and kept up with love, and the owner was very easy to work with. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this for people wanting to explore the Ashland area.
We enjoyed our 3 day stay in this cabin, which is in a lovely setting. The cabin had everything we needed, including the quiet of the woods. We were attending the Shakespeare Festival and the cabin was about 15 to 20 minutes outside Ashland in Talent, OR. The drive was a pleasant, non-freeway jaunt. The cabin has no air conditioning but is well-built and we found that fans were enough, even with the days at 90+. If you enjoy a setting in trees, with wineries and orchards around you, you will love this location.
While we traveled across the country to visit the obvious destinations: the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Crater Lake, coastal redwoods, the Oregon coast (and they exceeded all our expectations) the time we spent resting here in the woods was equally extraordinary for it's calm and beauty. Everywhere we turned both inside and out we saw signs of thoughtful hosts who clearly care deeply about their guests' comfort. The beds are super-comfortable, the reading material satisfied all our collective curiosities about the natural setting, the CD music collection was wonderfully eclectic, even the slanted hillside croquet court was a delight (though incredibly challenging). We lingered every morning over breakfast delighting in freshly picked wild blackberries, grazing deer, and the sudden thrum of hummingbirds. We discovered a fantastic grocer/natural food store and a great Mexican restaurant a few miles up the road in Phoenix, and all the locals we met are wonderfully friendly. We would consider ourselves very fortunate if we are able to return someday.
Our property is an easy 5 minute drive to some of the Bear Creek Boutique Wineries, such as Trium Wines, StoneRiver Vineyard, & Ledger David Cellars. We are minutes from the Applegate Wine Tour.
