Aloha and welcome to Hotel Pa'amalu the only one room hotel in Kealakekua Hawaii. Hotel Pa'amalu is a blend of Polynesia, Indonesia and amnesia. Come swim in our warm tropical waters or explore the enchanting tropical rain forests atop Kilauea, possibly the most active volcano on the plant. Plan your day while lounging on the lanai, comforted by the warm gentle trade wind breezes.
You will begin your day 5 minutes from historical Kealakekua Bay, on the leeward slopes of Mauna Loa on the island of Hawaii. The weather is warm, sunny and mild all year long, yes all year long.
Hotel Pa'amalu is a fun, retreat, romantic get away, or a brief interlude as you travel through out our beautiful islands.
Thanks so much for visiting, hope to hear from you soon.
Oh, if you come during mango season you may never leave the lanai!
Mahalo Nui Loa,
All the previous commenters have described this cottage well: beautiful location, easy access to everywhere, and helpful, friendly host. If we are lucky enough to visit the Big Island again, we will arrange our travel schedule to be able to stay here. Charles describes this cottage as "close but far..." and this says it all. It's far from crowds, busy roads, etc., but close to the bay, close to town, and its easy to get anywhere from here. We appreciated the chance to relax on the large lanai and watch the birds, the ocean, and the sunsets. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to cook meals regularly. We very much appreciated Charles' willingness to let us leave late on our departure day, as nobody was scheduled to come in immediately. We would definitely love to have the opportunity to return!
Had such a peaceful time saying at this little gem. Owner Charles and his little dog Scooby has to be the perfect host. My husband and I have already decided to come back soon. We already miss this little cottage and most of all Scooby.
Lovely Hawaiian cottage, well appointed and comfortable. Screened lanai with comfortable chairs and a view of the small surrounding orchard and lush tropical flowers. There is also a small fountain off the lanai where a variety of colorful birds stop for a drink or a bath...beautiful! Although it's off the beaten path, it's convenient to beaches, swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the west side of the island. Charles is a gracious host, and met us shortly after we arrived, providing a lot of good information about local things to see and do. Mahalo to Charles for his wonderful Hawaiian hospitality...we had a great time!
This is a special place with a perfect combination of privacy and contact with the gracious owner, Charles. Even his little dog would arrive and leave at just the right times. Unlike many rentals, which can be either nonexistent and impersonal or cheesy , this cottage has lovely wood furniture, a few large, beautiful shells, a well-made bathroom, and a screened-in lanai. Charles lives just uphill and the place is a farm with fig, banana and mango trees. It's something special.
We stayed here in October 2013. And I cannot say enough about how wonderfully relaxing it was, from the fresh mangoes to the enthusiastic visits from Scoobie. If you are looking for a place to just relax. This is your place!
I can't say enough wonderful things about this property - it was an absolute dream come true. Charles is terrific, the area is beautiful, the cottage is clean and beautifully appointed. The description is absolutely accurate - I didn't want to leave the lanai. Especially great for a couple or another solo traveler like myself looking to get away from it all. I'm already planning next year's trip!!
