SPECTACULAR PANORAMIC LAKE VIEWS IN ROMANTIC, PRIVATE SETTING

Wilson House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Great Fall of 2014 dates still available. Stop procrastinating and plan your Autumn getaway! Rochester's Fringe Festival is going on between September 18-27th, with 380 shows, one third of them free! To learn more, follow the link below:

http://rochesterfringe.com/

We are also taking reservations for 2015...

As evidenced by the now over 30 (5 star) reviews, this is not your typical cottage.

Located on 200 feet of lakefront with breathtaking views of both the sunrise and sunset from your private deck, this lovely one bedroom house is perfect for a romantic getaway for two.

45 minutes from Rochester, Buffalo and Niagara Falls and right off the New York State Parkway, the location couldn't be more convenient. With cable TV, WiFi, public water, air conditioning and ample heat plus countless amenities, you'll be on vacation the moment you arrive.

Just as lovely in the spring and fall as it is in the summer, this location is the perfect spot for parents visiting students in Brockport, Rochester, Niagara or Buffalo. Lake Ontario turns a vibrant dark blue in the spring and fall and a walk among the changing foliage in Lakeside Park is simply spectacular. On chillier nights, our fire pit provides a cozy place for you to comfortably linger well past sunset. Long summer evenings will amaze you with skies loaded with stars, the likes of which can only be seen in the country.

The unit is all on one floor, and includes a queen-size bed, full kitchen and living room, as well as a full bathroom with shower. The entire house has been completely remodeled, and is absolutely gorgeous inside.

The property borders on Lakeside Park, where you can enjoy miles of hiking along the breathtaking bluffs on the southern shore of Lake Ontario. A new 18 hole disc golf course is also available for your enjoyment.

In the area you will find several golf courses, fresh produce, a drive-in movie theater and wonderful restaurants. The house is nestled in a lakeside hamlet less than 15 minutes from the Erie Canal. Kayaking and canoeing opportunities along local creeks and waterways abound. You will find each nearby town loaded with unique shops, local landmarks and fascinating history. When you return back to the lake, you'll find the perfect location to relax and read that book you have been looking forward to. Most importantly, you'll have a chance to reconnect with nature and each other.

Check our online calendar... it is updated daily and reflects current availability.... 2014 reservations are already underway!

About Maureen Farnand

My husband and I grew up in the Rochester area. We both came from large families and we love to travel and entertain. We enjoy this unique location on the lake so much, when the opportunity arose, we bought the house next door! We're happy to provide you with tips on good restaurants and fun things to do in the area, as well as directions on how to get wherever you want to go. We love this place and we want to make sure you do too!

Maureen Farnand purchased this house in 2010

Why Maureen Farnand chose Wilson

This location is ideal in so many ways: it is 45 minutes from home, it is quiet and private, it has gorgeous views of the lake, Lakeside Park is a hidden treasure and it is in our back yard, we can leave on a Friday after work and enjoy dinner on the deck an hour later. Few people know about this location. The property tends to stay in families for generations and has remained a hidden treasure we were lucky enough to learn about through my uncle who introduced our family to this beautiful spot in 1959.

What makes this house unique

There are few places I know of, where you can walk outside in your pajamas, cup of coffee and newspaper in hand and as you head to the deck you look out on the vastness of the lake and see six beautiful swans gliding by. You have to wonder... how could I beat this?

Awesome!

Totally enjoyed our stay. Pictures did not do this place justice. It was large enough to be accommodating, yet small enough to be comfy. Ingrid was kind and helpful. Nice to know she was next door if we needed her. Will definitely return. Thanks Maureen and Ingrid.

GREAT TIME!!!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent 3 days/nights here and were extremely pleased! Everything is in the house for you, a full "things to do nearby" book personally put together by the owners certainly is a great touch. You will feel like its yours the moment you step inside, as Maureen has everything already figured out. The weather didn't cooperate 2 of the days, but we found our way to Niagara Falls about an hour away! Visited the wineries around, and sampled some great local wines. The outdoor deck by the lake, well there really is no description!! Had an AWESOME sunset one night!! As it was chilly, we left the windows open for that true "bungalow" feel. We highly recommend and will stay here again!!

Romantic get away

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I receintly rented this cottage for our anniversary. Maureen and Darcy made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was clean and had everything! We decided to take the weekend off from cooking so we took advantage of some very nice restaurants near by. We were very pleased with the accommodations.

Wow. . .Wow. . .Wow. . .Wow. . .Wow

Wow. . .Wow. . .Wow. . .Wow. . .Wow! From the instant we pulled up to the property, to the last look in the rear view mirror.-WOW
Wow #1 Maureen met us at the car. We immediately felt welcome. A quick orientation to the outside features of the property gave us a great feeling. Clean, well kept, quiet, peaceful.
Wow #2 The inside of the cottage was beyond our expectations. Very well decorated and appointed. (i. e. T-Fal cookware, great flat screen TV, Weber gas grill). No garage sale cast-offs here. Owners manuaIs for appliances etc are in the cottage. We had brought our own bedding and towels. But absolutely did NOT need them. This cottage is CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! The air-conditioning was perfect. Plenty of hot water for showers.
Wow #3 Don’t forget your binoculars to scan the lake for freighters, sail boats, and sea gulls. We have some great pictures of fabulous sunsets. The lakeside deck is the place to wind up the day with a glass of wine. Or at the lakeside fire pit. The wrap around deck was my favorite place to eat or read.
Wow #4 We brought our kayaks and put in @ Oak Orchard River. There is a stack of area attraction brochures and maps, thoughtfully left behind by other guests. These were very helpful to navigate the area. I would bring our bikes next time.
Wow #5. I did not want to leave. Perfect get-away for my husband and me. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Owner's Response: Mary Beth and Mike,
Wow Again! I am so thrilled that your stay was everything you had hoped for! You reserved your stay almost a year in advance and I was keeping my fingers crossed that after all that patience you would really enjoy your time at the lake. How fun it was to read your glowing praise for our little house! You're exactly right in that we don't use 'garage sale castoffs'. Everything you see is selected with the interests of the tenants being paramount. The air conditioner was rated 'most quiet' in its class. The same goes for the fridge. The convection microwave is also very high end. We noticed one of the ceiling fans had a slight wobble this weekend, and my husband insisted we immediately get that fixed. The cushions on the deck furniture were selected because they repel water, are fade resistant and are super comfortable. Each cushion cost over $75 and I replace them every other year. You can tell the minute you walk in that we really wanted a place we would be proud to host our closest friends. The next time you come, you will have to stay for the full week. At night the lake can get so calm and tranquil, I bet you could give those kayaks of yours another workout on the 'big water'. Johnson's Creek is another option for kayakers.
Thanks again for being our guest and please come back soon. We’ll be waiting!
Maureen and Darcy
