Great Fall of 2014 dates still available. Stop procrastinating and plan your Autumn getaway! Rochester's Fringe Festival is going on between September 18-27th, with 380 shows, one third of them free! To learn more, follow the link below:

http://rochesterfringe.com/

We are also taking reservations for 2015...

As evidenced by the now over 30 (5 star) reviews, this is not your typical cottage.

Located on 200 feet of lakefront with breathtaking views of both the sunrise and sunset from your private deck, this lovely one bedroom house is perfect for a romantic getaway for two.

45 minutes from Rochester, Buffalo and Niagara Falls and right off the New York State Parkway, the location couldn't be more convenient. With cable TV, WiFi, public water, air conditioning and ample heat plus countless amenities, you'll be on vacation the moment you arrive.

Just as lovely in the spring and fall as it is in the summer, this location is the perfect spot for parents visiting students in Brockport, Rochester, Niagara or Buffalo. Lake Ontario turns a vibrant dark blue in the spring and fall and a walk among the changing foliage in Lakeside Park is simply spectacular. On chillier nights, our fire pit provides a cozy place for you to comfortably linger well past sunset. Long summer evenings will amaze you with skies loaded with stars, the likes of which can only be seen in the country.

The unit is all on one floor, and includes a queen-size bed, full kitchen and living room, as well as a full bathroom with shower. The entire house has been completely remodeled, and is absolutely gorgeous inside.

The property borders on Lakeside Park, where you can enjoy miles of hiking along the breathtaking bluffs on the southern shore of Lake Ontario. A new 18 hole disc golf course is also available for your enjoyment.

In the area you will find several golf courses, fresh produce, a drive-in movie theater and wonderful restaurants. The house is nestled in a lakeside hamlet less than 15 minutes from the Erie Canal. Kayaking and canoeing opportunities along local creeks and waterways abound. You will find each nearby town loaded with unique shops, local landmarks and fascinating history. When you return back to the lake, you'll find the perfect location to relax and read that book you have been looking forward to. Most importantly, you'll have a chance to reconnect with nature and each other.

About Maureen Farnand

My husband and I grew up in the Rochester area. We both came from large families and we love to travel and entertain. We enjoy this unique location on the lake so much, when the opportunity arose, we bought the house next door! We're happy to provide you with tips on good restaurants and fun things to do in the area, as well as directions on how to get wherever you want to go. We love this place and we want to make sure you do too!

Maureen Farnand purchased this house in 2010

Why Maureen Farnand chose Wilson

This location is ideal in so many ways: it is 45 minutes from home, it is quiet and private, it has gorgeous views of the lake, Lakeside Park is a hidden treasure and it is in our back yard, we can leave on a Friday after work and enjoy dinner on the deck an hour later. Few people know about this location. The property tends to stay in families for generations and has remained a hidden treasure we were lucky enough to learn about through my uncle who introduced our family to this beautiful spot in 1959.

What makes this house unique

There are few places I know of, where you can walk outside in your pajamas, cup of coffee and newspaper in hand and as you head to the deck you look out on the vastness of the lake and see six beautiful swans gliding by. You have to wonder... how could I beat this?

Look! Another Glowing Review!!

  • 5 of 5
Hard to find new & different superlatives, but here's an encapsulation: one week was NOT enough.... This cottage had everything, & though we'd like to thank the landlords for providing excellent weather, along with all the other amenities, I guess that would be overstating it. But everything they did provide, from location to accommodations to wildlife to relaxation (& okay, great October weather) was top-notch, & a second visit is definitely in order. The photos accompanying the listing tell the story; they were a large part of what attracted us in the first place.
We celebrated my birthday & our anniversary there, & those celebrations included a small party. One of our friends remarked 'This place is so clean!', to which my husband replied, 'Yes, but we've only been here one day....' However, we kept it looking pretty much as we'd found it; didn't require a lot of effort, happily. We had a chance to meet owners Darcy & Maureen & to gab with them on a couple of occasions, & they didn't throw us out. Nor did they cringe when we said we'd be coming back.
We are Great Lakes people from childhood (I was born in the city of Niagara Falls, NY), & we currently live only 90 minutes away from this idyllic spot, so for us, it is the ideal place for a getaway. We recommend it highly in every particular, & even if getting there requires a longer trip, it is indeed a worthwhile destination.
Bravo, D & M. We look forward to seeing you & the lake & the ships & the Bald Eagle again!

Congratulations again on both your birthday and anniversary! Your stories of the local wild-life (and I don't mean our contractor) were very entertaining. You seem to be a magnet for the most interesting creatures- from the little fox to the bald eagle- who came to greet you the moment you arrived. I really enjoyed the pictures you sent- especially the little squirrel you adopted who made a habit of eating peanuts on the front deck by the pumpkin.
We have had guests that swear that spring is the most beautiful season on the lake, with all the trees in bloom and everything waking up after a long winter. Others tell us a summer evening on the deck or by the fire is just about the nicest way to spend a vacation. But you were one of the fall guests, and our September and October were just beautiful this year- so I see your point. It's hard to beat a walk in Lakeside Park when the leaves are ablaze in spectacular shades of red, orange and gold. I know October is your favorite month and it's becoming one of mine too!
We'll see you next year!

Wonderful retreat!

  • 5 of 5
This is a great cozy cottage for a get away for a couple. The hosts provided a fully equipped space - both inside and out. Walks, biking on the Erie Canal, exploring the surrounding countryside - plus just sitting on the deck and watching the water, birds, sun, moon and stars.

Owner's Response: Sarah,
I'm glad you were able to explore the area, get your exercise, and still have a chance to sit back, relax and enjoy the view. Watching a pair of swans slowly glide past the house as the sunset turns the lake a beautiful shade of pink, is one of the prettiest sites I know.
Thanks for your nice review... We hope to see you back soon!

Owner's Response: Diana,
We're so glad you took advantage of the fire pit by the lake. You're right- that spot on the bluffs looking out over the water is really a lovely way to enjoy the evening. When the sky is clear, the number of stars in the sky is amazing. It's so pretty some nights I've gotten a stiff neck staring at the sky for too long!!
Thanks for your kind words and we hope you come back soon,

Beautiful Getaway

The perfect quiet and peaceful vacation spot. Views are beautiful and the house has everything you need. The disc golf courses in nearby Lakeside park were tons of fun. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

We are so glad you took the time to enjoy the disc golf course! Darcy and I were just walking through the park this past weekend, and we happened upon another lost Frisbee- and that's how it goes on that course- you literally 'win some and lose some'. It's lots of fun and a great way to explore that beautiful park. The view of the sun sparkling on the water as you walk along the bluffs, is just spectacular.
Thanks for being our guest and please come back for another visit soon!

Awesome!

Totally enjoyed our stay. Pictures did not do this place justice. It was large enough to be accommodating, yet small enough to be comfy. Ingrid was kind and helpful. Nice to know she was next door if we needed her. Will definitely return. Thanks Maureen and Ingrid.

Owner's Response: Dee,
I'm glad to hear our friends, Ingrid and Dan did a good job as your hosts! When we head out of town we have no shortage of volunteers willing to stay at our lake house and greet our guests for us. It was their 25 year anniversary this year, so they took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate at the lake and 'house sit' our home during your stay. I understand you were asked to be part of a conspiracy, to insure they were called back next year for a repeat performance!
I'm sorry we missed you and we'd love to have you back for another visit. We may even allow Ingrid to sneak back to say 'hi'! :-)
Thanks for your kind words!

GREAT TIME!!!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent 3 days/nights here and were extremely pleased! Everything is in the house for you, a full "things to do nearby" book personally put together by the owners certainly is a great touch. You will feel like its yours the moment you step inside, as Maureen has everything already figured out. The weather didn't cooperate 2 of the days, but we found our way to Niagara Falls about an hour away! Visited the wineries around, and sampled some great local wines. The outdoor deck by the lake, well there really is no description!! Had an AWESOME sunset one night!! As it was chilly, we left the windows open for that true "bungalow" feel. We highly recommend and will stay here again!!

Owner's Response: Joe
Isn't it funny how even a rainy day away can still feel like the perfect vacation? Maybe it's just nice to wake up in a different bed! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and you were able to get that much needed 'R&R' you were after. When life seems to be moving too fast and you know you need to recharge your battery, we hope you think of our little house on the lake and come back to pay us another visit. We'd love to have you back!
Warm regards
Maureen and Darcy
