The Loony Bin at Loon Lake in Franklin, NY is the perfect Adirondack retreat. Located directly on 100 feet of waterfront, the cottage offers a peaceful setting to enjoy all that the Adirondacks have to offer. Use of two kayaks, a rowboat and a canoe are included in the rental price. Enjoy boating on Loon Lake in addition to swimming in its clear waters. Watch the loons swim by frequently and listen to their intriguing calls. Fish until your heart is content catching lake trout, bass, perch and pike. Walk the areas' roads and paths gathering fresh berries. Admire the gorgeous star filled sky at night free of a city's light pollution.

When a trip into the 'city' is warranted, make an easy drive to Saranac Lake (20 minutes) or Lake Placid (30 minutes). These towns offer excellent dining both refined and casual and boast antique stores, novelty shops and specialty stores. No matter where you decide to go, you will be surrounded by the gorgeous Adirondack mountains.

Explore area museums such as the Wild Center in Tupper Lake or the Interpretive Center near Paul's Smith college. Both host awesome nature exhibits as well as trail systems.

This is so long overdue....my 88 year old Mother & I rented this warm & welcome cottage.The property inside & out, is attractive, clean, and conducive to a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Everything you could possibly need was available at our disposal. It is an extremely peaceful place & a perfect retreat. The views of the lake were soothing to the soul to say the least. The Loons were still around even at the end of September. I would highly recommend this property. The listing photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance & amenities. Laurie Ann & Phil are very responsive and attentive to the needs of the house & of their guest. Thank you so much for everything! I'll be back.......

The Loony Bin is everything described and more! We were immediately welcomed by a warm and charming cottage with everything we needed at our disposal. The use of the boats was key as we spent many tranquil hours on the lake. The first morning we were greeted by a loon right in front of the cottage with many more visits daily! The hosts were welcoming and readily available to answer any questions. An amazing week!

A Wonderful Family Vacation!!!

We had a wonderful time staying at The Loony Bin. So much is provided for your stay and you immediately feel welcomed once you enter. The location was great - right on the lake! It was conveniently located being able to travel to Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain, and Santa's Workshop in the North Pole. It was perfect for our family of 4. Wish we could have stayed longer as nobody wanted to go back home after a week!

The Loony Bin is exactly as described. The cottage was clean and all accessories provided. The views were great, the swimming was great, the hiking and biking were great. The lake has quality fishing for large and small mouth bass, perch, and pike. A nice dock is provided if you bring you own boat. The cottage is perfect for a couple and/or one or two kids. The owners were very courteous and answered any questions we had. The location provides a great jump off point to the northern Adirondacks and Plattsburgh/Lake Champlain region.
