We picked this property for its proximity to family living in Brooklyn. We needed to bring our car and be able to park without worry. We were attracted by the colorful decor as well, and knowing that the ground floor unit had access to a garden. The weather during our stay made us appreciate the generous radiators, quietly giving a steady heat, and we loved the strong water pressure that made our hot, hot showers super relaxing. The street was quiet enough to always have a space available for us to park. We also left it in front of our nephew's house for a whole day when we went off on the subway together. No meters, no trouble, just as Monique promised when she met us and got us situated.
The apartment has a kitchen with a good amount of pots and cooking utensils, spices, a coffee pot- we had breakfast at home and saved some money. We look forward to returning and having coffee on the terrace in warm weather.
Shopping was easy- several good stores are in walking distance. Transit is easy, with several lines passing within a few blocks of the apartment. Monique was very helpful and quick to respond to our questions. An all around perfect rental!
We took this place because it's near to the Prospect Park and we're runners. This was a very good idea. The park is amazing!
The apt. is very good, too. Everything is working. Even the heater when it got cold. The internet is very fast.
Monique is a very nice and helpfull landlord. We loved it!
We had a really enjoyable two weeks in Monique's apartment. We were very comfortable and grateful for facilities such as a washer and dryer, as well as a full stove and fridge. There are plenty of grocery stores around, we made breakfast quite often and saved money there. Monique is so lovely, very helpful and unintrusive. There is a wealth of information in the apartment about local eateries etc. Try Zelda's coffee shop around the corner on franklin Avenue. Great service. Don't make the same mistake as this Aussie girl though and ask for an iced coffee. It is totally different (and undrinkable!!) to what I am used to. There are other great local restaurants also. Indian Pearl is lovely and Basil Thai too. All within 5-10 minutes walk from the apartment. Make sure you allow time to explore the diverse neighbourhoods of Brooklyn. It is such an interesting place. Transport to and from the city was easy using the shuttle steps from your doorway. Thanks Monique for making us so welcome. We would definitely stay in the apartment again, and recommend it to our friends.
We stayed in Monique’s Brooklyn apartment for three weeks and couldn’t have been happier. It’s a great space in an up-and-coming New York City location just a few minutes walk to a host of great bars, restaurants and, of course, the fabulous Brooklyn Museum of Art. Best of all, Monique’s apartment is under a 10 minute walk to a 2, 3, 4, and 5 metro stop that can take you anywhere in Manhattan.
We found Monique to be a gracious hostess. Check-in was easy and communication was prompt. The next time we return to New York we’ll definitely stay in Monique’s apartment again.
This apartment far exceeded our expectations! My friend and I stayed here for a week (it was our first time vacationing in New York) and Monique was very accommodating. She provided us with recommendations on local markets for grocery shopping, restaurants close to the apartment, and directions to local transportation. The subway shuttle station is right down the street from the apartment (seen right when you step out the door!). It's only a half hour commute to Manhattan, where we visited the most popular tourist sites, using the subway.
The apartment was warm and clean when we arrived. There's a full kitchen and dining area with appliances and kitchenware made available for use. A washer and dryer is also available to use for longer vacation stays. The apartment can sleep up to 4 people (one bed and a futon that may be folded down), and linens are provided as well.
Monique made herself available to us via text message and she responded quickly to answer our questions.
Our favorite diner in the area is called Tom's Restaurant on Washington and Sterling, only two blocks away from the apartment. They make the best pancakes I've ever had.
Overall, we had a wonderful first vacation in NY and I would recommend this rental to anyone staying in the Brooklyn area.
My partner and I had a FABULOUS time staying here. We were here for 12 days, and really appreciated the amenities (like full-sized washer and dryer, coffee maker, and dishwasher) and the little thoughtful touches (like the great desk/workspace, and easily accessible extension cords for charging phones). It was really comfortable and homey, and we felt very welcomed.
It is literally across the street from a subway that offers easy access to the 2,3,4,5, and C, which can get you pretty much anywhere without much trouble. And the neighborhood itself is fantastic - right between Crown Heights and Prospect Heights, and an easy walk from Park Slope. We surprised ourselves by spending more time in Brooklyn than Manhattan, enjoying the great food, drink, and CHEESEMONGERS right around the corner.
Staying here made this a really wonderful vacation, and we definitely want to come back for our next New York stay. I can't recommend it enough!
