Highlights: Newer LARGE home in Saugatuck with 4,500 square feet of living space; 5-minute walk from Downtown Saugatuck and a short drive to Oval beach. We personally use the house frequently and take great care of it. Features modern furnishings, while maintaining a comfortable, cozy feel consistent with the character of the house. Perfect for large groups, multiple families, or a reunion. Features a large living room, well-appointed kitchen, multiple lounging areas, large dining table that seats 10-12, and plenty of outdoor space. FAST internet service and HD cable with DVR are included.

The ground floor has a well-appointed kitchen including double ovens, side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. The owners are aspiring chefs, so you will find high quality and sharp knives, cookware, utensils, and small appliances throughout the kitchen. There is plenty of counter space and cookware to prepare meals for large groups. The kitchen island is used a breakfast bar with seating for five. If for some reason you bring a LOT of food, don’t worry there is a second refrigerator in the garage.

The dining area can seat 10-12 on the large farmhouse table, plus 4-5 on the nearby kitchen island, great for big family meals. The living room has a full entertainment system, with 60” flat screen, HD Cable with DVR, TiVo, DVD, and a sound system that can play YOUR music (from a phone or music player) throughout the house. There is also a seating area with two comfortable club chairs by the indoor, gas fireplace.

The upstairs has four bedrooms and a lounge area with a pull-out sofa bed. Bedrooms upstairs include a Master Suite and three additional bedrooms – see the pictures for detailed bedroom configuration; the sleeping arrangements are very flexible.

The basement, which has plenty of natural light, has a large family gathering area with 50” flat screen and cable TV, game room with Ping-Pong table, and an en-suite bedroom with queen bed. A sixth bedroom with a queen bed and private toilet room and sink is located above the garage.

This house offers indoor parking for two vehicles, and space outside for four additional vehicles.

Several outdoor areas: a screened in porch, with a round dining table and seating area adjacent to the living/dining room; there is a separate seating area in front of the outdoor fireplace, near the gas grille. In addition, there is a nice yard that is adjacent to a grass softball field. Basketball, and tennis courts are steps away.

About Alex D.

We live in in Chicago, and have been going to Saugatuck each summer for the past several years, really enjoy what Saugatuck can offer year-around. We are a family of four, with two kids. Our parents like to come along and also we like to spend time with other families.

Why Alex D. chose Saugatuck / Douglas

One of the main questions we had was if we wanted to be in town or on the beach. When we came to Saugatuck, we found that we would go to the beach 4-5 times a week, but we would come into town multiple times a day, so the decision was easy. The property is in a great location - quiet neighborhood yet a short walk to town. Also we wanted a place that could fit two families, with multiple kids each, plus one or two sets of parents, or a nanny.

What makes this house unique

The house is large - 4500 square feet so the house accommodates several groups and allows privacy as well as shared space. It is much newer than the vast majority of homes available in Saugatuck; and it is configured with 4 desks and premium internet service for those folks that can't stay unplugged from work for too long.

A Terrific Week in Saugatuck

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 11 (ages 18 months to 75 years old) spent our family vacation in this lovely home in Saugatuck. We found the home to be perfect for a group our size. It is spacious enough that we did not feel on top of each other. There was a place for everyone. The home was very clean, well maintained and equipped, and we particularly loved the screened front porch, the other porch with a fireplace and grill, the kitchen and dining area and the game rooms downstairs. The children enjoyed the toys, games and ping pong table. The location of the home is perfect. It is near a school with tennis courts and a large area to play outdoor games. It is a short walk to the quaint town of Saugatuck, where we enjoyed the gift shops, art shops, restaurants, candy and ice cream shops. It is a town for all ages. Many of us kayaked, took the chain ferry to Mt. Baldy and walked over the dune to Lake Michigan. Those of us not wanting the challenge of climbing the 302 steps of Mt. Baldy, drove to Oval Beach, a short drive though Douglas, another scenic community. We also enjoyed the dune buggy rides, painting pottery at the Art Barn, antiquing, winetasting, and taking a cruise on the Star of Saugatuck one evening to watch the sunset. Our stay in Saugatuck at this lovely home was all that we hoped for and we hope to return next year. We highly recommend this home to anyone wishing a perfect vacation.

Everything we dreamed Saugatuck would be and more

  • 5 of 5
The house was beautiful. Thank you for sharing your generous home with us. I can't believe we had so many people in the home and it never felt crowded. Loved hanging out in Ur screened in porch. If u enjoy cooking, the kitchen is fully loaded for preparing any meal u can dream of. World Cup games in the living room to ping ping tourneys in the basement. Board games galore. Loved the walks downtown for great coffee, shopping and fireworks.Blueberry picking for $1.80/lb was too good to be true! Next time we will bring out tennis racquets and use those beautiful courts next door. We all made such great memories over the forth and hope to make many more in this rental. Thanks!

Excellent getaway home for families

  • 5 of 5
My wife, our 6-month old and I spent July 4th weekend in this Saugatuck home with 4 families netting: 10 adults, 4 children and 2 infants. Our stay was lovely for a variety of reasons, largely attributed to the property.

The space is incredible -- expansive common areas (kitchen, dining, family rooms, porches) allowed both interaction and privacy, as per need. We stayed in a quaintly appointed bedroom tucked away atop the garage. The decor is well thought out: upscale, functional with a mid-century modern aesthetic. It's a 5-min walk, with stroller, for a coffee at Uncommon Grounds in downtown Saugatuck. Oval beach, downtown Douglas, groceries are no more than a quick drive. If amenities matter, there is a fully-appointed (and thoroughly labeled) kitchen, outdoor grill, fireplace, TVs with cable, high-speed Internet, game room, built-in-speakers -- you get the picture.

West Michigan has been our preferred getaway from Chicago for 3+ years and we have spent many weekends at vacation rentals. This particular home is simply excellent as the owners have clearly spent much time and energy to create an exemplary hospitality experience. The furnishings, upkeep and attention to detail are at the level of a private home (or better). It is by far the best rental property we have had the pleasure to experience.

We hope to be back very soon.

Perfect for our Family

  • 5 of 5
The location of this home seems perfect: an easy few-block walk to Saugatuck, yet far enough away that all you hear are the birds. This home is beautiful and has a wonderful, large screened-in porch. Our family (of 9 - 16 to 63) spent many hours relaxing, chatting, playing games, taking naps on this porch. (I want one.) The dining room table was big enough for all of us (my niece wants one of these). The HVAC kept all of us comfortable - on any floor. We rented a pontoon one afternoon for a couple of hours - not a fancy boat, but worth the price. We made a fire in the fireplace on the back patio and had s'mores one night. And, of course, we walked the marina to check out all the boats, and shopped the many stores. There's a small grocery within a mile or so, but we went to the Meiers in Holland for most of our grocery trips. Everyone in our family remarked at how much they liked the house and the location. This is our tenth year of getting away together - we would definitely consider renting again and recommending to friends.

Perfect venue

  • 5 of 5
We rented this house in Saugatuck for our first family reunion. It was such a great experience, and exactly what we needed to accommodate 6 babies/toddlers, 2 sets of grandparents, and 2 sets of sleep deprived parents.

The house itself is immaculate, well decorated, and has anything and everything you could possibly want. From the kitchen (knives so sharp we realized just how much we need to get our chef knives sharpened, Le Creuset dutch oven) to the multiple seating areas, to the toddler toys and bunk bed rooms, to the comfortable beds, this is the place you want to stay.

It's also within walking distance to the main downtown area with playgrounds, boat rentals, ice cream shops, and restaurants.
