If you have a large group, we have 5 tipis at this location, 3 additional Treehouse / Cabins as well as the original homestead house for rent. Also, be sure to check out our other locations: Reservation on the Guadalupe and River Road Treehouses.
New Braunfels and the surrounding area has so much to offer: tons of Live Music venues, Schlitterbahn Water Park, Gruene Hall (which is the oldest dance hall in Texas), the beautiful Guadalupe and Comal Rivers which have excellent tubing, the picturesque Canyon Lake and Lake Placid which offer fun daily boat rentals and the many great restaurants located down town as well as the great tasting local BBQ and burgers in the area! We are also a short drive from the San Marcos outlet malls as well as San Antonio to see the Alamo, River Walk, Sea World and much more.
The Treehouse Cabins are newly built, beautiful, nicely furnished, timber-framed cabins with large decks that overlook the Geronimo Creek. A stand of large pecan trees shade the units with their broad canopies. The kitchens are fully equipped and the house has everything you need to make sure your stay is relaxing and joyful. The game room is nearby with a ping pong table and hot tub. Kayaks, paddle boards, fishing poles, horse-shoes, BBQ and fire pits are on-sight for your use.
The Geronimo Creek is a gorgeous spring fed creek lined with centuries old great big pecan trees. The water is cool and inviting, our location has been a favorite Texas swimming hole since the 1930’s though all of the accommodations are newly built.
Do you long to swim and fish in the river like you were a kid again? Want to relax with a cold drink while you chill out in a lawn chair enjoying the feel of warm Texas sunshine on your face? Geronimo Creek Retreat is such a peaceful, beautiful and relaxing property that people just fall in love with it and want to come back right away.
Though you feel like you are way out in the county when you are on the property, due to the silence at night and the bright stars overhead, we are conveniently located just minutes away from all the fun activities, shopping and great restaurants that New Braunfels, Gruene and San Marcos have to offer. Lake Placid is also very nearby and has boat rentals for you to enjoy! Seguin is conveniently close with an HEB supermarket, Walmart should you need groceries or forget anything.
Could not have asked for a better place to spend Christmas then Geronimo Creek Retreat. We stayed in one of the tree houses and what an experience. When I posted pictures on social media, the response was "how did you find that place" and "that is awesome." It was awesome and the word retreat is a great description. The grounds are surrounded by woods with a creek just a few feet away. You do retreat into peace and nature.
The cabin is very comfortable with a "spiral" staircase into the alcove, which has two queen size beds. The master bedroom has a king size bed fit for a king!
Couldn't have asked for a better get a way!
Wonderful find in the middle of Sequin but close to lots to do in nearby New Braunfels, Seguin or Gruene. My boys loved staying in a tree house, hot tubing it and somemores on the open pit. Kayaking right there and an awesome rope swing that was fun for all. Perfect place for large groups friends/family. Really well done, I found it a bit pricey per night but it is a gorgeous find!
This was a fantastic destination for our Columbus day weekend. We loved the tree houses with plenty of room for our family of four. The interior was extremely clean and comfortable! The kids loved kayaking and playing ping pong in the rec room. Plenty of space to have simultaneous volleyball and football games:)
Geronimo Creek Retreat is amazing! There really is something for everyone here. If you want to relax, you can sit out on the tree house deck, in a hammock or on a swing and enjoy the scenery and the company. The creek was a big hit with the kids who used the kayaks and the rope swing and then warmed up in the hot tub. One member of our group brought a volleyball net, and there was plenty of space to play and not interfere with the boys who played football in another open area. In the rec room, the ping pong table got a lot of use, and we built a fire in the pit each night and made s'mores.
No one stayed in the Homestead House or the tipis, but I'm sure they would've been lovely as well. The kids thought about staying in the tipis, since there is no wifi, they decided that the sacrifice would be too much. The adults were deterred by the thought of having to go outside to use the restrooms at night, and since we all had the option of indoor plumbing, we decided we didn't have to "rough it."
We didn't leave the property, but there are plenty of options nearby in New Braunfels and Gruene if you need to "get away from getting away."
The wifi in the treehouses wasn't working, so I sent an email to Mike Prendergast, the property manager, and he came out within an hour on a Saturday to fix it. (We felt badly to have disturbed him on the weekend, especially since it wasn't an emergency. He was so gracious and wanted to make sure that we enjoyed everything about our stay; he really defines great customer service.) I stayed at GCR 18 months ago, and it's obvious the owners want this to be a great experience; there were improvements that had been made since my first visit.
We didn't take advantage of everything the property has to offer, but will definitely be back. This is a perfect destination for a family reunion, company retreat, etc. We were the only ones on the property at the time, but it's large enough that sharing the amenities wouldn't be a problem.
The only suggestions to improve the experience would be to have been if there had been some smaller logs in the wood pile to make lighting the fire easier. Also, we couldn't find any darts to use on the dart board, and several of the games in the rec room were not complete. I feel silly even mentioning those issues because they are so minor, but the management seems so concerned with ensuring that the guests have a great time, I thought I would provide that feedback.
GCR is a gem!
We are mature ladies who travel together often. The cabin was perfect for us and we did fine with one bathroom. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The view from the deck was a real delight; ours was a bit sunny in the evening but we just moved downstairs. Just a delightful stay at Sweet Medicine. We have already made reservations for our next visit.
Our family is from Houston and we're always on the run, Geronimo creek provided us with the opportunity to relax and enjoy some much needed R & R in a completely family oriented and inviting atmosphere. Cabins are very comfortable and it's nice that kayaks, life vests, fishing poles, sports equipment, etc., are provided. Complete Serenity!
Centrally located, Geronimo Creek Retreat, is only minutes from all the fun activities, live music, shopping and great restaurants that New Braunfels, Gruene and San Marcos have to offer yet it feels like it is a million miles away. Bright stars shine at night, and but for the occasional Owl hoot and cricket chirps it is peaceful and quiet. You will absolutely fall in love with this place, families and friends come back year after year.
The nearest town, Seguin is just a few miles away and has all the necessities you need including: HEB supermarket, Walmart, and wide variety of restaurants and shops should you need groceries or forget anything. The small town of Geronimo is also a few miles away and has some of the best antique shopping in the area.
