So peaceful and relaxing. We celebrated our 5 yr anniversary and we could not have picked a better place to relax and reconnect. We will definitely be returning customers but next time we will bring the kiddos! Animals are well behaved, cabin is rustic and comfortable, there is plenty to see and do + the lake is full of bass that are easily accessible by the private pier or the paddle boat. Owners are amazing! Can't wait to go back.
From the moment we drove up, we were in love! The quaint, rustic cabin, the view, the animals, we loved it all! We stood outside before going into the cabin, taking it all in, taking pictures, listening to the quietness! Living in the city, we hear traffic, sirens, barking dogs, screaming kids, the normal sounds of city life, as noisy as the city is, is how quiet it was at the cabin! We walked into the cabin, taking everything in, opened the cupboards, the refrigerator, everything is supplied.....fresh fruit, fresh eggs, Apple walnut bread, coffee, even water in the fridge! We did not go into town once we got there, we could not tear ourselves away from paradise! We enjoyed meeting the animals, the chickens jump right up on your chair.....one helped himself several times to my drink! Needless to say I had to get a fresh drink! There is all kinds of seating outdoors. I enjoyed watching the sun come up over the hills, drinking my coffee, my first thought was, the only thing missing are the deer! I glanced up and over in the pasture were two baby deer! We enjoyed the fireplace, roasting marshmallows and making smores and listening to the crackling fire! The stars are beautiful there at night! I have listed all the pros on the place, the only cons are when you have to leave! We went into town as we were leaving and stopped for breakfast, after all the quietness we enjoyed, the noise o err breakfast was almost unbearable! We will definitely be going back and will definitely spread the word about this place, but not too much, we wouldn't want it to get so booked up we could not enjoy it again! Julie was very nice, as was the guy(forgive me, forgot his name) who introduced us to all the animals and told me about the walking paths! If it were an option, I would give this place 10 stars! If you like, rustic, quaint and quiet, you will love this place! The only thing you have to pack are your clothes and food, everything else is provided!!!! Thank you, Julie for sharing your piece of paradise with us!! Gary and Shirley Bernzott
Julie, we can't thank you enough for such a wonderful vacation. The cabin is better than described. So peaceful, the animals are beautiful. The dogs are great guides to the trails on the property. We caught huge bluegills in the lake, enjoyed using the paddleboat. We loved watching the moon come up over the hills, and watching the deer and turkey come out in the evening. Thanks to Cliff for his expert horse instruction - first time I have been on a horse in almost 40 years! And thanks for inviting us to the Cowboy Bar, we so enjoyed meeting your friends. Everything was just great, we hope to come back soon. Nancy and Greg.
We had such a wonderful time. We were there to celebrate our 18th anniversary. I am a workaholic and was disappointed in the spotty wifi. Well I thought I was disappointed, after the first couple of hours I forgot all about working. In fact, all of us forgot about all of our electronics! I have never seen the girls so happy! They love animals and could not get enough of the horses and the donkey. The cabin was wonderful. Letting the breeze blow with the doors open was like magic. There are so many things we enjoyed, I could go on for days. Like the fresh eggs, fruit, and orange juice to the paddle boat sunsets, the great fishing stories, to the girls running out of the cabin in their pj's just to see the animals. We had such an amazing time and want to thank you for letting us borrow your "paradise" for the few days we were there.
I hope we get to return soon!!!

We just spent a delightful weekend at Cool Water Acres and loved everything about it! We were met by happy, smiling dogs and a flock of beautiful chickens. Our neat and tidy home-away-from-home was filled with so many fun details: fresh eggs and fruit in the fridge (in the fully-equipped kitchen), a comfy couch, a cozy window seat, firm mattress on the queen bed, cowboy/western-themed art and accessories, direct TV, a collection of video tapes and books,Texas Highways magazines, big screened-in patio, original wood on the porch and throughout the house and much, much more. The hosts are the coolest - very gracious and friendly. They made us feel very much at home. The dogs visited us each day. The horses let us pet them and one chicken showed her appreciation for a few vegetable scraps by laying an egg on the porch! The house has great cross-ventilation, especially in the front area, so we only used the AC to cool the house down when we returned from our day's outing. My husband enjoyed using the electric boat to do some catch and release fishing. We used the peddle boat to get a good look at the whole lake. We saw deer on the property at night. We didn't use it, but the house also has a grill for cooking outdoors. Cool Water Acres is very close to Bandera with its great music venues. The 11th Street Cowboy Bar and Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar are favorites. Be sure to go to Mac and Ernie's Roadside Eatery just inside Tarpley on 470. What a surprise! I could go on and on, but needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend the place highly!
Bandera is known as the Cowboy Capital of the World. All the buildings in our small town are of Western design, we have many good restaurants, fun Honky-Tonk saloons, some family oriented, and talented country music artists play every night for enjoyment or dancing. It is common to see cowboys riding horses through town, and sometimes they even share the roads with motorcycle enthusiasts. During warm weather there are 2 rodeos in town every week where you can watch lots of cowboy action. People in the town are very friendly and folks wave to each other as they pass on the roads. There are many spectacular drives around the Texas Hill Country from Bandera, and during the Spring, beautiful wildflowers are visible everywhere along the highways.
