Hammondsport Cabin Rental Photos and Description
1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4
Rustic as in solar electric, primitive amenities, but warm and cozy ideal for weekend getaway. Features woodstove and backup propane heat. Pondview cabin features tea light powered chandelier, two full size beds and pullout single sleeper sofa. Well insulated and hardwood floors. This is smallest cabin but the warmest cabin. Located on 20 wooded acres with hiking trails, outdoor pavilion with fire ring and propane/charcoal grills, includes coffee press/percolator as well as complete set of cast iron griddles/fire irons for cooking over open fire for the hardy camper. Lighthouse cabin features 19 windows with tea light lanterns and large wood stove. Electric is limited for lights and electronics. Sorry no TV or internet. (cell phone reception is fair as we are six miles from closest town/store) a little larger and not insulated but the large wood stove will keep you warm with my match ready fire system. Personal phone conversation required prior to booking to insure guests satisfaction. This way i can customize your arrival and have your cabin warm and fire lit for those late arrivals for weary travelers. Trust me, you don't want to show up in the dark without a little help. Cabins are very private and each has it's own private drive and rustic facilities. Be sure to ask about our guided or unguided excursions! Lake cruise, fishing, gorge hikes, antique barns, alpaca farm & mill, winery tours just to name a few! I am an expert at enjoying the pearl of the finger lakes!

I purchased 20 acres about an hour south of Rochester as a weekend getaway with the hopes of building a retirement home someday. This cabin was purchased on the roadside from a roadside auto dealer going out of business. To this day I camp in this little solar powered gem with ample lighting and heat. I t has a propane coffee press as well as its own little off the grid amenities such as 12v to AC invertor, cast iron griddles etc.
Although purchased as a future home site for my wife and I, we soon realized the cost of running electric, running water etc. combined with four kids in college was unrealistic at this time. We have found such little things as pressing your coffee with water heated over open flame, as opposed to your Kuerig machine is a small price to pay for enjoying the peace and quiet.
With todays rising costs for getting away from the city we feel this is a perfect retreat for many guests from all over the world.
Large covered pavilions with fire rings, outdoor 'cowboy kitchens' as well as some really cool spots for just hanging out in the woods. You drive right by this little paradise in the woods without even knowing its nestled back in beyond line of sight. Incredibly private and my 'nice doggies welcome' policy make for a nice little get away. Minutes from local wineries, alpaca farm & mill, as well as Hammondsport and Penn Yan.
