Our family has been vacationing in Healdsburg for many years and we made it our home over 25 years ago. This is a great place for a vacation but also a great place to live!
It is a short trail walk to the river for swimming or hiking. We enjoy walking the trails that go along the ridge of the mountain for spectacular views of Healdsburg.
What a gem this place is! Really, the photos don't do it justice. This quaint, cute cabin is like taking a trip back in time to nostalgia with all the modern conveniences of the 21st century! Loved the wood paneled walls and the pull string light fixtures. The property goes down to the Russian River (what is left of it); go down and sit a spell on the lower deck for happy hour. The cabin is down a country lane and feels very secluded. It was quiet the first night; unfortunately the second night there was some kind of sports tournament not too far away as the crow flies. The screaming and yelling from that went on until midnight, believe it or not. Not cool. When the ball fields are empty it is very peaceful and serene. In any case, I did not want to leave. Great location for wine tasting in Dry Creek Valley!
We loved this quaint cabin. The size was good for two, there were lots of places on the site to sit while reading or sipping wine, it was peaceful yet close to town. It came equipped with enough dishes and kitchen implements. The fans were nice for the hot part of the day. Loved watching the quails, humming birds, and other birds. Having access to the river was great. Kate, the owner, was wonderful.
Some windows had no screens, so moths and other insects would come in. One must be comfortable with some bugs and cobwebs. Could use a good sweeping to rid the high places of cobwebs. Someone with mobility issues might have some trouble getting up and down the pathways. A dishwasher and clothes washing machine would be an excellent addition. Otherwise, we loved the place and would come back.
My wife & I recently stayed at the cabin & had a wonderful time. We've used VRBO many times & recognize that there can be surprises to us renters. We thought the house was fine, yes there were some cobwebs. We enjoyed the various decks & chairs & utilized them all. We went down to the river, actually more like a creek this year, and enjoyed a nice walk & a swim for me. We went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday, bought lunch supplies & relaxed at the house all day. We saw a family of quail, including some babies, down by the "red chairs". All in all a most enjoyable place to stay, close to town, but very quiet. Healdsburg has a number of very good restaurants or shops for purchases for home cooking.
This was my third stay with my spouse and once again we left saying to each other "we've got to come back again". I was pleasantly surprised to find the addition of a hot tub since we were there the last time and we spent some time after breakfast relaxing in the warm, soothing water. There was also a new gas heater installed in the fireplace which really was welcome first thing in the morning and I didn't have to feel concerned about burning firewood during a very stubborn drought so I applaud Kate for making that change. It was also our first trip back since Kate bought and installed the bee hive. Again I applaud Kate for doing her part to help save the honey bee. I stood and watched those "busy little bees" as they entered and left the hive. Remarkable creatures. I loved sitting outside in the quiet of the morning listening to the birds and watching them play in the trees. We love this place and if you need some quiet time away from your busy life you need to check this place out. I'm a city guy with a country heart and this place does my heart real good! Thanks again Kate. We'll be back.
This cabin is adorable, the view out the back is lovely, and the area very peaceful. The bed, including the mattress and linens, are very comfortable. Overall, we had a wonderful stay once we settled in.
We had been verbally told check in was 3pm. An emailed document provided by Kate stated the same. We arrived at 2:30pm and sent Kate a text that we were early. At 3pm we received a text from Kate that the cleaning crew wasn’t finished at the house so it wouldn’t be ready until 4pm. We were actually at the cabin at the time and no one (no cleaning crew) was there.
I don’t know if any of the following would have deterred us from renting the cabin but I would have liked to have known:
There is a steep stair, with no handrail, from the street to the cabin yard. Be prepared for several trips up and down to bring your things in.
It is impossible to walk in the yard and not bring pea gravel into the cabin. No broom was provided to deal with it.
The place is full of cobwebs. The ones on the ceiling are acceptable but the ones under the furniture and in the corners indicate halfhearted cleaning.
There are no smoke detectors. The mounting rings are there but the actual smoke detectors are missing.
The curtain in bathroom, facing the neighbor, doesn’t go all the way down. It was a bit creepy when using the facilities.
The hot tub can be seen from the street; however, there were few cars and less people walking by.
There are two bee hive boxes on the path to the lower deck. While I am not deathly allergic to bees, I do have a good sized phobia.
There is a Kuerig machine so bring your coffee pods.
The parking is not really off street. There is a section of dirt you pull over on to but you will need to let your passenger out first.
A limited supply of toilet paper was provided. One roll on the holder and one in reserve. No tissue was provided.
The provided spices are limited and do not include black pepper or salt.
There is a fire pit but we were told we could not have a fire due to the dry conditions.
I recently spent 4 days in this wonderful cabin. Every minute was a delight. The owner was wonderful, and had everything needed stocked that was needed for a relaxing four days. The bed was comfy, cozy. The fireplace kept the evening chill out. The jacuzzi was on and running, upon arrival. The the view was spectacular.
I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone that needs a break from the city, a romantic get away, or simply a place to enjoy friendships with a great bottle of wine, from a nearby winery. Exceptional says it all.
