Our family has been vacationing in Healdsburg for many years and we made it our home over 25 years ago. This is a great place for a vacation but also a great place to live!
It is a short trail walk to the river for swimming or hiking. We enjoy walking the trails that go along the ridge of the mountain for spectacular views of Healdsburg.
Only a few minutes from downtown Healdsburg, we find this one-bedroom, one-bath, 1920's mountain cabin that is perched about 100 feet above the Russian River. As we open the wooden gate at the entrance to this very private property, we are greeted by a beautiful oak tree with outstretched arms. To the right there is a primitive outdoor stove, reminiscent of a bygone time, adjacent to a modern 4-person hot tub. A gravel path leads us past a large stainless steel grill to the left and on to the cabin. A wonderfully creaky screen door welcomes us into the cabin and we find a cozy living room with knotty pine walls and an exposed beam ceiling. A comfy couch and chairs, with luxuriously soft throw blankets, surround a stone fireplace with a gas log insert. Wi-Fi is provided as are Pandora and Netflix on the 30" flat panel television above the mantle. The fire is lit and the cabin is warm and inviting. On the back wall there are the shelves with books, magazines and information on the surrounding area. A floor to ceiling 9-panal window on the left wall provides views to the lush greenery outside. Through the glass French doors on the back wall, we find a screened in porch with two Adirondack chairs and a dining table and chairs that look out to a sloping back yard, an outdoor fire pit, the Russian River, hundreds and hundreds of acres of the Seghesio vineyards and nothing else but rolling hills and the mountains beyond. After taking in the magnificent views, we proceed into the quaint but well appointed kitchen and find a sink, oven/stove, refrigerator, coffee maker and corkscrew. Of course, we only really need the corkscrew as we have restaurants already selected for every meal. A hallway leads us back to a bathroom with slate shower and the bedroom with a raised Queen size bed that looks so comfortable. Last but not least, the proprietor is first class, very accommodating and available if you need her. We highly recommend this beautiful property. Enjoy!!
I needed a place to stay while at a 2-day meeting in Healdsburg. Based upon the description, I thought it would be a small and mostly unheated place that I could dash in and out of... I wish I could have stayed all week! I was hooked from the moment I saw the steps leading to the garden courtyard dotted with faerie lights and the small sign: "Relax. You're at the cabin." The rooms are well-appointed, filled with charming details. I didn't have a chance to explore the trails (will have to come back). The hot tub was perfect for relaxing under the stars after a day in meetings. I am almost reluctant to leave a review because I want to keep this a hidden treasure!
Coming from the Virgin Islands, and being in the vacation rental business myself, I was prepared for anything from this last minute booking we made during one of the busy 'wine weekends' in Sonoma. What I wasn't prepared for was this perfect little house for our stay! The Cabin has everything you need, and it's actually hard to leave it. We had cocktails in the garden on one side of the house, morning tea on the screened deck then breakfast smoothies in the garden on the other side of the house. We walked down a meandering road to the edge of the Russian River, all peaceful and removed from civilization, and yet from the Cabin, we were only a two minute drive to downtown Healdsburg. My husband and I both felt like we were experiencing a bit of history--when city folk had a 'camp' up on the river. But don't be fooled, the Cabin has all the modern amenities; so when you are tired of chewin' on tobaccy and whittlin', you can check your email and stream a movie on netflicks in front of the gas (no flame danger or carbon footprint) fire!
Such an adorable cabin rental! My husband and I were in town for the Pigs and Pinot Event down in town and this was only a few minute drive away which was perfect. The owner was more than helpful and was there to meet us and give us a tour and make sure we had everything we needed. I think we had 2 of the best nights sleep we've ever had and we can't wait to come back next Spring! Thanks!
What a gem this place is! Really, the photos don't do it justice. This quaint, cute cabin is like taking a trip back in time to nostalgia with all the modern conveniences of the 21st century! Loved the wood paneled walls and the pull string light fixtures. The property goes down to the Russian River (what is left of it); go down and sit a spell on the lower deck for happy hour. The cabin is down a country lane and feels very secluded. It was quiet the first night; unfortunately the second night there was some kind of sports tournament not too far away as the crow flies. The screaming and yelling from that went on until midnight, believe it or not. Not cool. When the ball fields are empty it is very peaceful and serene. In any case, I did not want to leave. Great location for wine tasting in Dry Creek Valley!
We loved this quaint cabin. The size was good for two, there were lots of places on the site to sit while reading or sipping wine, it was peaceful yet close to town. It came equipped with enough dishes and kitchen implements. The fans were nice for the hot part of the day. Loved watching the quails, humming birds, and other birds. Having access to the river was great. Kate, the owner, was wonderful.
Some windows had no screens, so moths and other insects would come in. One must be comfortable with some bugs and cobwebs. Could use a good sweeping to rid the high places of cobwebs. Someone with mobility issues might have some trouble getting up and down the pathways. A dishwasher and clothes washing machine would be an excellent addition. Otherwise, we loved the place and would come back.
