Recently visited San Miguel de Allende with my wife and two children (Girl 8, Boy 5), along wth my brother's family of the same size. We had a fantastic trip overall, but really fell in love with the incredible peace and tranquility of Luna Serena. We stayed in the guest apartment, which was nicely accomodated for our two families. The residence was locally furnished and appointed to its surroundings. The kids loved waking up to see the beautiful blonde palomino horses, prancing in the cool morning air. The parents enjoyed selectig a different patio for each part of the day. We watched the moon setting across the mountains early in the morning from the rooftop. Had breakfast in the sheltered courtyard patio, then read a book in the shade of the back patio during the warm part of the afternoon. The kids cooled off in the pool, then enjoyed walking around the various themed gardens that surround th property.
We were warmly welcomed by the owners, Victor and Sue. At one point I was needing to connect to the office via inernet (not great on vacation ... but) and Victor had a high speed connection set up the next day! Worked perfectly.
Te facility had a local family caretaking the property. They were incredibly accomodating to our family of "gringos" with brely high school Spanish.
Everyone had a trip not soon forgotten. Kids are now horseback riders and lovers, and are missing the freedom of running around the large property with the dogs.
As for their parents, my quote of the trip was from my brother about 3 days into the vacation, "I can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed so fast on vacation". San Miguel is a very special town and Victor and Sue's Luna Serena was the perfect accomodation for us. We're already planning our return!

Families with Teenagers,
Families with Young Children,
Our family spent 8 glorious days at the Villa Luna Serena Ranch in the middle of February 2011. Our children particularly enjoyed the freedom to run around the vast property. The played in the maze, swam in the pool and spent many afternoons riding and feeding the horses fresh carrots.
The home was incredibly inviting and had all the amenities and then some. We enjoyed eating el fresco at the beautiful outdoor dining area. We made homemade pizza in the wood fired oven on our last evening which was a big hit with the kids.
San Miguel Allende was surprisingly historic and yet modern in it's amenities and shopping. If you like silver jewelry this is a great place to go. The local market was a lot of fun and offered lots of mexican handcrafts to take home. The Town itself is a mecca for artists from around the world. There are lots of great restaurants to choose from, but a favorite for us was an Italian spot just down the road from the ranch - you would never expect to find yourself eating in a historic stone building with beautifully vaulted ceilings . Try it!
The adults enjoyed sitting on one of the patios watching the sunset over the mountains. Within 24 hours of arriving at the Ranch, we were all totally at peace and had never before been this relaxed on a vacation in such a short period of time. The weather was beautiful everyday, we never saw a drop of rain. The temperature reached between 25-29 daily.
Victor and Sue have created a peaceful oasis in the hills of Mexico. It might bring to mind Provence or Tuscany when you drive up and see the beautiful cypress trees! Thank you for all the hospitality, we had a vacation to remember and we hope to come back some day in the future. We would highly recommend this spot to friends and family.
