I am a semi-retired on-site property manager/owner. This property is my personal residence where I have lived since 1992 and lovingly remodeled and restored the house and cottage. I am originally from the Midwest but have lived in Sarasota since 1985. I understand and love the call of travel and the enjoyment of being somewhere that is authentic.
I bought this house for its peace, quiet and natural setting. People have called the place 'magical.' Built in 1926, it is a traditional Florida Southern Colonial. The grounds are large and kept in their natural Florida native state with a old oak hammock and jungle garden feel. It is located in an historic neighborhood walking distance to the Ringling Museum (of international fame for its religious baroque art collection and Circus Memorabilia) and to The Jungle Gardens (one of the last remaining original old style tourist attractions with a hand fed flock of pink flamingos.) The neighborhood is home to artists and history enthusiasts.
A walkable neighborhood with small good independent restaurants a few blocks away (Vietnamese, Italian, Chinese, American Café). Nearby kayak rental and sunset beach where the adventuresome put their kayaks in or fish in their waist high waders. Drug stores and a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market and Publix are just minutes away. And the Ringling College of Art and Design hosts a Starbucks and student exhibitions frequently as well as summer classes and other visiting artist events. Sarasota is a unique and lovely SW Florida City of culture and convenience to some of the world's best beaches. A short drive will also take you to state parks and to the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, other attractions in the Tampa Bay Region or Orlando Disney which is about a 1 and a 1/2 hour drive away.
