amazing and beautiful

My family stayed at the apartment for 4 days. We truly enjoyed our stay in this awesome apartment (modern design in an old historic building). It's clean and well maintained. Babara who is the owner is the most friendly and organise lady I met on this trip!! She gave us all the informations we need especially on foods which we tried all that is recommended and enjoyed every meal. Location is perfect. We could walk to all places of interest and restaurants are everywhere. The only regret we have is not staying longer as there is so much to see and do in Florence and a nice comfortable apartment to come back to. Thanks once again, Babara. We will be back again!

Great location

  • 3 of 5
The apartment is in a great location for exploring Florence on foot. It was clean and Barbara was a pleasure to work with. That being said...I was expecting a second bedroom separate from the living room. Also, there were issues with the lights in the kitchen and entry hall, they didn't work. Because there is no air conditioning, and unfortunately the temps in Florence were high, the apartment was very hot and we had to leave the bedroom window open at night, which meant the traffic noise from the street was terrible!
All in all, it is a great apartment.

Owner's Response: I am truly sorry that your holiday didn't meet your expectations as it is always my wish that my guests are comfortable and enjoy there stay . However you have made various complaints that I wish to address. Firstly, concerning the lights, in the kitchen there are 4 lights. unfortunately the day before your visit there was a very bad storm and one of the light bulbs fused. Since these are not easily bought I had to order one from a shop to substitute it. However there was sufficient light without this one light. Secondly you refer to the second bedroom which is a living room that can be transformed into a double or single sleeping area. I believe that this is clearly described and photographed on the website. Likewise we don't claim to have air-conditioning but we explain that we have excellent fans, Dyson being a very effective ventilator. In fact, in our original correspondence I specified that we didn't have air-conditioning and the booking was subsequently ma

I would like to point out that I usually recommend to my guests to keep the windows shut during the day. This way the apartment remains cooler, the warm air of the day remains outside. This apartment
is part of an old tower, dating back to the XIV century, the walls are more than a meter thick so much of the heat remains outside naturally.
Lastly, I would like to comment about the noise. There is only one window opening onto the street facing the Bardini Museum, and this is indeed can be somewhat noisy if the window is open. However the other windows open onto an interior courtyard and their isn't any noise.
Thanks! Barbara

Spectacular Tower House

  • 5 of 5
This place was amazing. We were only able to use wifi on our phones in Italy. When we got a cab at the airport we got the cab driver to call Barbara, the owner of the apartment. She met us a the apartment and helped us get our bags upstairs. In most European countries the first floor is actually the 2nd floor. The staircase is a narrow spiraling stairway. When we got upstairs we were greeted with a stunning modern room with 2 beds that doubled as couches, a dinning table for 4 , a 37" tv with cable, and a view of a small courtyard. The kitchen was small but efficient, with a 2 burner stove, sink, microwave and small refrigerator. The bathroom had a great shower with a rain head and enough room for a party. You went through the shower to get to the washer. The bed room was a queen sized bed on a platform. Very comfortable. We were there for three weeks, so we had plenty of bedding and towels for our stay.

After showing us the place Barbara showed us the complimentary bottle of wine and how to use the facilities .She then went over some of the places to visit and some of the restaurants to choose. The SE-IO was one we were interested in so she made the reservations for us the following Friday. Another was Mama Ginas'. Both were within walking distance. There were also several Trattorias on the Arno that were great stops for lunch or appertifs. The local grocery store had a great selection of fresh pastas and cheeses, so we were able to cook several dinners at the apartment.

This is the first time I've ever had a landlord spend this much time with us, This apartment is on the working side of the Arno. From the front of the apartment you can see the Duomo, the Uffuzzi , Santa Croce, and many others. We walked to all of the tour starting areas. We also walked to the train station to take the train to Lucca and other towns. The best gelato is just down the street across from the Pitti Palace. The grocery store is also just down the street next to the Pointe Veccio. We were also just below the Bardini Gardens and Boboli Gardens. There were many cafe's for cappucinno, and many gelato stores close by. Florence is not a handicap friendly town. the streets and sidewalks are cobblestone and rutty. Traffic is frantic. BUT THIS A CITY TO ENJOY. The history is fascinating and the people were friendly. My thanks to Barbara for making this celebration of our 50th anniversary so memorable.

Wonderful apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful week in Barbara's apartment. My husband and I, and our 2 sons (aged 11 and 14) loved the character-filled apartment. The location was perfect - only a 5-10 minute walk to the supermarket, the Ponte Vecchio and the Bardini Gardens, and gelatos can be bought nearby. In fact, the apartment is only a short walk to all of the attractions of Florence. Barbara was very friendly and her communication was always prompt. The facilities were good and everything we needed was supplied. The beds were comfy. Perhaps the only minor negative was the street noise on a couple of nights. The sounds could only be heard in the front bedroom, but if you are a light sleeper, you might want to consider earplugs. We would love to stay in Barbara's apartment again, one day. Thank you Barbara!

Beautiful apartment in a great location with a lovely hostess.

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 5 had a wonderful time in Florence, thanks to Barbara and her lovely apartment. The location was perfect, close to the popular sites as well as some hidden gems (our favorite was the Boboli Gardens of the Palazzo Pitti). The apartment was spacious and comfortable for our party of 5, which included 2 teenagers. We especially enjoyed the large shower and ample hot water. Barbara's recommendations on where to eat and what to see were especially helpful. She was kind and helpful from our first email contact to our departure. Our only regret is that we were only able to stay 2 nights. We would definitely recommend this apartment to family and friends, and will stay here again when we are next in Florence.

Eine perfekte Unterkunft mit viel Geschichte!

  • 5 of 5
Vielen Dank, Barbara! Grazie per tutto!!
