Enjoy all that the Northeast Kingdom has to offer while staying at a cozy renovated schoolhouse. Updated with modern comforts including a large kitchen with breakfast nook and plenty of counter space, new appliances, and a dishwasher. Relax in the great room with conversation area, DISH TV, and DVD/VCR player. A large farm table seats 8 people comfortably.

There is one bedroom downstairs with a double bed, and 2 bedrooms upstairs each with queen size beds. A full bath is located downstairs. There is also a washer and dryer, wood stove, and ping pong table in the basement level. schoolhouse sits on an acre of wooded land and is bordered by a brook in the backyard.

Horseback riding in summer and sleigh rides in winter are available at a farm down the road.

In summer enjoy one of the many weekly farmer's markets, where local farmers, craftsmen and artisan sell their creations. Vermont's rural character provides a welcome relief from the hectic pace of life.

Shopping: The closet town is Littleton, NH. Here you will find a Shaw's Supermarket, Walmart, Loew's, Home Depot, and TJMaxx. There are also several chain restaurants: The '99', Applebee's, McDonald's, Pizza Hut to name a few. Downtown Littleton has a variety of restaurants for all tastes and budgets. Browse local craft shops, boutiques, and the famous 'Chutter's' candy store: Home of the largest candy counter in the world! Further down route 93 is the quaint town of Franconia. Here you will find 'The Garnet Hill Outlet.' Next door is a wonderful cafe called Wendell's for great sandwiches and coffee drinks.

Farmer's Markets: Vermont has many Farmer's markets. St. Johnsbury holds their's on Saturdays and Littleton has one on Sundays. There is often live music, a variety of produce, baked goods, crafts, and lunch items.

A few notes...: Due to only one bathroom and a septic system, we like to keep groups to a maximum of 6 people. Anymore would be overwhelming for the septic system!

Weather conditions can be treacherous in the winter. An AWD of 4WD vehicle is recommended.

*We will consider allowing small dog(s) under 18 pounds with an additional $50 charge.

Located midway between Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT, Concord, VT provides wooded serenity, yet close proximity to restaurants, shopping, and Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch. Our property is located 5 miles from Interstate 93. We are near the Moore Reservoir and picturesque Shadow Lake.

The area is known for year-round recreational activities. In summer there is hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and mountain biking. Great area to bring your ATV. Miles of dirt roads to explore. A farm down the road offers horseback riding.

In the winter down-hill and cross-country skiing, and snow shoeing. We are also located close to the VASA Trails for snowmobiling enthusiasts. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

I love how what we saw is what we got ! and more !!
Great location, really really quiet for perfect relaxation. Plus it is well located to be able to do some sightseeing, shopping and outdoor sports... (Kingdom trails for mountain biking really not that far... dream come true trails !!)
it is easy to find, really well equipped as mentionned, and really nothing to complain about !

We spent a long spring weekend tucked in at Brook Schoolhouse. It was just what we needed ... away from the bustle but close to Fanconia Notch and lots of covered bridges. Hard ot beat comfort, history and quiet! It was a great base camp for exploring a lovely part of Vermont and New Hampshire.

Staying at the Brook Schoolhouse was the highlight of our recent summer vacation. The charming, red schoolhouse is nestled in the beauty and tranquility of the Vermont country side. The schoolhouse was close enough to offer day trips by car to the quaint villages of Littleton, St. Johnsbury, Franconia Notch and many more. The shopping, antiquing, and fine dining of these small towns gave us plenty to do during the day. The school house was well equipped for cooking and especially, relaxing. The host provided us with an excellent guide of places to go and things to see while staying at the house. It was a perfect fit for our vacation plans and one day we hope to return and enjoy its surroundings in winter!

A beautiful house with lots of character!

We spent a late-winter weekend in this beautiful, historic schoolhouse
and loved every minute of it. What a fantastic trip to the Northeast
Kingdom of Vermont to get away from our very urban and suburban MA area.
Very convenient to get do - short drive from many New England areas,
about 2 hours for us from upper Cape Cod. The house was wonderful in so many ways. A historic building, absolutely charming, with old wood floors and lots of windows to let in the light, cozy and warm in the cold winter. Classic rustic Vermont character but renovated and updated to be comfortable and fully equipped. We enjoyed eating breakfast in the sunny kitchen, watching birds at the birdfeeder just outside the window, and gazing onto the woods in the backyard. We went hiking and snowshoeing in the woods just outside the house – where we were treated to the sights of many animal tracks (including what were probably moose!). The location is great – off the “beaten track” enough to be quiet, but close enough to
both Littleton and Concord to stock up on supplies or eat a great
pizza at a microbrewery restaurant. The house is easily big enough to
host a family – but also cozy enough for just a few! We will
definitely return and look forward to the Spring and Summer.
Should be a great spot for spring migration birding, and spring/summer
hiking and other outdoor activities. Highly recommended!

A lovely, stylish getaway!

My husband and I recently spent New Year's Eve in this lovely little Schoolhouse and it more than exceeded our expectations. It is comfortable and relaxing, very tastefully decorated, and immaculate. We went snowshoeing in the orchards right behind the house, watched birds in the morning over coffee, and cooked wonderful meals in the perfectly equipped kitchen. Why stay in a hotel when you can stay in what feels like a cozy, wonderful home? Did I mention the toasty wood stove? A total Vermont experience.
