This good sized two bedroom apartment is two minutes walk from Central Brixton, and the Brixton tube station. At 800sqft it contains a large living room and separate good sized kitchen, two double bedrooms, and a bathroom. It is laid out over two floors of an attractive Victorian row house. It contains good quality furniture and appliances. It is lived in by the owner part of the year and kept in top shape. Note: photos are from previous owner. Similar setup, but different (nicer in my opinion) furniture.
Brixton has become one of the new hot areas for food, entertainment and hanging out in London. Brixton Market was voted Britain's best private market in 2013. It has a unique atmosphere that is a mix of pop-up restaurants and bars (unique new restaurants in small spaces) and international food stalls with a large Caribbean influence. The food selection beats just about anywhere in London with a wide variety of local and ethnic choices.
The historic Brockwell Park is a 15 minute walk away with its unique Lido (outdoor pool) with a elegant restaurant (the Lido Cafe) on premises. It has a wonderful view over London, a miniature railway for kids, 3 duck ponds, and a walled flower garden. In 2011 Adele (the singer) told the London Sun that she was not performing at music festivals, preferring 'sitting in Brockwell Park with my friends, drinking cider.'
The Ritzy cinema in Brixton is one of the best art cinemas in London with its own coffee house and Bar. Federation Coffee is one of the best coffee houses in London. Brixton has several nice pubs including Florence, Dogstar, Effra, The Grosvenor, Prince Albert, Duke of Edinburgh and SW9. Brixton is also home to many of the best known music venues in London including the Brixton Academy, JAMM, Plan B, the Windmill, and the Electric Brixton. Brixton is native home of David Bowie (born two blocks away) and the first electrified street in London, now one of the market streets. Although becoming gentrified, Brixton is not (yet) a high-class location for well heeled aristocrats. For that you are better off in Knightsbridge or Mayfair.
Brixton is a transportation hub. Victoria station is 1 stop away by train (5 minutes) and 3 stops by the tube on the Victoria Line with departures every 3 minutes. There are many bus lines out of Brixton. The london Eye and Buckingham palace are about 15 minutes away. Most of central London is accessible in 15-25 minutes by tube or bus.
The owner was born in England and lived in London as a child. He now lives in the US and bought the house to be able to come back to the UK when possible.
The property was specifically purchased for trips to London. On a reasonably quiet street, but a few minutes from the Tube, Grocery stores, and many restaurants.
