Surfing Hallows Beach - Info: When they talk about Hallows Beach, surfers say 'this is what a wave is all about'. Hollows is insane when it's firing. With good clean blue water, spitting barrels, and beautiful scenery. Best of all, Hollows Beach is basically your backyard! BUT, while Hollows is the main break here, there are a few other breaks in the area...El Momo, Las Arenas Punto de Panico, El Tahiti, El Reto, Mingo's Wedge. This was a company retreat which meant we had to work during our time in Puerto Rico and at Villa Rosa. Everyone raved about the space and it was perfect for 20 of us.
-Clear and fast communication with Manager
-Enough beds for 20 adults
-Areas inside and outside were perfect for hanging out day and night
-Nice to be able to walk to your "backyard" a private beach - we hardly saw anyone around during our 9 days there.
-Tata(housekeeper) is quick to response to call/texts or she'll just show up at the house for any questions or to fix something
-Pig roast was amazing, definitely do this if you have a large group
-Driveway was big enough to fit 7 cars and more (no street parking)
-Walmart Super Center is about 15-20 minutes away and you can buy all your groceries and household items (soup, paper towel, toilet paper, etc)
-Wi-Fi was spotty but it can be due to many of us using the internet at once
-Water pipe in kitchen burst at night - but was quickly fixed the next day
-Grill was not working correctly - but was quickly fixed the next day
-Cooking equipment is a little outdated
-Electricity was spotty during the day, sometimes we were not able to run the washer/dryer
-Stray dogs on the beach (they were super cute!) but they would come into our yard and pick trash which was a little bothersome
Overall it was a great experience for all of us. From inquiry to departing the villa, I (as the trip organizer) felt we were in good hands. Communication is key especially with a large group and I think everyone at Villa Rosa handled it professionally and effortlessly. Thanks Myrtle and Tata + Husband + Daughter for your hospitality!
The VillaRosa was the perfect place for our wedding! There was enough room for a party of 15 to stay for a week, gorgeous views of the beach- which we literally had to ourselves, a private pool and bar, and we were lucky enough to see whales from the back patio! Tata, the house manager, did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed and made sure our guests arrived safely from the airport. Zulma did a wonderful job with the food she prepared during the week and for our reception! Our wedding cake looked and tasted awesome! We enjoyed nights of movie watching, played dominoes, and even got an entertaining volleyball game in, at the wedding reception!
My husband and I enjoyed our 3rd floor retreat! We enjoyed sleeping outside, on the bed that's set up on the 3rd floor terrace. It was nice to be under the stars, hearing the waves crashing, enjoying the full moon. That bathroom! Beautiful! It definitely speaks for itself.
We truly had a great time at VillaRosa-Hallows Beach! Thank you, Myrtle-Rose for making this so easily enjoyable for us and our guests!
We had a wonderful family get together (15 family members) at this lovely beach property. It was a beautiful private beach and a very nice pool area. Everyone enjoyed the volleyball, ping-pong and lots of swimming. The location was reasonable to all the attractions we wanted to see (zip lining, bioluminescent bay, the caves and snorkeling). It was so nice to have an almost unlimited supply of beach towels available and outside showers to clean off the sand. Our family would love to rent this property again.
The perfect place for our wedding! My wife and I did a lot of research on where to host our destination wedding and this property had everything we were looking for: inspiring, large enough for 70 guests, room for our wedding party (8 couples) to stay for a week, gorgeous view of a secluded beach, away from the city, private pool and bar, value for money, unique and possessing that WOW factor. VillaRosa did not disappoint.
The property manager was lovely and was immediately available to help with any issues.
We had the time of our lives and would highly recommend this to our friends and family.
This villa has everything needed for a family vacation. Our group of 12 consisted of ages from 8-73 years. Our five grandchildren loved the pool area and beach. We had about 1 mile of what felt like private beach. Other than some surfers we had the beach entirely to ourselves. My wife and I got a 2 mile beach run/walk each day.
The children and some of the adults never left the ocean or pool.
The very large covered patio area (about 60 feet) with the view of the volley ball court, the dunes and the ocean was our home for most of our stay.
During our week, there was never a word from them about being bored. The property was very clean and provided us with essentials to make our stay comfortable.
Before arriving, I asked management to shop for use. This was accomplished without a problem. We had requested an arrival meal to be prepared for the group. Zulma was the chef in charge and we were delighted with her skill and knowledge. We used also Zulma for a large catered party and some additional dinners. She was a delight.
The owner of the property was fabulous in getting things coordinated for us. She set up a musician to sing and play local music and it was a big hit. We also ask for a magician to entertain and he was surprisingly safisticted hit. All went very well as planned.
The villa met or needs and management was very available. The property has everything needed. The owner of the property was fabulous in getting things coordinated for us.
We had a great time at Villarosa-Hallows beach. There was enough space for our group of 24. Tata, the house manager, was great to work with and very friendly. During our stay we had the pig roast on site which was quite the experience. We were lucky to stay at a time when the giant leatherback sea turtles were nesting and our group enjoyed our eco-experiences learning about these turtles from the local volunteer group Yo Amo El Tinglar. We even saw baby turtle hatchings coming out of their nests. Although the beach has some big waves, we felt save being in it. The best thing about this beach is that it is very quiet and private. Most of the days, our group was the only ones on the beach.
Arecibo is Puerto Rico's third largest city, which means you are close to all major amenities (supermarkets, Prime Shopping Outlets, movie theaters, etc.). Nevertheless, the house is located in the secluded neighborhood of Islote, with Hallows Beach right outside the back door. From Arecibo, you can delve into the entire northwest coast of Puerto Rico: the Cueva del Indio Cavern (5 mins), Punta Los Morrillos Lighthouse that includes an Aquarium and a Pirate Hide Out (10 mins), Rio Camuy Caves (30 minutes), Arecibo Astronomical Observatory (25 minutes), Cambalache Forest Reserve (20 mins), Toro Negro Rain Forest (60 minutes) and, of course, head for the BEST SURFING BEACHES of Puerto Rico! Hollows Beach is your backyard & a MUST to surf it if you hit PR! This wave is paradise for itself. The beach is known for it's very consistent, Regional Classic waves (150+ days/year). It is a welcome alternative to the ultra-crowded surfing beaches of Rincon and Isabela. (More Info Below)
