DIRECT LAKE FRONT IN ONE OF VERMONT'S MOST APPEALING TOWNS.

Shelburne House Rental Photos and Description

Open Plan 4 Bedroom 3 And A Half Baths On The Shores Of Lake Champlain

Flooded with sunshine in every season this modern cape features direct lake front and access from almost every room. The main floor has a very large open kitchen with granite island, Bluestar range, and custom Heath ceramic back splash. There is a dining area open to the kitchen, which flows into a desk area perfect for a laptop or large jigsaw puzzle. This floor has two bedrooms with queen beds and private baths. One has a whirlpool tub, two sinks and is the master, the other has a 3/4 bath and laundry facilities. They each have doors to the lawn. This floor also features a library and a living room with a wood burning fireplace which can be closed off with glass doors for acoustic separation. The great room has a comfortable sectional, soaring doug fir ceilings, a gas wood stove in a large lovely hearth, a built-in for games and toys, glasses for your bar area and a wall of doors to a very large deck with built in benches. A screened in porch is off the kitchen and it connects the large deck to a more intimate one. Allowing a couple to rock and looks at the lake an mountains sipping coffee or wine. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms. One with a daybed, the other with a twin. They are both carpeted and have additional air mattresses for larger families.

There is a full bath for these bedrooms to share, and an additional half bath on the main floor for 2 full, 1 3/4 and 1 1/2 bath in all.

There are plenty of nooks to sit and read including built in benches. Many rooms have vaulted ceilings.

Please note: there is no air condition, the house is built to take advantage of the cool lake air. Also, cellular service is especially bad for AT&T, it is acceptable for Verizon. T-Mobile barely works anywhere in Vermont.

We have two young boys and moved off of the lake to be closer to their school, and allow them more independence. We still love Mariners Cove and imagine we might move back someday when the kids are older, and walking to friends houses and school is less important. We stayed in Shelburne because we can't imagine a better place to work, play and raise our family.

The lakefront and views of the lake allow relaxation and recreation. The house is comfortable and beautiful. We know you will love it.

Swimming, boating, fishing, all the things an almost great lake can offer...while being super close to our idyllic village and a very easy drive to Burlington, Middlebury and ski resorts.

GREAT VACATION

  • 5 of 5
This house worked out wonderfully for us. It has a ton of space, is in a beautiful location and the house itself is nicely designed and decorated. It was a quick drive to both the sites in Shelburne and up into Burlington. All the kids with us loved Shelburne Farm and Shelburne Museum, we needed 2 days to see everything at the museum. The house was a great place to return to to get a break in the day, let the kids nap, and to relax at in the evening. Very peaceful.

The kitchen worked out well to be able to cook anything we wanted and was pretty well stocked with all the basics. Not a ton of silverware and only one knife for chopping but otherwise we could not find anything lacking or needed. Also useful was the wireless internet and phone line since cell-phones did not work here. There was a large tv but we would have loved a dvd player for the kids.

Only tiny issues I can think of, a window was missing on the screen/glassed in porch so expect bugs in the summer unless it gets fixed. Also there is no furniture on the decks so you can't really hang out out there easily. Very small issues compared to how wonderful the place was otherwise, we would love to stay here again next year.

Shelburne is a town of 7,000 with world class attractions, Shelburne Farms, Shelburne Museum, and the Vermont Teddy Bear factory. It is a perfect blend of the picturesque past and creative economic future. Within two miles of this rental are playgrounds, indoor soccer fields, tennis courts, a health club, a vineyard, incredible wood fired pizza, an apple orchard, great hiking, biking, sledding, skating, a local farmers market and coffee roaster. Four great ski resorts (Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen and Smugglers notch ) are within an hour. Bolton Valley is less than 1/2 hour away by car and features night skiing. The others have wonderful spa services, but if you are coming for a family trip Bolton is affordable and has wonderful classes for kids.

This house is less than 15 minutes to Burlington and headed south is the beginning of a wonderful rte 7 antiquing trail. All of this implies that you will leave the house.

With two first floor bedrooms with private baths Mariners Cove welcomes one or two small families with ease. The open plan allows for gathering, while the library and living room with wood burning fireplace offer retreat. For the chefs we boast a blue star range and hood that can handle its power. The lawns, decks and porches allow indoor outdoor flow from almost every room on the main level. The 2 upstairs bedroom share a wonderful balcony (lockable if you have the kiddos up there.) You will have a long dock to jump off during the day,and a fire pit down by the water for s'mores in the evening. Mariners Cove is decorated in a blend of new, vintage and antique, like the town itself.

Shelburne Supermarket has the organic local, and gluten free options you might desire, while still stocking crest and major brands that you may need. Ease of living is paramount in Shelburne. Small and sleepy, but well curated, with local art, jewellery, furniture makers, and chefs coming together to create a lovely village.

The entrance to Shelburne Farms is 1/2 mile from the house, and if you have never visited you are in for a breathtaking surprise. Officially open from May- October the grounds ( and animals) are accessible year round for some of the most incredible architecture, walking, hiking, and awesome views you have ever seen. During the farm season there are wagon rides and tours twice an hour, and the Inn is completely intact from the time of the Webb/Vanderbilts. The families preservation instinct is in full display at Shelburne Museum where you (or your little ones) can ride an antique merry go round, visit the Ticandaroga steam ship, and see a world class art collection all at the same stop. The appeal to kids and adults at once is a rare and relieving vacation event.

The Vineyard and orchard have tastings, and pick your own stone fruit and apples as well as the best cider doughnuts you have ever tasted.

We love living here, and are quite close by if you need any additional advice and guidance. We love food and local beer and can send you to some great spots. We are also happy to leave you alone to enjoy the peace of the waterfront.

We hope you can join us in Shelburne soon.
