Hello! We are the Ehrhardt family (Jeff, Pam & Chase). Our 12 year old son has a love of boats and being on the water. So when this property came available there was no question about buying it. We are on the water all the time. Chase is only 12 but he can drive a boat better than any one we know. He does all of the boat driving in our family. Boating is in his blood. We enjoy all the family time we can in our second home. Our hope is that our home will bring other family's together like it has ours. We take pride in keeping our house as nice as possible and hope our guests will also. After a long day of kayaking or boating we enjoy lighting a fire in the fire pit and just sitting around talking. It doesn't get any better than that. It was a pleasure introducing ourselves to you.
Jeff & Pam Ehrhardt purchased this house in 2010
We love to be on the river.
Water, kayaking, boating, scalloping and wildlife.
We had a wonderful vacation. Our children (10 & 13) loved the kayaking (so did Mike and I), fishing, crabbing and trying to catch the little lizards. I was fascinated by the manatee that we saw every day. My son and I were actual able to touch one. Anyway we would love to come back sometime.
My wife, our 16 yr. old daughter, her best friend, and I arrived Easter Sunday 2015 and stayed for the week. What a great trip and awesome house. The location is perfect (half way between the head springs and the gulf) and the house was super clean and very comfortable with all the amenities you could want or need. Super comfy beds, neat shower, covered parking, and music piped throughout the house. FYI - AT&T cell signal is almost non existent but we had great WIFI and the house phone to give out for those needing to get in touch with us. We brought our own kayaks but it was nice to have the owner's available. The location was perfect for driving our kayaks to the head spring to launch at Paddler's Adventure ($6 to launch each) and dropping off one of us at Rogers Park for the shuttle back ($5.00) to get our truck while the rest of us paddled straight to the house just a couple of turns further down river. Even though we missed Manatee season by a week or two, we still saw and paddled with a handful. We also rented a boat at the nearby marina and went out to the gulf. The neighbors were very nice and recommended two great restaurants that we ate at: Guido's for great pizza and the biggest portion of Lasagna we've ever seen, and The Freezer in Homassasa for awesome steamed shrimp! If you're a golfer - there is a fantastic 36 hole facility about 20 miles north east (easy drive up 19 and cut over) called World Woods. Both courses are ranked in the Top 100 in the country with very reasonable rates and a pleasure to play. Use Golf Now for the best rates. We stayed busy visiting Clearwater Beach, Homassasa, and the Crystal River area aside from lots of time on the most beautiful of rivers - the Weeki Wachee. Just plain fun using the rope swings and tree jumps along the river in a place that looks like you are in another country or tropical paradise. The owners were super fast in responding to questions and made the whole process very simple and trouble free - much appreciated! We hated to leave but sure we'll be back.
We just stayed for a long weekend for our daughter's third birthday... and WOW! This house is beautiful and has lots of nice touches that made our stay incredibly comfortable. The location on the river is excellent, and the use of the kayaks, fishing poles, and charcoal grill saved us some space in our car from bringing ours. All of the beds were very comfortable, including the futons!, so you truly can have 8 guests and all of them be very comfortable. Everything was in order, clean, and ready for us when we arrived, and just as described in the listing/photos.
We caught some crabs in the crab trap, and some small fish (threw back) right off the dock. It was raining the first day, but we still took the kayaks out for a bit and enjoyed the river. We also visited nearby Weeki Wachee Springs park nearby to see the mermaid show. Next time we would rent a boat from the marina nearby to be able to go out to the gulf. And there WILL be a next time!
You will not regret staying at this home!
THANK YOU for sharing your home with us, we will be back!
This was by far one of the most relaxing vacations my family and I have had in a long time. We spent a week in this wonderful home with all the amenities we needed. The sheets on the bed were so soft and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed just sitting on the deck having our morning coffee and watching the manatees swim by. We were visited by a Blue Heron almost everyday and he waited for a fresh fish my father would catch while he fished from the dock. We also kayaked almost everyday and my 4 year old son loved it! The beach was not far and it was also very nice. Some locals we spoke with actually stopped by to give us some fresh fish they caught that day in the Gulf. Made for a great dinner. Yes I also have to mention I had a box shipped with toys, which arrived late, so the property owner was nice enough to meet us at the airport well past 10:00pm to deliver the box to us. That is great costumer service! We are looking forward to returning next year!
We found the description of the property very accurate. It was comforting to see the cleanliness and how well displayed everything was, ie. pictures, statues, etc, which co-ordinated beautifully with the River Theme. Being from Canada, we found it exceptionally convenient to call home as often as we wanted to keep in touch with family members. We found the people on the river are very friendly and polite, telling us how lovely this place is. The only thing that we weren't aware of were the tiny flying insects that were bothersome.
We rented the month of March 2013. Kayaking was the highlight of our vacation here this year. 3 kayaks were available for use, and all the equipment was in excellent condition. Many trips up the river and out to the Gulf. Amazing scenery, schools of fish, and Manatees. The house is very livable and comfortable. Most places you rent do not have great comfortable beds like this river house. Internet, TV, appliances, all performed admirably. The house works well for people with disabilities in and around the inside. Not so well for the different levels of the deck on the river side. All in all a great vacation home.
What an awesome place to relax and unwind! My son (10 yr old) and I really enjoyed all the natural FL attractions that were literally within 5 miles by land or just around the corner by water. We loved the ability to just jump in the kayak and paddle down to Rogers Park or paddle out to the Gulf. Pine Island Beach was great to visit for the day, along with a day trip to Weeki Wachee Spring Park to catch some mermaid action! It was difficult to pack up and leave this little piece of paradise tucked back in Weeki Wachee. We definitely plan on coming back soon. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise!!
