Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed three nights and 4 days at Dragonfly Inn. The apartment was very clean and has everything you need to feel like home, away from your home. Beth also provides all you need to enjoy the beach (towels, cooler, snorkel, etc). I visit Culebra almost annualy since 1986 and had stay at diverse hotels, inns and apartments. Since my last visit, Dragonfly Inn became my first option to stay in Culebra.

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from a five night stay at the Dragonfly Inn and can't wait to return. The rooms are spotless, the atmosphere peaceful with lovely bougainvillea and flamboya trees surrounding the property. If you like a peaceful serene vacation spot then this is a great choice. Beth told us about all of the beaches, best times of days to snorkel and we were never disappointed. Had an amazing experience at the Dragonfly Inn and would highly recommend. The Inn is convenient to town and an awesome ice cream spot called Chico's (next to Mamacita's ) not to be missed! The owner Beth was so helpful as this was our visit to Culebra. The Dragonfly Inn will always be our first choice for accommodations in Culebra.

Best place on the island

  • 5 of 5
Trust me. I reseached every single rental in my price range that was available on the island. And after going there, I can now confirm the Dragonfly Inn is the closest thing to perfection.
The location is very central to everything and about 5 minutes (driving) from Flamenco Beach and 5 minutes from downtown. (We walked to Jerry's to pick up our rental).
The place itself is great. It's bright, sunny, has a fully stocked kitchen and a great selection of books, movies, wi-fi,games and a grill...seriously everything you can think of! There are also beach chairs, umbrella, coolers and snorkel equipment! So much more than a hotel could offer.
Beth is such a gracious, kind host. She met us at the airport and even took the time to take us around the island and even to the store for groceries. She is always available if you have any questions or need anything.
We will be back and will only stay here again!

*A lot of people mentioned the roosters next door. Yes, they are loud but with the windows shut and the aC unit on, we couldn't hear them.

A few quick notes on Culebra:
*The food at the grocery stores are not nearly as expensive as I thought it'd be. Cook at home to save $$$.
*Alcohol is spendy. More so at the restaurants. We brought ours from home in our luggage. You can also take a bottle of wine to most places for a small fee.
*Take the easy hike to Brava beach. It's beautiful and so worth it. We were the only people on the beach the entire day. Fun, big waves to play in.
*Rent a vehicle. Without a doubt. We got an old beater from Jerry that was so much fun. It was cheaper than a golf cart.
*Stay at Beth's Dragonfly Inn.

PERFECT place to

  • 5 of 5
We (4 adults) stayed at the Dragonfly Inn earlier this summer. It was the perfect place from which to explore and enjoy the beautiful island of Culebra. The apartment was very clean and comfortable for 4 adults. The beach supplies Beth provided (cooler, towels, snorkel gear etc.) was also a big bonus for us. The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood and, as Beth describes, is about 1 mile from town, so if you don’t mind a bit of walking it is certainly feasible to walk into town for dinner at night (we did this). Beth wasn’t able to meet us when we arrived on the island but she arranged for her friend Lori to pick us up from the airport. Lori took us on a wonderful tour of town and gave us great tips on restaurants, best place to purchase groceries, gas station, ATM location etc. The orientation was very helpful. All in all, the Dragonfly is exactly as described and made for a WONDERFUL place to stay during our trip to Culebra. We had an amazing trip and cannot wait to return. I would highly recommend this location to others.

Outstanding

  • 5 of 5
This stay was the highlight of our 3 week Carribean honeymoon. The home was clean, safe, and accommodating. We were very impressed by all the "extras" that Beth provided. There were beach chairs, snorkels, games, coolers, etc. All the little stuff you take for granted at home and need but don't pack for an air travel vacation.

We were also blessed to go to Zoni Beach twice and fortunate to help in the hatching of the leatherback turtles through one of Beth's connections. Zoni was so much better than Flamemco, definitely worth the trip. My wife loved that beach it, it was like something out of a movie..

If you are going to PR, then you should definitely go to Culebra. If you go to Culebra, then you should stay at the Dragonfly Inn.

Excellent accommodation.

Clean and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5
My family (5 adults) stayed at Dragonfly Inn earlier this summer and had a wonderful time. The villa is clean and comfortable with all of the necessary kitchen supplies and beach amenities including towels, snorkel gear, cooler etc. The villa is centrally located, but not really within walking distance of town. We rented a jeep, so we didn't try using the publicos. It was easy to get to town and all of the beautiful beaches.
Beth was a delight to work with - she answered many questions in advance of our visit and was available on site during our stay.
You definitely have to be in the island mindset when you visit Culebra, especially during non-peak season. On our first night, we had a hard time finding a restaurant that was open for dinner. Next time we will use the Homeless Dog Cafe for our non-weekend dinners - great food with delivery to the villa, perfect! We can't wait to go back.

We can't say enough wonderful things about Beth or the Dragonfly

We can't say enough wonderful things about Beth or the Dragonfly
  • 5 of 5
First -- If you're going to Culebra, you've made the right decision.

Second -- If you've found Beth and her perfect guest house, kudos on your research! This house is perfect for 4 (2 in a Queen, 2 in the Twins) and there is room for an extra, but even with the Caribbean breeze, the futon can be a bit muggy. If Beth is home, I'm sure she can get you from the ferry or airport (can't recommend the airport enough!!) and give you a much needed and invaluable tour of Culebra. This will pay dividends once you rent your Jeep and realize there are no street names in paradise.

Third -- We loved Flamenco for the kioskos (drinks and food), but preferred Zoni (which Beth so rightly recommended)! Get there early and find a nice shaded home in the trees at the beaches. Listen to Beth's recommendations for restaurants---she is absolutely right!!

Fill your coolers, whether it be the cheap and delight Medalla Light or lots of waters---in fact, bring both! You'll get thirsty!

Beth's snorkel equipment was better than ours!

We can't say enough wonderful things about Beth or the Dragonfly. It's not on the water, but nothing really is... and it's sooo close to town and Carlos' Jeeps and the airport.

Do yourself a favor---go to Culebra, meet the wonderful Dragonfly host, and enjoy some much needed and deserved paradise.
