Huge private room, bathroom and kitchenette with private entrance. Fun and safe Trestle Glen area of Oakland, right on the border of Piedmont, a short walk from tons of restaurants, shops, parks and nightlife.
Six grand palm trees & at least a dozen agaves greet you as you approach this huge art-filled studio with luxury king bed (plus high end air bed if needed), nice desk with keyboard drawer, and gorgeous, new, stone bathroom.
Completely separate door and key, but attached to historic house which has been named by the city a landmark of 'major importance.'
Fun and safe Trestle Glen area of Oakland, right on the border of Piedmont, anywhere from a short walk to a five minute drive to many of the best in the bay area restaurants, shops, farmers market, gyms, tennis courts, basketball courts, dog parks and nightlife.
Tons of parking in front of the house - you will never search for parking. Buses around bay area and to nearby BART pick up on the block. Glad to lend you a basic bike to tour the area, or need it to commute to work. Uber also provides quick door to door service.
This large studio has a minifridge, microwave, toaster oven, grill, and coffee maker. It does not however have laundry or dishwasher. There are numerous laundry services nearby, and pick-up is easily arranged. If you need a multiple burner stove, or a large oven, you will find the appliances inadequate. However, the quality toaster oven and high-end cuisinart grill are more than adequate to make a typical hot breakfast with eggs, pancakes etc, or even cook up chicken, fish or steak.
As can be seen in photos, there are around a dozen steps up to the property. To me and all the guests so far, walking them feels Great. However, a few elderly people have inquired about the space and I've thought it a bad idea. Please consider if steps are a problem for you.
My stay at E.J.'s studio was very enjoyable. Everything was just as described and E.J. was very helpful in any way. I certainly would stay here again on my next trip to Oakland.
We were pleased with our stay at EJ Blumberg’s apartment in Oakland, CA. It was very pleasant with its own entry. The bathroom was extremely nice.
Great big comfy bed beautiful bathroom. Loved it!
Charming high-ceilinged room; clean and comfortable - Fantastic location. Short stroll to coffee shops on Lakeshore; also walking distance to beautiful Piedmont park.
This neighborhood is QUIET. The studio is huge and the bed is the most comfortable I have ever experienced, even at home, and huge. There is no TV in this studio which was peaceful for a change, considering I watch TV 7 days a week. It takes 5 minutes to walk down the street to Starbucks and several other shops and eating places. Peaceful walk. VERY nice homes on both sides of the street. 'EJ', the owner of the home, is kind and responsive to communication. The bathroom was perfect. Shower was huge. No tub. The shower head worked great and was adjustable. There is no AC in this Studio but was not necessary at all. I was worried about this at first, but with the ceiling windows open, it was perfect for sleeping. There is a ceiling fan if you so desire. I didn't need it. If you meditate, there are 2 chairs and a small decorative table outside set in the landscape. Beautiful and peaceful. The exterior is professionally landscaped with flowers and plants that obviously need to be cared for, and are. Cellular connectivity was not a problem at all. I have AT&T. To my knowledge, this large home is partitioned off into at least two dwellings. That said, privacy was not an issue at all. I must say, this is the first review I have ever written for anything or anyone in 20+ years. I don't mind. I appreciated staying here. I was here on business and felt like I was going home each night rather than to a stuffy, sterile, hotel room. Birds chirping in the morning. Squirrels running around. It was cool. One morning, I even walked the 2.5 miles to my meeting location. That is saying a lot, when the peacefulness of where you lay your head for the night can inspire you to get off your rear end and enjoy a walk... and I hate walking. Thanks 'EJ' for the opportunity to relax, even after the 15 hour days I worked while I was here.
