Our spacious 2400 sq. foot home is nestled in a grove of elm, oak and native pecan trees. Relax on our back porch and look out over a small pond with ducks and pastures with cows grazing. Although we're located less than 15 minutes from Baylor, Homestead Heritage, The Dr. Pepper Museum, Waco Mammoth Sight, Cameron Park Zoo, Waco Airport and many other places, our 30 acre farm gives a peaceful, rural atmosphere. Between the porch and the pond we have a small rock lined pit for roasting hot dogs (weather permitting). We also have two rope swings for the kids.
We purchased this home in the Spring of 2006 and moved it onto our property. (We live walking distance from the house) We completely remodeled the entire house over the next 2 years and added extra rooms. We opened up in the Fall of '08. Each bedroom has a queen size bed and we provide soft, all cotton linens. All the bedrooms have lamps on both sides of the bed. The Suite, Room A and Room B have ample floor space if you want extra space for children to sleep.
The bathroom in the Suite has a large, fully tiled shower, a toilet and sink with lots of counter area. Rooms B and C share a bathroom which include a bathtub and tiled shower, a toilet and sink. The bathroom in Room A has a small fully tiled shower a toilet and small sink area. All of the bathrooms are well stocked with thick cotton bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths. We also provide shampoo and soap.
Enjoy the spacious living room area which includes comfortable seating for 6 plus dining area for 10. There's also a small dining table in the Suite which can seat 3 more people. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, various teas, hot chocolate, sugar and creamers. The kitchen is equipped with a full size refrigerator/freezer, a smooth top electric range, double electric ovens, a counter top convection oven, a pop toaster, coffee pot and microwave. We have dishes for twelve + pots and pans and various cooking utensils. The Suite area also has a small kitchenette-sink, coffee pot, microwave, mini refrigerator and pop toaster. We also have a full size washer and dryer with detergent and softener provided + 2 irons and ironing boards. We do have High Speed Internet (WiFi), but we DO NOT HAVE TELEVISIONS.

We moved this home onto our property in the winter of 2006. Over the next two years we completely remodeled the house. In August of 2008 we had our first guests.
Grace Owen purchased this farmhouse in 2006
I brought 9 teenagers and another chaperone for some academic competition in Waco. The property was perfect. It was convenient to the venue and grocery store. The house had more than enough room for all of us. There were ample kitchen supplies although my student chef would have liked a bigger skillet :). Making our own meals and eating together was great. In their down time, the kids really enjoyed playing on the swings and zipline and watching the sheep. I liked that not having a TV made us spend time together. We were close enough to the Waco Convention center to go back and forth with no problem. We made a fire in the fire pit, cooked burgers and hot dogs on the grill, and overall thoroughly enjoyed the stay. For the students, the best part about the trip was the house (and shakes at The Health Camp!). Grace was wonderful and took care of all my questions before and upon arrival. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will be back!
I have 3 children, who live in three different places----so this year we all came to Waco so no one would have to travel so far.
This was the perfect house for all 15 of us. Everyone had a very comfortable bed and the bathrooms were wonderful.
The living/dining area was so large we brought chairs from the bedrooms and were very comfortable.
We grilled on the back deck, the kids and adults really enjoyed the zip line, and the boat in the creek was a picture opportunity bonanza.
The no tv thing was a downer for the guys, football playoffs and all, but they hooked up a tv one brought to a computer and watched the games.
The house was simply spotless and exceeded all of our expectations.
We rent on VRBO often and everyone agreed that this is the best house we have ever rented.
Family Christmas celebration!!!!
Our party was two families with small children, and this home could not have worked better for us. The home is very comfortable and nicely outfitted, and the kitchen and eating areas worked out very well. The highlight of the property for us was the outdoor spaces. We made constant use of the rope swings and all of the room for the kids to run and play. Proximity to Homestead Heritage and Cafe Homestead is a real advantage. That place seems to get better and to have more to offer every time we go, and the cafe is one of my favorite places anywhere to eat breakfast. Last, and importantly, Grace is a fantastic host. She greeted us warmly, took care of us during our stay, and was very responsive. We will definitely be back.
Stayed here for a conference in Waco for the last two years. It is a great home!! Such a blessing to us. We plan to be back again next year!!
The house has plenty of room. We had 3 families stay here this year and 4 last year. The kids love the backyard. Plenty of room for them to run and play. The full kitchen set up was really nice for our group to be able to make our meals. Grace had everything we forgot available in the kitchen too! The house has a great open area in the kitchen, dining and living room. Very clean, quiet, comfortable, roomy, peaceful and has a rural feel although its close to most things in Waco. We highly recommend staying here!
Grace does a great job of taking care of everything! So give her a call today!
We booked this vacation rental for a Baylor Law graduation we were attending and had a wonderful stay. It was the first time traveling with our 8 month old baby girl and the VR was perfect for us. The house has a crib that we used and the floor plan allowed us to lay our daughter down while enjoying time with the family without concern for waking her. This would never have been possible in a hotel. The manager "Grace" was so helpful and easy to work with when making the accommodations. Our stay was so enjoyable and we are already thinking about when we can book our next stay.
We had come to Waco for our niece's wedding and were just looking for a place where we could stay and all of us be together. What a pleasant surprise Brazos Oaks turned out to be, as it far exceeded expectations... clean, spacious, well-equipped, beautifully appointed, and well maintained! And did I mention.. peace and quite! Everyone enjoyed the deck. My granddaughter and I enjoyed watching the ducks, the sheep and their dogs. And she would want to tell the other kids that may stay here to check out the rope swings. Thank you, so much, for the weekend. I won't be our last!
Less than 5 minutes from our vacation home is Homestead Heritage, a local crafts community. In the Craft Village, they have a wonderful Cafe open from 10-6 Monday- Friday and 7-6 on Saturday. Most of the wonderful food is local and organic. Also, they have a Gift Barn with hundreds of beautiful and unique handmade items made by craftsmen in their community. They also have a Potter's House, Wood shop, Blacksmith Forge, Water Wheel Powered Gristmill and Fiber Crafts Cottage where they sell many more items. They also teach all these crafts + cheese making, canning, homesteading and many other classes year around to the public.
