We stayed at Island Beach Retreat in May 2013 & had an absolute blast! The accomodations were comfortable for the 4 adults and 2 children in our family group. We loved how there was something to do for everybody. We flew our kites, took walks down the roads and beaches, fished in the surf(I emailed the picures of my 42" redfish)fished from our kyaks in the canals and built sand castles. Thank You! We plan to return soon!
Upon arrival, we found the house better than described in the listing, and we felt right at home.
The view from the front room was fantastic; the pictures on the site didn’t do it much justice. We especially enjoyed watching the sunrise while sitting on the deck, overlooking the gulf (though the kids were more interested in seeing what the barges were carrying on the ICW across the street).
And the washer, dryer, and freezer in the garage were a plus!
It was an extremely enjoyable stay, and we can’t wait to book our reunion for the fall.
Our stay was quite enjoyable and very relaxing. Easy access to the beach and a panoramic view from inside and outside the beach house. The weather was surprisingly cooperative for our stay and I was able to get some fishing in. Just prepare yourself for the mosquitos if the breeze dies down because they can get pretty aggressive. Even though the beach house is located on an island exclusively accessed by a special tugboat bridge, there is always an operator there to provide access to the island. Also, there is a convenience store that is reasonably close to the beach house for your last minute shopping needs. Our puppies had free run of the beach which they just completely loved! We did as well.
We went for a weekend getaway while we had family from out of state visiting! We loved our time there! No one wanted to leave! The house was well equipped and had everything we needed! The location is absolutely awesome!!!! The kids loved watching the barges in the waterway! Short walk to the beach/ocean!!! Couldn't ask for a better spot!!! Will definitely be back!!!!
My wife and I arrived on a Sunday to start a week long fishing trip. Our oldest son and his family joined us during mid week. We found the house very enjoyable with plenty of room for grandkids to entertain themselves without being under foot at all times.
The garage freezer for bait storage along with a place to keep our filleted fish was great and the fish cleaning area came in handy. We have already made plans to return next year during redfish season and will be counting the months down until we can return.
What a delightful location! Just walking across the mown grass to the beach was a real plus. Traffic was at a minimum and it was a holiday weekend. While the seaweed was ever-present, it didn't dampen our time at the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped and very functional. The heat and humidity were a bit much as the window units struggled to stay up during the day. But evenings were cool and good sleeping! It was restful and enjoyable. Carleen is a joy to work with, flexible and understanding. She has already seen to the minor maintenance that was needed. The house is as advertised-comfortable, well equipped, terrific location. The Labor Day Parade was a real treat!!
Our first visit to the Beach House at Sargent Beach was about two years ago when our daughter and son-in-law booked the house for a weekend. We fell in love with the property and have returned several times since. So far this year we have rented the Beach House on three occasions and are looking to get one more visit in sometime this fall. There are so many reasons we keep going back. One of my favorite reasons is the ocean views, with absolutely spectacular sun rises, and the somewhat isolated location. Yes, there are other houses nearby, but rarely have there ever been others on "our" beach. Walking the beach is one of our favorite activities, collecting sea shells, sea glass, and whatever treasures mother nature chooses to deposit there. Early mornings are also good for spotting dolphins swimming near the shore.
I like to describe the Beach House using the old saying that "you can't judge a book by its cover". The outside of the house is weathered cedar, which looks a little rugged, but is very practical for the harsh elements of the Gulf Coast. Inside is very spacious and comfortable. We have always found the house near and sparkling clean. Kitchen is fully stocked with virtually any cooking utensil you could want. We have stayed there during the hottest days of summer and have always been comfortable inside with the box AC units working fine. In colder months the electric wall heaters keep the house cozy and warm.
Our visits usually include our two grandchildren and our family dog. The feeling of safety permits the kids and dog to experience a sense of freedom and they love exploring the beach area.
Our most recent visit to the Beach House was just a couple weeks ago. Being quite familiar with the house, we immediately noticed several improvements that had been made since our previous visit in July. Things like new kitchen tile, kitchen sink faucets, bathroom shower head, screen doors, patio furniture and painted deck. All very nice additions to the house.
We are very familiar with the VRBO system. There are literally hundreds of rentals up and down the Texas Coast, many of which are extremely elaborate, but that fancy dwelling usually comes with a very healthy price tag. I can spend a week at the Beach House for what a weekend would cost me at the "fancy" places. The Beach House is not the Ritz Carlton, but also its not $500 a night either. For us is a great deal for a comfortable and enjoyable escape to the coast.
