Located less than one mile (approximately eight blocks) from the historic downtown Plaza, this authentic adobe home with two bedrooms and two en suite bathrooms has a very bright, modern interior with skylights in almost every room. The living room boasts diamond plaster adobe walls with a beautifully stained concrete floor, large fireplace and over-sized French doors that open up to private, enclosed backyard. The covered portal in the backyard has a table and two chairs for casual dining, as well as additional seating, and an outdoor BBQ.

The kitchen is full of wonderful details including butcher block counter tops and an original Chandler oven that works beautifully and is fully stocked with all the supplies necessary to cook any extravagant meal as easily as nuke a frozen dinner. The intimate dining area includes an original kiva fireplace and a round dining table that seats six.

Both bedrooms include queen beds and televisions that are mounted on the wall. The master bedroom features a very large walk through closet leading to the master bathroom with a walk-in shower with two shower heads.

This unique property is very warm and comfortable. We look forward to your visit!

About Two Casitas, www.twocasitas.com

I first came to Santa Fe in 1975 and have called it home ever since. I fell in love with how authentic the people were here. After being raised in Chicago I knew I did not want to live my life in the City. I feel so fortunate to have found Santa Fe to make my home. Primarily like so many of us who move here I was drawn to the magnificent landscape and sweeping skies. I have traveled extensively throughout New Mexico and love to share my knowledge with my guests. Of course I know Santa Fe like the back of my hand and delight in giving my guests local tips that make their trip so memorable.

Two Casitas, www.twocasitas.com purchased this house in 1999

Why Two Casitas, www.twocasitas.com chose Santa Fe

Perfect Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

A great rental in a perfect part of town. Hillside had just about everything we could want for a quiet, romantic week. It's secluded, and right in the middle of town at the same time. We'll definitely be going back next time we're in Santa Fe.

I love it any time of the year.

  • 5 of 5

Hillside is a very unique property. I love the quiet neighborhood, at the end of a Historic Eastside street. I love it that I can walk to La Posada or downtown SF in less than 10 minutes. On Sundays, the only sounds I hear are the wind, the birds and the children playing on the street.

At night during summer and fall, a million stars accompany me in the courtyard with the sound of an occasionally coyote or two crossing the arroyo. In the winter, I can see the snow covered hills to the East. The house is always nice and cozy. At Christmas time, the neighbors line up the street with farolitos and I can walk to Canyon Road to hear carolers and stroll with cheer.

It's always nice to come to Hillside, no matter what season it is!

The interior of the house is small but has everything I need to make my stay enjoyable. The appliances and furniture are high end and modern. Love the contrast of the stone with the overall design.

I love Wendy, Germaine and Two Casitas staff, they do such a great job- they know SF so well. The house is always clean and spotless. And they take care of any issues right away.

Thank you Two Casitas!

Owner's Response: One of the best things about Santa Fe is that you can have a home in such a quiet and peaceful location while still being close to town. Hillside, in particular, is tucked away on a quiet dirt road so it is very easy to feel like you've got your own private world! It sounds like you fully took in the sights and sounds of Santa Fe during your stay at Hillside, and you've been lucky enough to experience Santa Fe's beauty during its distinct seasons. Thank you for commenting on our customer service! We do our best to be a professionally run vacation rental management company, and we always are happy when our guests feel they have been treated well.

Hillside stay and privacy

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the privacy of our home, however, it was a bit more challenging to easily walk to downtown than we thought. While the space worked for us, it was a bit tight with no closet/drawer space for a week stay. Also we would have loved to have a small freezer to keep a few things. Loved the courtyard and our dog enjoyed spending time there. The indoor space could have had a bit more natural light, but with the outdoor area being closed in, we could keep the door open and move indoors and outdoors easily.

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear that the walk was harder than expected. Feel free to ask us about specific walking distances/difficulty levels at any time. Hillside's privacy is its best asset, and we are glad you enjoyed that about it! Thank you for staying with us, and we hope to see you in Santa Fe again soon!

Indian Market 2013 Stay

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this home for several days during Indian Market. Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable studio home, with only a few inconveniences. The futon in the living area would not fold up enough to sit in a normal position - felt like being in a lounge chair extended all the way. The pulls on the kitchenette drawers were so narrow, we started pulling them open from the sides. There was a strange smell in the bathroom that could have been sewage gone amiss (I meant to tell someone about it, but forgot). A few other little things could have been improved upon, but mostly we enjoyed the space and were content. The walk to the Plaza was fine, but the walk back was uphill and after a day of being on our feet, a bit daunting. Santa Fe continues to draw us back for long weekend stays. Just wish it wasn't so dusty.

Hillside Casita

  • 3 of 5

Cute casita, at the end of a deeply rutted road up Hillside. Nice furnished kitchen. Updated & decorated bathroom, with the exception of sewer gas odor the whole time we were there. Nice towels & linens. Outdoor patio & privacy gate was very nice. Convertible sofa needs to be replaced, uncomfortable for sitting, can't imagine what it would be like for sleeping. Location was near plaza, but the steep rutted road wasn't conducive to walking, more like a 4-wheel vehicle road. Overall, I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

The Perfect Private Oasis Near Downtown Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

When I was looking for the right place to stage my own private writing retreat, Santa Fe popped quickly to mind. I'd only been once before but remembered the artistic and naturalistic vibe the city held; just what I needed to inspire me to finish my short story collection. And it turns out that the Hillside casita was also just what I needed. It was true to the photos and description, although the area was quiet and made it feel much more isolated than it is. But that's just what I needed to focus and immerse myself in my imagination. I didn't rent a car because I knew I would only be doing the tourist thing for a couple of days, plus I'm a huge fan of walking and, despite how quiet the area feels, downtown Santa Fe is truly less than a mile away. That made it the perfect reward for me after a productive spell or when I craved something outside of the groceries I had on hand. (I highly recommend breakfast or brunch at Cafe Pasqual and lunch or dinner at The Shed.) The casita itself was clean and comfortable and the perfect size for 1-2 people. I loved the atmosphere created by the wood beams and the skylights and the lovely patio, and when I wanted to plug back into the world periodically there was the WiFi and TV. If you need to be in the heart of everything 24/7 this isn't the place for you. But if you want a place to relax and enjoy being away while still having the option to easily be in the middle of it all, you'll love it here.
