Chalet style cottage sits on bluff overlooking the Tunnel of Trees and Lake Michigan.

Note: We bought this cottage in late August 2013 and have made and are continuing to make significant investments in both the interior and exterior which will be completed by April 2014. However, due to that, the pictures currently provided are not reflective of what the place will look like upon your arrival this summer (I will add pictures upon the conclusion of the upgrades and renovations).

New investments that are included in the pictures are a new couch, loveseat, and 35' flat screen television in the living area; new Kenmore microwave/convection oven and upgraded gas range; master bedroom set (bed, dresser, nightstand).

Interior renovations not reflected in the pictures will include ripping out the current red carpet on the 2nd and 3rd levels of the cottage and replacing with Bellawood Red Oak flooring. Replacing the refrigerator with a white Kenmore Elite refrigerator with ice maker. All new 1/2 bath on the 2nd level. New side chairs in the living area. New flat screen television in the 1st level bedroom/living area.

A New interior investment you won't see in the pictures include a new furnace.

Significant exterior landscaping was started last Fall and will be done by early May. Improving the driveway that leads up the bluff to the back of the cottage plus adding an expanded lower parking pad. Upgrading the stairs that lead from the lower parking pad to the cottage. A new wooden fence surrounding the front of the cottage. A new flagstone patio added in front of the cottage. New flagstone walkway from the exterior stairs to the back of the cottage and the second deck. Fire pit in the back of the cottage with four Adirondack chairs.

Main level (2nd Floor) has a full kitchen and dining area, a large living room with a fireplace, a fully-furnished three season room, large deck with views of Lake Michigan, and a half bath.

Top level (3rd Floor) has a Master Bedroom with a king-size bed and its own deck providing views of Lake Michigan. A second bedroom has one twin bed and one twin trundle bed. A full bathroom is on this level.

A carpeted lower level (1st floor) has a bedroom/living area with two twin beds and a daybed.

A separate utility room has a washer and dryer.

Kitchen has a full complement of dishware and cookware along with a standard coffee maker, Keurig coffee maker, and Crock Pot.

Wi-fi internet with unlimited long distance calling is provided by HughesNet along with Direct TV. The family room has a 35 inch flat panel television, DVD player, and Roku. The lower level bedroom living area has its own TV with Direct TV access.

Decks on the 2nd and 3rd floors overlook the Tunnel of Trees and Lake Michigan.

I grew up in the Detroit area but spent a good portion of my childhood summers in Northern Michigan. From that experience I always had a dream of someday owning a cottage in Northern Michigan.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this chalet in 2013

I was introduced to the Tunnel of Trees approximately ten years ago and was instantly taken by its uniqueness and natural beauty.

There are many facets to this property. It has a Chalet style home is surrounded by trees yet has great views overlooking the Tunnel of Trees and Lake Michigan. Behind the property is over an acre of unblemished woods but the property also has private beach access.

The property is conveniently located for a diverse set of day trips. Aside from touring or biking the Tunnel of Trees, it is a short drive to the Sturgeon Bay (with its dunes), a 30 minute trip to Mackinaw City, and 30 minutes or less to Harbor Springs and Petoskey.

Cross Village is a natural destination point for travelers in Emmet County, as it stands at the northern end of M-119, a state designated Scenic Heritage Route, that extends north from Harbor Springs following the Lake Michigan shoreline. This road is renowned for its natural scenery, particularly the bordering hardwood forests. En route to Cross Village, the traveler passes meadows, occasional panoramic views over Lake Michigan, historic cottages, tree stands that bridge the road in canopy fashion, through Good Hart, and antique shops. The road winds and twists to encourage slow speed and enhance the enjoyment of the scenic tour. While Cross Village is a the terminus of M-119, it is not the end of the road, as Shore Drive continues northeast out of the Township into Bliss Township.
