About Mary Gerhart

. We are a couple that enjoy meeting new people and sharing the peace we experience in rural Bucks County, PA.

Why Mary Gerhart chose Haycock Township

We have owned this property for several years and often thought about sharing the rural peace and tranquility it gives to us. There is something about getting out of from the noise and 'rat race' and coming to the woods for a true rejuvenating Get-Away. Come see for yourself. When is the last time you woke up and everything was calm and peaceful around you?

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for a lovely evening! The home is so cozy, warm, welcoming and genuine. The details, displays, arrangements and let us not leave out the delicious food and wine to top it all off, Wow! You truly have the perfect touch!!

I do believe we should schedule a weekend---- Sleeps 15, and I promise we will behave, for the most partJ, what fun!

I am positive all will work out, perfect for families looking for that seclusion and local organizations to have retreat weekends, I’d give it a 5 star for charm alone.

Enjoy the holidays!

Perfect gathering place!!

  • 5 of 5

Our daughter graduated from Delaware Valley College- as we live in Maine and wanted a place to reunite with family and friends to celebrate we searched and found the Chalet to be the perfect place. It's location was idyllic - secluded and private yet close enough to easily travel back and forth to Doylestown train station to greet arriving guests. Those who joined in us were in awe of the beauty of the place and there was ample room to sit by the fire, gather around the table and relax on the porch. The foosball table was a hug hit with everyone- young and old. The kitchen was more than adequate to allow us the ability to serve the masses and the fridge large enough to hold the huge quantities of food we had arrived with. Our three days there were filled with wonderful memories we'll treasure forever and have several members of our family dreaming of a return trip to the Chalet. An added bonus was that the owners who were most accommodating and checked in to make sure we had all we needed. Oh, and yes- the beds were more than comfortable and the sound of the multitude of birds that sang to us as we awoke each morning was the perfect way to start each day !!!!!!

our stay at the chalet

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time, myself and my wife drove from Florida which was humid in the 80s to weather that was cool but beautiful the outdoor fireplace was awsome. Plenty of open area for everyone, some played wiffle ball threw a frisbee or shot our red ryder bb guns at the aluminum cans. It has everything you would find in your own home. We will be back this October. Mary was the best.

Wonderful place!

  • 4 of 5

I rented the house for a 40th birthday party for my husband so that we could accommodate out of state guests and so that I could cook for everyone. There were 12 people for the day and 10 stayed overnight and there was plenty of room to spread out. The great room layout with the dining area worked perfectly and the kitchen had plenty of room for all my prep and was well stocked. Everyone really loved the place. Mary was easy to work with and called to make sure that we had everything we needed. I would recommend the house in a heartbeat!

The perfect rural getaway

  • 4 of 5

The perfect venue for our large family Thanksgiving. The living room is grand and offered plenty of space to celebrate. Unfortunately, an early snowstorm took out the power and internet lines on Thanksgiving day and we had to cook the turkey on an outdoor grill and all of the sides on the Franklin stove in the living room. It all worked out and the power was restored by mid afternoon. The electric stove, which strangely, did not recover when the power came on, was repaired the following day. We never did get the internet back. The hosts were very helpful, the house was well-stocked with lots of games, and we supplied the liquid entertainment and consequently all enjoyed the adventure, loved the location and would be delighted to have another family event there in the future.

The Best. Amazing. rustic, charming and so homey.

  • 5 of 5

I rented the Chalet for a week to celebrate my Mother’s 80 birthday. We had 4 octogenarians, not an easy fit for a house in the woods. The Chalet was perfect. The house is situated on the most amazing site with a small lake/pond, acres of woods to explore, or just simply a lovely yard to enjoy. My greatest concern was the comfort of the twin beds. I was shocked to discover each of the beds had memory foam toppers along with decent sheets and plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The Chalet is decorated and stocked in a manner that is inviting and homey without pressure-- if you accidentally break something (we did, twice), they understand. It is a home meant to be lived in and appreciated.

So many things were provided; dish soap, garbage bags, aluminum foil, Ziploc bags, salt and pepper/spices, games, puzzles…FIREWOOD. Did I mention the foosball table? There is literally something for everyone.

Mary and Eric are wonderful human beings (no, I did not know them before). They are good, kind, thoughtful and fair people. We continuously invited them over just to enjoy their company. Communication with Mary was easy, clear and open. Good, good, people. I will be returning, for sure.

Now, I can’t help but respond to the insane review by the people who occupied the house before us. This is an OLD house, in the WOODs, of course there are beetles in the windowsills and cobwebs. IWas the house filthy? No. Disgusting? No. Rustic? Youbetcha. I never saw one mouse or any semblance of mice. Then again, we kept the door/screen door shut…as you do…in the WOODS. Seriously...the linens were not folded to your liking? I was happy decent sheets and towels were PROVIDED. As for the Christian paraphernalia —apparently you do not travel often otherwise you would know almoAs for the Christian paraphernalia — just about EVERY hotel in America has a bible in the night stand. This is the not YOUR beautiful house-the owners they decorate and display books they see fit. The title of the website is HOMEAWAY, not “non-secular resorts." Quite frankly, it's a little disconcerting one would be so offended by Chicken Soup for the Soul. So, you rented the house for over a month AND extended your stay. If it was so horrible, why didn’t you leave? Sounds like someone ate all the food on their plate and now wants a refund. Bad form...bad bad form.

Dirty, mice and broken shower

  • 1 of 5

The house was cluttered with Christmas decorations (in August) and was unclean (thousands of beatles in the window frames, cob webs, ex..). There were mouse droppings in the drawers with the silverware and in the beds. The vacuum was from the 1950's, so we couldn't even attempt to use it. There was an obvious rodent infestation. The shower upstairs was broken and the linens were tossed in the closet carelessly. There was Christian parafanalia all over the house, which is completely inappropriate when renting out your house through a secular agency. Overall, for the price, not up to standards at all. We should have been refunded a great deal of money given the fact that the house was not in move in condition and that we required having a cleaner, plumber and exterminator come through the house while on our vacation. We rented the home for over a month had to extend our trip for a few days. The owner wanted to charge us a premium rate of $175 a night, even after all we put up with (which we declined). Also, the house is "not nessled alone on 40 acres in the woods," but rather sits right behind the owner's home, which is conversely immaculately maintained. Buyer beware!!!
