Your hosts Tony, Brent, Angie and Troy are very good friends who have traveled the world in search of our piece of paradise. We are thrilled to share our find with you
We have been traveling the world for the last 20 years in search of the top ten beaches in the world. Once we found Orient Beach we have concluded this beach is the best of the best with the white sand turquoise 85 degree water along with temperate weather ranging from 75 to 85 degrees all year round. We are convinced this beach offers everything and more for the beach people of the world.
Staying with us will afford you the ability to receive discounts at several stores in Phillipsburg as well as drink and beach discounts .
These comments are in response to our one and only negative review and we are saddend and disappointed. We (Tony and Brent) have traveled the world for 20 years in search of our little piece of paradise and found this condo on beautiful Orient Beach. This condo is not just a rental property, it is our second home that we proudly choose to share with our guests. Our condo is professionally decorated, maintained, and appointed accordinglly with many amenites that a guest would not find in a jsut a rental property The 3 to 5 star hotel experience these guests were expecting or preferred was never promised and is not the experience of renting a personal condo and is not offered on Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO) site.
We spent hours developing a personal Arrival Letter in order to assist our new and returning guests to enjoy a knowledgeable, affordable and wonderful experience. The letter is forwarded to our guests at booking time, usually many months prior to their arrval, which gives everyone time to ask questions. The letter addresses rental cars, taxi's, grocery shopping, affordable and 5 starr restaurants, condo complex amenities, beach towels, shopping recommendations and affordable ways to reach the shopping areas via the cruise ship taxi drivers located on the beach, a variety of highlights of what the island has to offer in an effort to please every guest's personal taste.
As to the specifics: The custom draperies were installed for decorating purposes only because our goal was to wake up to the sun rise and the sound of the ocean as part of our tropical experience. Like it or not, the hurricane shutters are an insurance requirement. Many people have commented on how wonderful our rain shower is to enjoy but if you stay in the shower too long you will run out of hot water. LOL
This reservation was during the Holiday season, one of the most sought out weeks of the year and was taken over six months prior to this guests arrival. If there was a doubt about the island destination, condo experience or any other reason there was plenty of time to cancel the reservation for a 5 star hotel expereince. It is acknowledged that we were easy to do business with and readily avaiable by email or phone to answer any questions. When the experience was not a 5 star hotel which the guest preferred they chose to leave and demanded return of their rental payment and threatened to write a very negative review if we did not return their money. You be the judge...
My husband and I spent an amazing 10 days at Tony and Brent's condo at the end of February. This condo is just as described, in the perfect location and excellent for two people. We never had any issues with hot water or shutters or the sun. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and a wonderful place to enjoy my coffee and our bloody Mary's every morning. The directions sent to us were very accurate and brought us right to Mt Vernon and the condo. Our days were spent on Orient beach and we drove to Grand Case in the evenings for wonderful dinners. I always felt safe on the property as my husband even dropped me off and went to park the car at night. We did see security people on the grounds and never felt unsafe. We wouldn't hesitate to return to this condo in paradise....
We spent from February 27th to March 10th at Tony & Brent's condo. Communication through out the booking process was excellent. The property is very conveniently located right at the end of Orient Beach. The views of this beach & the bay from the balcony were amazing. We enjoyed breakfast overlooking the beach & bay every morning. You are a couple minutes walk from the beach. You can easily walk to any of the establishments on the beach that rent chairs & serve refreshments. Should you choose, you can even walk to the far end where Club Orient is located.
The property is as described. I found that the property, no matter what time of the day, was also very quiet. I cannot recall being disturbed by noise from any neighbors. I did not find that there was shutter noise as described in one review & I am a light sleeper, nor did I find the sun in the morning to be an issue either. The directions provided in the welcome E-Mail got us directly to the property. I highly recommend renting a car as there is so much else to do when staying here and all is a short drive away. Most evenings we found ourselves eating in Grand Case. There are countless wonderful restaurants here & it is barely a 10 minute ride from the condo. If you want a simple and quick meal as we did upon our arrival day, there is a pizzeria right on the property. The pizza was good & very reasonably priced. Should you want to enjoy the night life in Moho, it is around a 20 to 25 minute ride in the evening. Drive times are greatly effected by the time of the day on this island. During the day give yourself a bit more time. Parking can be a bit cramped at times, but we always managed to find a spot in the large lot below the complex by the tennis court, even when returning at 2:00 or 3:00AM from Moho. Just take a minute to learn your way around the complex when arriving. This will show you the shorter way back from the lower parking area. We always felt safe in the complex as well as most areas of the island. The complex is patrolled by security all the time, and appears to be more so at night, even though I really never seen the need for it. A few nights we returned rather late & I was never concerned walking to the condo.
We spent time looking at other parts of the island, thinking about future trips. I don't really think that you could improve much on the location of this property. I would recommend staying here to family & friends as well as returning myself.
We recently spent our winter holiday during the first 12 days of Feb. at Tony and Brent's Mount Vernon Condo. Everything was perfect. I highly recommend this condo as well as the Mount Vernon property for comfort and safety. The ocean and beach view from the Room and balcony is absolutely spectacular. Its access to the quieter end of Orient Beach is perfect with a 5-10 minute stroll down to the busier section of the beach. This being my first visit to St Martin, I was very pleased with my choice after talking to many of the other vacationers on the beach, who told me that over the years they had stayed in different places around St Martin/Maarten and that they prefer Orient Beach as well as the Mount Vernon property. The condo had everything that we needed for our stay. The air conditioner, hot water heater and all other appliances worked perfectly. The parking lot is about a 5 minute walk from the condo and we had no problems, but people with mobility issues might find it hard, especially with groceries. Getting around in St Martin is pretty easy by car and there are two very good grocery stores within a 5 minute drive. For the first half of my stay I constantly explored the island by car, (which is what I typically do on a trip). But for the latter half of our stay, We were more than happy to just stay on the beach and rent some lounge chairs and an umbrella each day. Even after 12 days I still didn't want to leave. I will definitely be back.
This was our sixth vacation on the island but our first time staying on the French side. On all previous trips we stayed in a time-share near Cupecoy.
The booking process was easy. The owners, Tony and Brent, were very responsive throughout, including providing us with directions, information and even recommendations for dining and things to do on the island.
We had a little trouble finding the property. Laurence, the owner's representative on the island, was very nice and met us at a nearby pharmacy and led us to the property and gave us a quick tour of the unit and explained how things in it worked.
The unit was exactly as it appears in the pictures - clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. All of the appliances, both large and small, worked and the unit is fully stocked with dishes, glasses, cookware and utensils. We've stayed in timeshares with refrigerators that froze everything, stoves that didn't work and had a a dozen spoons and no knives, so this was a very nice experience. It was also wonderful to have a washing machine in the unit and there is a drying rack provided.
There had been a storm in October that impacted the cable and phone lines for large areas of the island. As a result, the TV reception was limited to a couple channels with very grainy pictures but clear audio. We had WiFi the first day but not afterwards. The owners were very responsive to our inquiries and tried to do what they could but we understood that these things were beyond their control. We made good use of the library of DVDs they have but also brought some of our own. We were able to access WiFi in some restaurants to check emails.
The view from the balcony is gorgeous and because the condo faces east we were treated to a spectacular sunrise every morning.
We had no problems with hot water per a previous reviewer's complaint.
Tips - Rent a car. The complex is a distance from the nearest grocery store and quite a walk down the beach to the nearest restaurants. The complex is also quite hilly with a lot of stairs so pack lightly.
On a personal note to animal lovers - the island, like much of the Caribbean, has a problem with homeless dogs and cats. We make a point to buy food to give them. It doesn't solve the problem but hope that it gives them some relief.
We just spent a beautiful week on Orient Bay at Tony and Brent's Mount Vernon condo. It was the perfect getaway, exactly as described in the listing. The view, the proximity to the beach, the quality of the beach itself, the friendliness of the owners, the property manager, and the locals make this condo rental an incredible value. We will be back!
I stayed at this place several months ago, over Labor Day. Someone asked me for a recommendation today, and I told them about this; when I followed the link from my emails I saw the previous review and thought I would respond, since I disagree so much with it.
We purposely decided we wanted to stay at Mt. Vernon to try it out, and after browsing through the listings, settled on this one--it seemed pretty, nice view, and nice location in the complex. All of that turned out to be true.
We arrived mid-day on a ferry from Anguilla, so didn't have a set arrival time. We were able to call the property manager, who met us within 10 minutes and gave us a tour of the property and the condo. She showed us how everything works in the apartment and went on her way. The apartment is nicely decorated, comfortable and easy to adjust to. The balcony is lovely, with an incredible view of the length of Orient Bay.
Prior to arrival (upon our reservation), we received a detailed document with instructions for arrival/departure and other practical information. We already knew from our own research that a car would be quite desirable at Mt. Vernon, and that Mt. Vernon is at the end of Orient Beach (the opposite end of the "crescent" of the bay from Club Orient).
We were thrilled with the apartment; we spent each day on the beach at various places on Orient Beach, with one day at Pinel Island. Each night we went out to dinner either in Grand Case or Orient Village--both a five minute drive away. We picked up groceries we needed from the nice French grocery store that is a two-three minute drive away, right at the roundabout between Grand Case and Orient Bay.
We slept well on a comfortable bed; if one got up early they could either go to the balcony or hang out in the comfy living area. We will definitely stay again, and highly recommend the apartment.
