About Laurie Punches

My name is Laurie.

I am an author, artist, musician and mom.

The log cabin is my get-away where I write my books and movies. Its my refuge, my home away from home and my heart.

As a child, I saved a scrapbook of pictures of my dream home...

and the first moment I saw our cabin, I knew this was IT!

The smell of pines and being a minute stroll to the beach is my favorite part of being in Tahoe.

My desire is to share a yesteryear, nostalgic, homestead restored with all the fascinations of modern comfort without compromising its ambiance has come true. The hand-made, authentic, cozy log cabin duplex, boasts of spaciousness, yet intimate for two which meets my needs for alone time to create and family time to build memories. I have been coming to this log cabin for over 20 years and it still holds me captive with it's beauty.

Dreamt and believed all my life that someday I would live in a log cabin up in the mountains on a lake. Dream came realized more than vividly true, I feel BLISSFUL! :)))

Laurie Punches purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Laurie Punches chose Al Tahoe

It is everything I dreamt of.

An authentic, home-made mountain cabin in the pines...

a few steps from the sandy beach,

yet near enough to the city and all its activities, that I can be away from the noise and hustle and bustle, but skiing, shopping, gambling within 5 minutes.

Hand-made of the most beautiful trees from Canada.

Original owner owned the original Tahoe wood mill, and hand made all the paneling, roof, doors and details. It took 5 years to build, while a whole subdivision in the neighborhood was built. The quality and uniqueness of everything about this cabin is beyond my wildest imagination. I feel swept up in a fairytale everytime I stay, and am sad to leave... and can't wait to get back!

What makes this cabin unique

seriously? EVERYTHING!!!!

The full cabin experience. The rock floors, shag carpets, granite counters, rock hewn sinks, lodge pole banisters, huge log beams and vaulted ceilings make the cabin ageless, yet pampering.

Charming, Homey, Cozy and Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

You know, we could have paid to stay at an upscale hotel. But, this cabin tops the best of the best in terms of affordability, space for a family of 4, and amenities. Totally comfortable and more than well appointed. We came with our two grown daughters, one who lives in Maryland. She flies out to California once a year so we go on a yearly family trip. Could not have chosen a better area and place to stay. Thank you for helping to create memories that will last a lifetime!

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is so beautiful! Rustic with its huge timbers inside, but luxuriously appointed with beautiful leather furniture and modern fixtures and finishes. My kind of place! I had the privilege to meet the owner, Laurie, while I was there and I loved the cabin even more after I met her because she is so kind! The lake is a short walk from the front door, very close to restaurants, Heavenly and casinos. There is plenty of room and everything you might need for your stay. I plan to stay here every time I'm in Tahoe :)

A home that warms the heart.

  • 5 of 5

If I were you - I wouldn't look at any other homes if you are looking for a calm, rustic, warm ambience as your Lake Tahoe getaway home. This cabin has all the necessities you need! From kitchen utensils to having a washing machine! Aside from the warm cozy beds and feasible kitchen, I absolutely LOVED the christmas lights that hugged the stair rails and ceiling. I'd say this is a perfect home for a romantic getaway or a calm family vacation. You do have neighbors so being a part animal isn't quite a wise decision; besides, the relaxing ambience is so strong, you forget what partying even is! It's a home that definitely warmed my heart and I assure you, that it will warm yours too.

Cozy Cabin

Had a great time at rhe cabin. Can't wait to come back. So sad Tahoe is in need of some major snow though.

Just 2 blocks from this beach in the picture. Can't wait to come in the summer time!

Wonderful Time

  • 5 of 5

I was so excited when we arrived at the cabin. It was just like the pictures shown on line. It was just so cozy and actually quite large. The kitchen was fully equipped, the cabin was clean, there were plenty of extra towels and linens, even some beach chairs to take down to the lake. Excellent location, walking distant to the lake and rental station for kayaks etc. I loved the candles and special lighting in the cabin as well. Would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a warm, cozy fun place to stay while in Lake Tahoe. You are only a mile or so from the casinos and Safeway. The cabin was clean and the owner left no detail untouched. You will have a wonderful time. My next trip to Lake Tahoe will include a stay at this fantastic cablin.
