About Joan

Nothing is more important than making my quests happy!

Joan purchased this house in 2003

Why Joan chose Saratoga Springs

Beautiful interior setting with turn-of-the-century original furniture and art works from the Rydburg family who built and lived in the carriage house for generations. Full of old world charms.

What makes this house unique

This house sits on a quiet street yet only minutes away from the race track, bustling downtown, and many attractions. Location, location, location!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I and my family stayed in this cute carriage house for a get-a-way holiday. The location is great, short walk to the track, a few minutes drive to SPAC, walks to downtown and other attractions. The house is kept to it's original charm, with antique furniture. There are cable TV and wireless, beds are new and comfortable, kitchen is dated but it has everything we needed to cook meals. The house is very clean and the summer breeze goes through the house. The best of all is the location and we really liked the owner who is friendly and accomodating. Will come back to stay!

House extremely OLD AND MUSTY

  • 1 of 5
This house is a disgrace. It looks good in these pictures but the house is extremely OLD and MUSTY and you cannot get the smell out. The beds are old and rickity - house not very clean. I would not recommend this house to my worst enemy. The owners were not even workable when we showed them the problems. DO NOT RENT. Furniture is broken and very old. They own two more houses that are in the same shape. They are just there for the money. This is the first house I am putting a review in as I don't want anyone else to get stuck with this place. We stayed for 5 days and left extra early just to get out of that house. If I could put a (-Star up above, I would.

Owner's Response: I felt sick to my stomach to read this unresponsible and untruthful review. This house was built in 1970's by the city mason the Rydburg family with great quality, it is not older than any of the charming and beautiful older houses in Saratoga city area. It has many windows for breeze and ventilation, and no guests ever complained about a smell or being musty. The matresses are two years new (please see other guest's comments) and the beds are made of solid antique wood. All the furniture in the house are antiques handed down to us by the Rydburg family, beautiful and solid, not broken! (with one exception of the kitchen table that has a few chips (I kept it to preserve the original charm). I never own two more houses (I wish I do!). I have been very friendly and accommodating to all my guests (see other reviews and comments).

Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5
I stayed at this lovely property this past weekend when I was in town for a wedding.

I had a really difficult time finding a place in Saratoga Springs for one weekend in the off season at an affordable rate. Most owners were unwilling to rent for only two nights and if they did want to work with us, they would ask for +$100 for a cleaning fee. When I contacted Joan, she was more than willing to work with me. The property was very affordable and she was responsive to my inquiries. We set up the whole stay via email which was very convenient.

The home itself is a two bedroom carriage house with a large living room and kitchen. There is enough space to parking for two cars comfortably, four if you are double parking. The house is also in a great spot - a 15 minute walk to the Downtown area or a really quick drive. We ended up making multiple trips to Price Chopper during our stay which was also located nearby and there is a little deli right down the street for emergencies. The kitchen is a little dated but we made it work - it has everything you would likely need but there were no stainless steel appliances which was fine by me. One thing I did fail to notice looking at the picture is that the two bedrooms are connected by a door, but because of the layout of the home, you can close off that specific door and it would be no problem. The property also has a HUGE yard, which would be great if you had kids who wanted to play outside. The pictures are very accurate.

When we arrived we were surprised by the dramatic drop in temperature between Saratoga and NJ, but we could not figure out how to turn on the heat. When we contacted Joan, she assisted us immediately, telling us where we could find space heaters, and then called to follow up later that day to make sure everything was okay.

I'd highly recommend staying here and if I come to Saratoga again, I will definitely be reaching out to Joan.
