PEACEFUL SPLIT-LOG CABIN TWO SHORT BLOCKS TO LAKE MICHIGAN.

We decided on short notice to travel for Labor Day weekend and how lucky we were that this cabin had a cancellation! We couldn't have asked for nicer accomodations, so close to the beach just two blocks away, but with the beauty and peacefulness of a wooded lake home. The owner has created a very relaxing home with all the modern amenities, yet the charm of another time. The cabin very clean and tidy and cute as a button - the beds all comfy - we all agreed none of us have slept better in quite awhile.
Beautiful patio and grill out back allowed us to barbeque at home after hitting the farmer's market,
but there are also a couple of good restaurants nearby if that's what you would like.
Took my bike and what a great are for biking, particularly if you want to do some long distance riding.
The neighborhood is very dog friendly and Reb let us bring ours, since he is so well-behaved.......like us, he had a great time exploring the area.

The trip made me want a cabin of my own, but if it takes me a while to find one, I will likely rent again next year.

The best part of this cozy yet fully functional home- other than its location-- just 200 yards from the beach-- is its owner/operator. As reliable, responsible, pleasant, accessible and exceedingly helpful as a renter could hope for. The place is perfect for kids- who being imperfect makes messes-- which the cabin makes easy to clean. It is a 90 second bike ride from beach -- in all directions. The entire area, heavily wooded, quiet, serene only appears isolated. In fact is is incredibly accessible to to places as different as Chicago and the Amish country of Northern Indiana. While we sadly can't speak from experience yet, our hunch is that this place would be ideal for a quiet KID FREE weekend escape in the autumn or spring seasons- and who knows-- maybe a cozy winter break in front of a huge and well equipped fireplace. Not sure that beach directions would be all the helpful in winter.

Another ideal use would be as home base for some fantastic bicycle excursions around Lake Michigan.

Don't let price necessarily dissuade you. While it certainly isn't cheap, the lovely porch, great shaded and bug free yard, together with the house's secret highlight-- its grill-- almost commands eating at home- so the $1k one would otherwise spend at restaurants-- can be saved.

Our stay at the cowboy cabin was wonderful! The owner has made it comfortable and cozy, stocking it with everything you need. We loved the screened in porch and the back yard and the front porch too...it's serene and peaceful. We also loved the owner's lamp collection! The AC worked great which was good because it was hot outside! The water pressure is great, there's a washer and dryer, a grill - everything you need! We would have our coffee outside on the porch and watch the deer! Loved going for walks along Lake Shore Drive or along the beach. Everyone in the neighborhood is friendly. The kids loved bike riding in the area and it's an easy walk to the beach! We can't wait to return!
