LUXURY MOUNTAIN CABIN WITH FABULOUS VIEWS

Maggie Valley Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Private 1.5 Acre Mountain Estate Overlooking Maggie Valley

The Alpine House is a log cabin perched on the side of Setzer mountain almost to the top and just across the road from the Cataloochee Ski Resort! The views are breathtaking and the cabin is a quintessential mountain cabin--log walls, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors on the upper level, and a huge balcony overlooking the valley. The upper floor has a large great room with wood stove, dining area and kitchen all open and vaulted. There is a large master suite with access to the balcony and a bath with tile shower. This was our personal home for the first year we lived in Maggie Valley and we just love it! We recently completed a large deck on the forest side of our home which is like a tree house with hot tub, the same great view as the house, plus a table and chairs for outdoor dining. There is a fire pit for a nice outdoor fire while you relax in the hot tub! Or just sit out and soak in the warm southern sun from an uncovered part of the deck. Take a hike through the woods if you're in the mood, or enjoy the gameroom on the lower level with pool table, stereo, piano, tv, and other games. There is a small flat screen tv downstairs and a larger one upstairs--both are hooked to satellite tv for your enjoyment. Also downstairs is another sleeping area with queen bed plus full bath. There is a utility room with washer/dryer and a daybed which could possible accommodate one or two additional children, but we think that would be a bit too crowded! There is a one car garage as well, with a ping pong table. High speed internet via dsl is available, plus cell coverage is good. There are no visible neighbors and you will feel like king/queen of the mountain. The road to our house is gravel, somewhat steep, but wide and generally in good condition. Access in winter may require 4WD and/or chains during heavy snow or ice. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY AND UNSUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN DUE TO IT'S 4000 FT. MOUNTAINSIDE LOCATION. IT IS AN IDEAL ROMANTIC MOUNTAIN RETREAT FOR A COUPLE, ALTHOUGH THE QUEEN BED IN THE GAMEROOM WILL ACCOMMODATE 2 ADDITIONAL PEOPLE, AS WILL THE DAY BED (2 SINGLES) IN THE UTILITY ROOM.

. Also note that if this cabin is booked we have another great property at Lake Junaluska (3562775) only a few miles away which has easier access and is a bit larger.

Carroll and Jim have worked in healthcare as RNs for many years. Carroll is a master gardner and takes care of the house decor as well as the flowers in the yard. Jim has a nutritional consulting business and is presently writing his first novel. We are originally from Louisiana and Texas respectively and met on the west coast in Washington state. We enjoy traveling, photography, and outdoor activities, which is what attracted us to Western North Carolina. We love the 4 seasons here and enjoy the coolness of the summers! Our two rental properties take up a good bit of our time (see our Lake Junaluska property #3562775) as we personally care for each one. All our guests are special to us and we hope to make each person's time here very special and as enjoyable as it possibly can be.

Jim and Carroll Grant purchased this cabin in 2012

We wanted a home at a high enough elevation so that we could enjoy fresh air in the summer without air conditioning. Having been raised in the southwest, we fled from the heat, and now enjoy the pristine mountain air, water, and natural beauty! WNC is perfect for our likes--lots of outdoor activities, no big city congestion, yet all we need within a 35 mile radius. Asheville is great for bigger city sort of things--airport, major shopping, Whole Foods Market, etc., but we find Waynesville to be a great little mountain town that gives us a feeling of community and belonging. There is very little that we need that isn't available to us there.

The Alpine House renews your spirit--you feel like you're looking down on the world from your mountain perch! The woods around the home are home to all sorts of wildlife (you might even see an occasional black bear!) and provide a peaceful setting to complement the great views. We like privacy, and this cabin certainly offers that--you will feel like you are the only person on the mountain once you arrive here. We have added as many conveniences as we can to make your stay enjoyable--from the hot tub overlooking the valley, to the high speed internet just to remind you that there is another world out there somewhere! You can watch your favorite TV shows, sporting events, and even play a game of billiards or ping pong if you like. Nature is ever present here and you may choose from a variety of outdoor activities to suit your mood and interests. If you're into gambling or big city events they are a short drive in either direction (east or west) from our home. There is just something about a log cabin in the mountains that will speak to your spirit and invite you to return again and again whenever you need a break from the everyday stresses of your regular existence. We know you will leave here refreshed and glad you visited Das Alpine Haus!

Perfect Cabin Getaway, Photos Don't Do it Justice!

Perfect Cabin Getaway, Photos Don't Do it Justice!
  • 5 of 5
The cabin was beautiful, updated, and extremely clean. The decor is charming and cozy, surroundings are quiet and peaceful. Some of the extras included a pool table, chess board, jacuzzi, propane grill, keyboard, rocking chairs, fire pit - all fantastic and with an incredible view. The photos don't do this place justice, it's stunning.

The cabin is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smoky Mountains National Park, easy access to Waynesville and Asheville as well. The jacuzzi was the perfect, quiet place to relax after a long day of hiking.

The owners were very generous and knowledgeable, provided everything we needed, lots of great recommendations, and were even available when we had questions during our stay.

We don't usually visit places more than once, but we'd definitely stay here again. If you're looking for a secluded cabin with a great view and all of the amenities you could want, this is it.

Thanks Jim and Carol!

Wonderful Stay at Mountainside Cabin

  • 5 of 5
After you stop gazing at the gorgeous view, this cabin high up in the Smokey Mountains has so much you won't want to leave, There is a hot tub, pool table, ping pong, well equipped kitchen and roomy deck over looking the valley, We woke to cool clean mountain air and it stayed comfortable into the night. Access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby but if you do decide to head down to civilization, Asheviille is less than an hour away. Our host could not have been more helpful or accomodating.

Alpine House is AWESOME!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent a week at Alpine House. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute in this beautiful home. The views are beyond description and every amenity is available for relaxation and comfort. Jim was very helpful in giving advice on local destinations. We hated to leave, but took away great memories of a relaxing and memorable vacation. Thank you, Jim and Carroll, for sharing your beautiful home with us!

The best getaway in Maggie Valley

  • 5 of 5
The house was gorgeous and had every detail taken care of that you could imagine. My husband and I rented this house for our anniversary and Jim and Carol made sure we had the best visit; they told us the best grocery store to visit, fine places to eat (Sweet Onion) in Waynesville and shopping. Had Starbucks for us, robes, hot tub set, firewood for the fire pit. The house is beautiful and so quiet and tranquil, views were unbelievable. We had the best time and the location was quiet convenient, pool table was nice for us to use. I just don't have one negative thing to say about this property (which is unusual for me) Carol and Jim make you feel very welcome and love all the touches. Flowers and a happy anniversary note was just the right touch. We will be back

Maggie Valley Cabin

  • 5 of 5
This mountain cabin in Maggie Valley, NC had an amazing view, was peaceful and quiet, and did not disappoint. My husband and I wanted a nice, romantic mountain cabin for our fifteenth wedding anniversary and chose this one. We had a wonderful time. The owners are hospitable, kind, helpful, and recommended some local eats and activities. The cabin was clean and taken care of (it was beautiful). You will not be disappointed renting this cabin. We didn't want to leave. Plus, a hot tub: where we stayed for part of our retreat. :) I highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

Paradise in the Mountains!

  • 5 of 5
Stop looking, you have found it! This is the best mountain cabin that we have ever stayed in. The views are spectacular, and I guarantee like nothing you have ever seen before. Cloudy days were even fun - being above the clouds or the surreal feeling of being inside a cloud. We loved the decor throughout. The pictures do not do the cabin or the views justice. Everything is so much better! We rarely left, because there was no reason to. Jim and Carroll provide everything you need for a great, relaxing getaway. The secluded hot tub in a spa themed area was the ultimate luxury. It was great to relax in while watching the sunrise in the mornings or at night looking down in the valley of lights far below. There is a wood stove in the living room that we really enjoyed. The Grants had it all ready, so all we had to do was light it, and extra firewood was supplied. You never have to worry about getting bored because there is so much to do right there at the cabin: playing pool or ping pong, numerous board games, chess, Dvd's, cards, rocking on the front porch looking at Maggie Valley below, enjoying the outdoor fire pit or hot tub, wildlife watching, relaxing with a good book or puzzle, or taking off in any direction for a hike. Even though there are a few homes in this gated community, you have complete privacy without that isolated uneasy feeling some cabins have. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, some spices, and even several condiments. It even had a gas stove to cook on. We prepared most meals there, as we couldn't stand the thoughts of leaving. The cabin is a perfect romantic getaway for two or would be ideal for 2 couples with plenty of privacy for everyone. Having stayed in the Grant's other fantastic property, Maison Du Lac, our expectations were high. The alpine cabin was everything we hoped it would be and more!
