BEACON HILL -- 2 BEDROOM HOUSE ('THE FEDERAL ROSE')

Boston House Rental Photos and Description

House: 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2+1

We've been renting high-quality furnished accommodations for over 6 years, exclusively in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. 'The Federal Rose' location is stellar, just 3 minutes walking distance to Boston Common, the Freedom Trail, an organic grocery store, a wine shop and many more conveniences and Boston attractions. Please note that our pricing is NET and includes all taxes, cleaning charges and payment fees.

Welcome to an antique house from 1815 in the heart of Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood. This small house has a very comfortable charm while incorporating modern conveniences. Previous owners from the very earliest years opened their home to boarders and we continue the tradition to allow guests the fun of staying in such an historic location.

** The photos for this listing are a bit dated and considerable improvements have been done. **

Location:

Just 2 minute walk to the Massachusetts State House, Freedom Trail, Boston Common and an urban Whole Foods grocer; an 8 minute walk to three subway 'T' lines and Charles Street's boutique shops and fine dining. 15 minute walk you will reach Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street, the North End, Theatre District and TD Garden for events.

Basics:

This is a private house with exclusive use. The 1st floor includes the kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen is very well-appointed with all high-end gas stove/oven, refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher. The dining room seats 6 and the living room is comfortable and includes the television.

The 2nd floor has the two bedrooms with eco-friendly linens, a very comfortable high-end mattress and organic down pillows. Very ample closet and storage space. The bathroom is all brand new with a tub/shower. The first bedroom is a proper bedroom with queen bed. The second bedroom will have a high-quality twin mattress on the floor.

There is a large brand new roof deck on the top floor with very plush outdoor sofas.

Electronics:

HDTV (w/ standard HD cable (CNN, CNBC, etc), DVD/CD player (w/ DVDs), wireless internet, central air-conditioning, telephone with free local and U.S. long-distance

Eco-Green:

Bed linens are eco-certified and cleaning agents, paper supplies and soaps/shampoos are earth-friendly whenever possible. We recycle. Cloth shopping totes are hanging in the closet and the electricity is purchased from wind farms. Gas heating with zones and wireless monitors to minimize energy waste.

Essentials:

No parking (ask), sleeps 2+1. Very easy access from the street. Includes all utilities and furnishings. The owner has written a very detailed manual for the home and for all services and restaurants in the neighborhood.

Note: Beacon Hill is on a hill in the historic urban center, so there is a fair amount of walking. This is an old house and all the stairs are original -- steep and narrow, so just be careful. It is also a vertical property, so between the basement (washer/dryer) and the roof deck there are 5 floors in total and the stair-climbing may not be suitable for all guests.

Suitability:
  • non smoking only

Guestbook comments from the owner
My wife and I have rented a number of places over the past 8 years but none beat this property for location, cleanliness, comfort, good organization and visual appeal. Paul is an easy person to work with and makes sure all the bases are covered. We will be back!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and two daughters enjoyed our 6 night stay at this wonderful Beacon Hill property. It is very historic and unique, but also updated with modern amenities including a beautiful and spacious kitchen and dining area. The owner Paul is very easy to work with and everything was in excellent order and clean. We would definitely return for another visit.

Great Location, Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5
My wife, two friends and I recently stayed at the Federal Rose when we were in town for the Boston Marathon. The house was beautiful and worked out great for 4 adults. It was full character and charm. The house was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was so nice, we wished we could have had it in our own home. The space and amenities were so much more than we could have had at any hotel.

The location was perfect. We were able to walk to virtually everything including the Back Bay, Boston Common, the Boston Public Gardens, the North End, Whole Foods, delicious restaurants and everything else Beacon Hill has to offer.

Paul was fantastic to work with. He was responsive, polite and thorough. When we arrived he had an extensive list of restaurant recommendations and things to do while in Boston. I can't say enough about how pleasant Paul was to work with.

We will definitely stay at the Federal Rose next time we are in Boston and would recommend the property to anyone we know that will be visiting Boston.

A hidden gem in the heart of Beacon Hill

  • 5 of 5
Our family of four enjoyed our week-long stay in The Federal Rose. The house is situated in a unique location in the heart of Beacon Hill, literally across an alley from the Museum of African American History and it is an easy walk to Boston Common, the train to Cambridge, and the Boston Aquarium. Whole Foods is literally a three minute walk down the hill.

This old house is clearly a labour of love for the owners. They share their collection of cookbooks, small space design books and travel guides with guests. It certainly was a lovely fit for us. Having access to laundry was very helpful with two small girls.

The gourmet kitchen, dining room, living room, and fabulous roof deck are the highlights of this home. The second floor bedroom we stayed in was comfortable, and there was plenty of room in the second bedroom for our daughters' cribs. (I understand the owner is in the process of renovating this room to accommodate more guests.) The central air conditioning was wonderful in the midst of the Boston heat wave in early August. Our only caveat for those who have high expectations, (and this was minor), was the cold water pressure in the second floor bathroom, but given the age of the house and the quality of the owner's renovations I am sure this issue will be addressed in time.

If you are looking for a character property to rent for unique Boston vacation experience, I highly recommend working with Paul. He offers helpful instructions and recommendations, and he was prompt to respond to questions and to process payments. I will refer friends and family traveling to Boston to Paul in the future.

The BEST Boston Digs!!!

  • 5 of 5
I stayed at this property for six weeks while I revised my novel. I needed a clean, quiet, centrally located place and this place not only met my expectations but exceeded them tremendously. The kitchen is all tricked out; I'm a gourmet cook and I was very happy with the remodeled kitchen, the quality appliances, and the range of cooking pans, tools and utensils. The living area, dining table, bedroom and bathroom were all charming and comfortable and eclectically appointed. Laundry in the basement was key. The neighborhood CANNOT be beat. This place is on a quiet court off a main street in Beacon Hill, which is walking distance from Boston Common and downtown. Beacon Hill is the most darling neighborhood in the city. Charles Street is a short walk away, and it has the best shoppping and dining and wine stores and gourmet groceries and chocolatiers. There is a great gym and a Whole Foods half a block away. If you are looking for a true Boston experience, look no further.
