Please note that there is a four day minimum stay and we generally prefer longer stays.

GENERAL

- large (~1,100sqft / 110sqm) 2 bedroom garden apartment in a luxury historic rehabbed Back Bay building

- luxury finishings including hardwood throughout, a granite/stainless kitchen and a granite/marble bathroom.

- garden level unit (partially below street level - see pictures)

- professionally cleaned between guests

- sorry, parking is not included

BATHROOM / BATH LINENS

- combo bath/shower with a high pressure rainfall shower head

- linen closet has at least 4 towels, 4 hand towels, 4 facecloths

- quality hairdryer

- shower has fancy shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion

- sink has liquid hand soap

- ample supply of toilet paper

- I try to provide some emergency supplies such as a travel toothbrush or razor in case you forget yours, though please don’t depend on this

BEDROOM / BED LINENS

- Main bedroom has a queen bed with a base, boxspring and high-end dual-pillow top mattress. There is also an optional queen size memory foam topper for those looking for extra plush.

- 2nd bedroom has a full/double size quality raised memory foam mattress.

- There is also the option of double-thick full size blow-up air mattress for additional paid guests

- 2 sets of queen sheets and 2 sets of full sheets

LAUNDRY

- front loading extra large washing machine

- front loading extra large dryer

- fold-down ironing board and an iron.

- high efficiency (HE) laundry detergent is provided

KITCHEN

- Major appliances (all stainless steel): Stove/Oven combo, Microwave, Dishwasher, Fridge/Freeze/Ice Maker Combo

- Minor appliances and tools: 2-slice toaster, tea kettle, basic 12-cup coffee maker

- Prep knives, cooking utensils, pots, pans and food storage

- Enough large plates, small knives, bowls, water glasses, mugs, forks knives and spoons for at least 4 people though there are up to 8 of many of the items.

- Ample supply of paper towels

- Ample supply of various bagged teas and sweeteners

- Wide variety of dried spices for cooking

- Variety of “shared” condiments in the fridge, though they change regularly.

- dishwasher detergent, dish soap and hand soap are provided

Please be gentle with the appliances, they are mostly new.

NEIGHBORHOOD

The Back Bay is one of the two best known 'high-end' neighborhoods in Boston. Just writing that sounds pretentious, but it is otherwise hard to get across a feel for it. The place is a few blocks from Newbury St which is known for its boutiques and its cross street is Marlborough which has really pretty gas lamps and brownstones buildings for its length.

It's about a 5 minutes walk to the Hynes Convention Center T stop on the green line, a 2 minute walk to the #1 Bus line and a 5 minute walk to Kenmore Station with more buses. Though it is a reasonable walk to much you may want to do in Boston.

The condo is very clean and nicely laid out. It's a very convenient location, one block walk to Mass Ave to the closest corner store or to grab a cab or the T. The living room is very comfortable for 4-5 people, and the condo overall is very well appointed and colorful. Dave was a great host and very easy to work with - he even left a bottle of wine and checked-in with me to make sure we go in ok. I would absolutely recommend and/or stay here again.

Wonderful thanksgiving in Boston

We enjoyed our thanksgiving in this great unit. It was clean and well funished. The queen bed was extremely comfortable. The closets had plenty of room This unit felt big. There were 4 of us staying here, we never felt crammed. The owner advised what was available in the kitchen and I was able to cook a thanksgiving dinner by buying a disposable roasting pan and a small crock pot that we brought from home.
The location was great. It was a quick walk to the T. We parked our car in a 24 hr garage when we got there and didn't move it until it was time to load up and leave. Buy a week pass for the T. It was the most inexpensive and efficient way to get around. We walked the Freedom Trail, dined at La Summa in the North End, saw a NBA game at the Garden, toured the Samuel Adams Brewey, visited Fenway Park (ate at The Bleachers Bar) and enjoyed the shops of Newberry Street on Black Friday. We bought some groceries at Shaws which is part of the Prudential Center and can be walked to. It is a decent sized grocery store with a good selection of items.
The owner was great to work with. He answered all my questions, purchased a new coffee pot before our arrival and checked on us during our stay to see if everything was ok. I would stay here again if I returned to Boston and would recommend the unit to family and friends that visit Boston. - Thank you for everything!

Notes The Barnes Mansion is a gut renovated historic building in the Back Bay. It is on the Garden Level, i.e., about 4 feet above the floor of the unit. The unit gets lots of sun though its 7 windows.

Notes:
I am happy to help out with your stay and make some arrangements. I have a house manual including some suggested restaurants and other services. There is a reasonably priced sports massage/therapy/physical training facility a couple of blocks away. I have various outdoor gear and I would be willing to share for free or a small fee depending on what it is. Note that most of it is kept offsite, so this would be less likely for a last minute booking. Examples includes bicycles, tents, ski gear (though not skis or snowboards due to liability). There is an iron in the unit but no board (though I guess that could be arranged).
