LOVELY HOUSE SURROUNDED BY NATURE

  • 5 of 5
We loved our weekend gateway at Casa Manana!. The house exceeded our expectations and the nature that surrounds is amazing. There are no other houses next to the property and we never felt concern about privacy nor security. The house is very well kept, clean and we really appreciate the fresh floral arrangements in all the tables and bathrooms, as well the attentiveness of our host, Joyce. Even when we booked the house with a very short notice, she made sure that everything was perfect upon our arrival, including fresh fruit, bread, coffee and milk. Before, during and even after our stay, Joyce kept in touch with us to be certain that we had a pleasant stay. There is an on-site housekeeper, and she helped us twice, providing a strainer for juice and lightning the oven.

The social area of the house (living room, dining, room and kitchen) opens to a refreshing tiled pool and gives the sense of the house as part of the surrounding nature. The three master bedrooms are well spaced, with comfortables beds, big closets, high ceilings and A/C.

After our experience, we have included Casa Manana in our list of places to come back in the future

PERFECT TROPICAL VACATION

  • 5 of 5
What you see in the photos is what you get.. custom furnishing and modern appliances tucked away in the middle of a rainforest paradise. The extras that can't be captured on photo is endless... We had the most gracious and helpful host who helped us plan our trip from pre-departure plans, transportation needs, local amenities and etc. Her daughter coordinated our local tours and activities with the nicest folks in the area so that each experience leaves us with fun filled memories. Security is the least of our concern while staying at Casa Manana. Round the clock caretaker lives adjacent to the property so that assistance is accessible. You just get the feeling that you can relax and enjoy your surrounding, day in and out. It is conveniently located so that a short drive takes you right in the middle of town, the beach and to most of the tour groups meeting place. I thought that by the end of the week we would all be ready to go home but I was wrong. There were so many activities to do and each one gives you a different experience. Definitely recommended for any age group. Best all around accommodation and service.

GORGEOUS HOUSE; GRACIOUS HOST

  • 5 of 5
Casa Manana is an elegant, beautiful and comfortable home, absolutely conducive to relaxation. The floor plan open to the outdoors is amazing. The pool comes right into the living room! The main space has no walls to the outside yet the property feels private and protected surrounded by a fence, with 2 dogs and the housekeeper on the property. The 3 master bedrooms and attached bathrooms offer privacy, locks and a/c--a place to retreat as needed or to secure belongings. We awoke each morning to the sound of howler monkeys in the trees outside our windows and to find the occasional toad or iguana in the kitchen, and a toucan in the nearby branches. We felt immersed in the rain forest, yet very safe and well cared for.

Joyce is an amazing host. She stayed in touch with us all day as we encountered travel delays and offered valuable support and guidance. We arrived at 2 a.m. but felt so welcome by the housekeeper and a refrigerator Joyce had stocked with essentials so that breakfast awaited us the next morning. Joyce showed us around the town and local market which made it very easy to get oriented and to cook meals in the well-appointed kitchen. Her daughter, Victoria, helped us both before our arrival and during our trip, to arrange excursions and to locate amazing beaches. Sonia, at Uvita Tourist Center, assisted us in renting a car at a better price than I could find myself.

The area is stunning in its natural beauty and the people of Uvita and Dominical could not be kinder. It is a less touristy, more pristine, destination than Quepos, yet with all the resources you might need: fun activities, gorgeous beaches, decent restaurants, 2 grocery stores, a doctor's office and pharmacy. Be sure to rent a car with 4 wheel drive and a GPS. The house and many attractions are located on steep, dirt roads on the mountains which ascend from the beach. There are no addresses in most of Costa Rica, so you need to program the GPS by the name of nearby landmarks. Check the time of the tides before heading to area beaches--at high tide the beach disappears and you need to plan ahead or move quickly! At that time, it is perfect to return to Casa Manana for a warm shower, cold drink, and a dip in the pool!

THE PERFECT TROPICAL PARADISE GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
Back home in Canada for less than a week and still thinking fondly about Casa Mañana in Uvita, Costa Rica. This tropical paradise has an open-air concept: common area for the kitchen, living and dining room with a lovely tiled pool that extends into the house. It is beautifully furnished and puts you in touch with nature's flora and fauna at every turn. From the house we had visits from a 3-toed sloth, capuchin and howler monkeys, toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, frogs, toads, Jesus Christ lizards, geckos, and iguanas (and we saw even more creatures during our day trips). The bedrooms are all very spacious and comfortable with nicely appointed ensuite bathrooms. The property is gated and fenced for security that is augmented by the housekeeper and her family who live in quarters adjacent to, but not infringing on the privacy of this luxury home. The owner also has two wonderful "guard" dogs named Amber and Daisy who roam the property and are real sweeties, but do their job to ensure that you have a safe stay. Having said this, Costa Rica is, and Uvita even more so, a very safe country. Now for the owner: Joyce, and her daughter Victoria, made our stay memorable. Joyce ensured that the fridge was stocked and met us upon our late arrival with her signature banana bread in hand, accompanied by the housekeeper and her young adult son. Throughout our stay, Joyce was always accessible to help with information about sightseeing, shopping, restaurants (Villa Leonora had great food and access to Playa Ballena included with meal), and attractions. Victoria went out of her way to help set up some of the most memorable excursions we could have imagined. Zip-lining (Osa Mountain), snorkelling (Cano Island), hiking in national forests (Corcovado), surfing (Playa Hermosa) - you name it and the Pacific southwest coast of Costa Rica has it all. Beaches to die for and with no crowds or hassles from vendors etc. The town of Uvita has everything you need in a small town (medical, groceries, bakery, banks, hardware, gas station, bars, market, and restaurants). A big thumbs up to Joyce's Casa Mañana!

PERFECT PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
We loved Casa Manana! Joyce was great and very easy to work with. The house is easily accessible because it isn't too far up the mountain. We had an SUV but didn't need 4 wheel drive or anything to get to the house. The 3 bedroom/bathroom suites are very private and very spacious. The bathrooms are large with large closets also. The outdoor living area was really nice and we took advantage of the pool multiple times per day! There is plenty of space to hang out as a group to cook, eat, swim and relax. Can't wait to go back!

MAGICAL RAIN FOREST GETAWAY!!!!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Casa Manana for 10 days and wish we could have stayed for 10 more days. The house and pool far exceeded our expectations. The bedrooms and bathrooms were beautiful and the open air living room and kitchen overlooking the surrounding jungle were truly amazing. Being able to swim in our private pool while watching monkeys climb in the trees was so cool. The owner Joyce was the best host and made sure our visit was a success. She even had the fridge stocked with fresh fruit, milk, and bread. The house was well maintained and clean. The beds were made and bathrooms were cleaned by the on-site caretakers every day who were very pleasant. There is plenty to do nearby. The house is surrounded by a pristine jungle. We can't wait to come back some day.

Map

The exotic colorful tropical gardens surrounding this property are an ongoing passion of mine. Palms, ferns, cordylines, crotons, gingers, torch gingers, shampoo gingers and many verities of ornamental. Including my prized collection of over 40 different heliconias.

Casa Manana is very secluded, surrounded by jungle but only ½ mile off the main highway. White face and howler monkeys frequent the property plus sloths, coatimundis, toucans, a variety of birds and whatever else happens by. And is a short distance from the beach.

Other Activities: Shelling, Wildlife viewing, boating, kayaking
