Tampaksiring Villa Rental Photos and Description
Villa, 3 Bedroom Suites, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Your magical Balinese vacation begins immediately upon arrival at the Villa, where you will be greeted with fresh flowers and a welcome juice prepared by your personal cook. Stroll through the organic garden and view the traditional, active family temple and twenty-five daily offerings of fruit, flowers, and incense, or relax in the luxuriously appointed private villa. Go for a swim in your private pool. Your stay at the villa includes a delicious breakfast, prepared by a cook who is on call daily to cook lunches and dinners (additional fee).
There are 3 suites in the main house. The master suite has a king sized bed and private bath with a tub, shower and bidet. The Balinese Suite and Lotus Suite each have a king sized bed, and share an adjoining bath with a tub, shower and bidet. There is a queen sized convertible bed in the living room. For parties of 6 or more, our Temple Suite is available, with a queen sized bed, a kitchenette, and a bathroom with a shower.
The villa grounds are spacious, and private, with over half of the property devoted to productive, organic fruit and vegetable gardens. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with a gazebo and beautifully lit pathways (perfect for wedding ceremonies).
Less touristy than the rest of Bali, our villa is nestled in a friendly village just 10 minutes outside of Central Ubud. Set in the foothills, with a landscape dominated by lush, green rice field terraces, temperatures in our neighborhood are generally 15 degrees cooler than the weather in Bali‘s coastal villages. There is no heating or air conditioning in the villa, because it is entirely unnecessary. The climate is perfectly comfortable year-round.
This is your chance to experience the REAL Bali, and get a glimpse into the life of a Balinese native. Each year our neighborhood temple has a celebration, and the procession passes right by the gazebo on our property. Our Balinese neighbors will be delighted to show you secret swimming holes, a waterfall, temple ruins, and local sites, that you would never find without a Balinese guide.
When you are ready to see the sights, your driver awaits, with recommendations for a diverse range of popular attractions as well as local secrets. Drive into Central Ubud on a scenic background—a beautiful 10 minute drive. Once in Ubud, you can enjoy lunch at Kafe or Bali Buddha, stroll through town, visit Monkey Forest, see rice fields being planted, or watch a Balinese weaver making cloth. Your driver will be waiting for you when you are ready to go back to the villa.
Water has special religious significance to Bali’s Hindus, and our villa is located near many of the sacred water sites, such as Lake Batur, Bali’s largest lake. 5577-foot Mount Batur, which is still an active volcano, is located in the caldera that contains Lake Batur. A key 10th-century temple, Pura Ulun Danu Batur, is dedicated to the goddess of the lake. The temple is built over one of the many hot springs said to possess curative powers. Visit the Elephant Sanctuary, and watch the elephants—and baby elephants—bathe in the pond. You’ll also have a chance to feed the elephants fruits and vegetables, which they’ll take right out of your hand. Also nearby is Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave. The cave is carved into the cliff face, and is close to 1,000 years old. There are two square pools by the caves, with carvings of female figures spouting water.
From the natural beauty and spiritual energy of sacred temples, to healing spa and hot spring experiences or active mountain biking, hiking, and river adventures, there is something among Bali’s attractions for every visitor to fall in love with.

About The Owner
We are Michael & Ketut Taylor, an American / Balinese couple. We are passionate about organic farming and permaculture. We lived in this home for a few years with our young daughter, so it's truly a family home. Our Balinese neighbors will be delighted to show you a side of Bali you wouldn't experience without a local guide.
The Owner purchased this villa in 2007
Why The Owner chose Tampaksiring
We love this neighborhood because it is truly Balinese. It was important for Ketut to have a family temple, so we built a beautiful temple on the villa grounds. From our home you can walk to temple ruins and swimming holes. It's surrounded by rice fields, and the weather is perfect year round. It's close to Ubud, so it's easy to go into town for lunch or a yoga class.
