Good value, comfortable, terrific view
My wife and I spent over a week in this spacious, 2nd floor, ocean view condo. It was a wonderful experience in every regard. This is a corner unit, so lanai wraps around in an "L" with large trees for privacy on the side - probably preferable to the center units. View from lanai, master bed, and living area is of waves crashing on black lava shoreline about 20 meters away, sound is hypnotic although thunderous when surf is up.
Unit is comfortable and welcoming. It has one king bed and one queen, both fine. Both baths were clean and in good working order, with washer/dryer tucked away in the larger bath. Kitchen and eating bar were terrific, remarkably well stocked: cookware, utensils, china, crystal, silverware, appliances, storage containers, cooking basics, spices, and many cleaning supplies. Lots of towels and bedding, all in good condition.
Listing was accurate with realistic photos. Booking process was easy. Owner was friendly in emails and provided good tips for scuba and snorkeling. Our damage deposit was returned by check within a week of departure. No problems.
Gated entry for vehicles increases security. Parking is easy and convenient (even with our huge vehicle.) Keauhou shopping center is just a few steep blocks away - less than 5 minutes drive. Its grocery store exceeded our expectations.
Excellent snorkeling is a short 5 minute walk to the west. Downtown Kona is a pretty 10-15 minute drive, although there can be traffic congestion at "commute times". Access to the main highway is fairly convenient.
Our two best restaurant experiences were at Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill and Sam Choy's (which is very close and also makes a great Mai Tai.) We found Jack's Dive Locker to be a very professional scuba provider.
We would stay here again without question and would recommend it to others. It should work well for 2 couples or a family of 4. Just be aware there is one easy flight of stairs but no elevator.
