Large (180 sq. m. / 1900 sq. ft.), serene apartment surrounded by palm trees in the historic center of Opatija. The apartment is the ground of floor of a 19th-century Hapsburg-era house. While located in a secluded, quiet spot, the apartment is only street over from Opatija's main, sea-side thoroughfare, and is only steps from beaches, cafes, restaurants etc. Although recently renovated, the apartment is steeped in family history, including much of the furniture and artwork that has been in the apartment since it was acquired in 1946 by a former diplomat/local lawyer and his wife, a French language professor whose grandchildren are the current owners.
As indicated by the provided floorplan, the apartment has a very large living/dining/tv room area with windows on three sides and access to the garden; as well as three bedrooms - two with queen-sized beds, and a child-friendly room with four single beds. The apartment also enjoys an eat-in kitchen and 1 and 1/2 bathrooms. Facing a pedestrian-only street, the apartment is accessible by driveway from behind. There is parking in the driveway for at least one car (and possibly two). No car is necessary for exploring beautiful Opatija, but the apartment is also a perfect base for day trips to Istria and nearby islands.
The apartment includes access on three sides to newly landscaped gardens which include an outdoor dining area.
There is no AC as the apartment is naturally cool and protected, and the current owners all spent their childhood summers there in comfort.
