History of the House:
Truly a Piece of history,
The main level of this home was originally located in Tennessee and was build in the late 1800's. The Logs were dismantled, transported and reassembled in their current location in 1982.
The Home has completely remodeled over the past 2 years. All of the heart pine for the floors walls and beams were salvaged from a large Cotton mill dismantle in South Carolina while the chestnut and oak barn board came from several barns dismantled north of Weaverville.
The furniture in the house is a collection of new pieces (from Theodore and Alexander, Old Hickory, Ralph Lauren, etc.) and antique pieces from around the area.
We have had a wonderful time collecting the art work and decorations you will find in this home.
Since we have owned this home it has become a passion for us. We have fallen in love with the area and the people here. Great care has been taken to create a unique and comfortable living space. We are only able to use the home during the winter season, and we hope very much that you can enjoy it during it's prime season.

We live in Canada on lake of the woods. We love the outdoors.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
Our family has been involved in the furniture business and having been to the market in highpoint a number of times we had explored the area. We loved the mountain styles, and the breathtaking nature in the area. When we found Wolf laurel we were amazed. We began our home search very much wanting an old feeling Antique log home. Something with history.
We wanted to get away from the bitter cold of the Canadian prairie winters, and to have a vacation spot our whole family could enjoy.
When we stay here, it feels like taking a trip back in time. A simple time. The stress is gone. There is plenty to do in the area, but some of the best times are just laying around the house. A book by the fireplace, a cigar on the porch, unwinding in the claw foot tub or the steam, just slowing down and relaxing.
Scott and Christa, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at your lovely home. Rustic, yet modern, in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The sunsets were absolutely stunning! The house was clean and provided everything I needed. Excellent kitchen which was fully equipped. Even the one day with the water supply issue did not dampen my enjoyment. I also enjoyed the Nature Trail leading to the Appalachian Trail...saw a lot of deer! I hope to come back again. The perfect place to stay to get away from it all!!
What a beautiful home! We were attending a wedding in the area and almost didn't want to go to it because we didn't want to leave this house. We had a great hike around the neighborhood, loved cooking in the kitchen, enjoyed a non-stop fire, and slept great! The details of the house are amazing, even the upstairs shower is worth mentioning.
Everything was clean and so welcoming upon arrival, I would not stay anywhere else if visiting this area again. And for what we paid, it was a total value.
Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
We stayed at the cabin for 6 weeks and really enjoyed it. The beds and linens were very high quailty and very comfortable. The furniture was all leather and very nice. When you stay as long as we did the little things matter. Like all the above and having a very well stocked kitchen for cooking and eating. We had a great time sitting outside looking at he bonfire.
The herbs outside of the door was a nice touch. The weight room was great for us.
I quess one of the best parts was the quietness and just being with nature. We saw a lot of deer and turkeys right outside our window. Did not see a bear but a lot of people said that they did. Our neighbors, if you want to call them that being we really could not see their place, Charlie, Bobbie and Leann, was very helpful to us.
If you are looking to get away and just enjoy nature and quiet time you will love the cabin.
I would describe it this way, it is a very old farmhouse that has been renovated with very high quality furnishings and professional decorated , very rustic but very livable.
If you have always wanted to stay in a cabin in the mountains this is it.
This home is rustic, but has modern amenities, excellent location, weather was great....and the homeowner very nice and accommodation.....we will definitely return.....
We spent a long weekend in this authentic and comfortably furnished log cabin. We enjoyed the cool temperatures and views throughout Wolf Laurel. There are generous areas to enjoy meals and reading.
Nothing is lacking for your complete comfort: comfortable bed, great clawfoot tub, and a spacious shower. The kitchen is well equipped. The cabin was clean and well lit and situated on a quiet lane.
Thank you, Scott for your welcoming hospitality!
My family and I traveled to Wolf Laurel for the first time in July of this year. It is so beautiful, tranquil and convenient. We golfed, hiked and even had a campfire in July. Wow. We liked it so much we went back again and plan to do so in the near future. The cabin is beautifully renovated with attention to detail, while preserving the original character of an old log home. The surrounding lot is peaceful and green. While we were in a gated golf community, we felt like we were on our own at the top of the mountain. My kids love the fire pit and my husband and I love shopping locally (great local farmers markets) and cooking in the wonderfully appointed kitchen. We were delighted to have Asheville a short ride away and the commute to the cabin couldn't be easier. We rent a lot and have traveled extensively, the property is well appointed, tastefully decorated, and very clean. I would highly recommend it (though I hate having to share)!!
