From the moment you walk through the door, Big Horn is home and your large group of family and friends will not want for thing. Professionally decorated with high end furnishings that capture a comfortable and rustic elegance, Big Horn can easily accommodate 20 guests among 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. Every effort has been made to overlook nothing. Leave your hairdryer at home, there is one in every bathroom! One can't help be anything but comfortable among the three floors spread over almost 7,000 square feet. And, not to mention, by far the best and most spectacular, unobstructed views of the valley, Pineview Lake and the Wasatch Mountain Range Trapper's Ridge has to offer.........Heaven.
Carefully laid out with large, open gathering areas on each of the three floors insures no one misses a thing. All furnishings and linens chosen for their high end quality, beauty and comfort. Fully stocked kitchen, gas grill, two gas fireplaces, media room, ping pong table room, pool table, private hot tub.....the list goes on and on!
Imagine arriving back home to Big Horn after an amazing day of skiing on the best powder anywhere. Dry all your gear in the huge laundry room with hanging rack and cubbies so all ready for the next day. Summer days might find you all enjoying one of the many outdoor activities the area has to offer; hiking, biking, fishing, climbing, boating, horseback riding, or even 4 wheeling. You will have access to the Trapper's Ridge Clubhouse amenities offering swimming pool, extra large outdoor hot tub, indoor gym and gathering area with tv, ping pong table and small kitchen.
Big Horn has plenty more to entertain. Watch a movie or big game in the huge media room with giant flat screen and surround sound. Enjoy a fire while gathered around the basement bar waiting your turn to shoot on our custom pool table. Or, in an entirely separate room, organize your own ping pong tournament. But for those times of pure relaxation, the private hot tub could be the order of the night with stars shining in the sky and lights twinkle in the valley, Snowbasin in the distance and night time skiers making their way down Wolf Mountain.
Trapper's Ridge within Eden Valley simply cannot be beat for location. At under an hour from Salt Lake Airport, take your pick of three awesome ski resorts within about 20 minutes of Big Horn. Snowbasin, is consistently recognized as one of the best of the best and site of several events in the 2002 Winter Olympic games. Powder Mountain spans over 7,000 acres of gorgeous terrain and boasts 500 inches of fresh powder a season. No man made snow here! And you can catch a shuttle to Powder about 5 minutes from the house. Wolf Mountain, a favorite of the locals, is the perfect place to learn to ski or snowboard. For snowmobiling, nearby Monte Cristo simply cannot be beat. This will be a trip not to be forgotten.
Our family is made up of many spread out from down south in Georgia to South Carolina, Texas, Idaho, and Utah. We find great joy in owning properties we manage and share for vacation rentals in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; Lake Burton in North Georgia;, Lake Lure, North Carolina; Fripp Island, South Carolina; New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and two in Eden Valley, Utah, at Trapper's Ridge.
Debbie Kuhlhorst purchased this house in 2007
It is not by chance our family enjoys not one, but two homes in Eden Valley. Just outside the spectacular Ogden Canyon is where our father was born and raised. It was here he learned the value of family, hard work, and perseverance. From his windows he enjoyed views of the same gorgeous mountains you will from yours. Though life and circumstance eventually landed Dad far from these mountains, these mountains never left him. Coming ‘back home’ to this valley was always a dream of his. He wanted us, his children, who grew up in the south, to know our heritage and have the opportunity to experience and appreciate the beauty of his childhood home as he does. It was for this reason he bought two, gorgeous homes in Trapper’s Ridge. What a gift! And it is our pleasure to share this gift with you. Our hope is that the memories you make because, by chance, you chose to be our guests stay with you for many years to come.
There simply is no better place that offers what this valley can. Eden is a quiet and comfortable (no stop lights here!), yet boasts close proximity to Salt Lake City and Ogden just the other side of the canyon. Several great restaurants, a fabulous market, golf, a lake and river, and every summer activity imaginable, even hot air ballooning. Spectacular winters offering some of the most amazing powder imaginable. Concerts, theatre, rodeos, festivals and more.
The property at Big Horn was beautiful and suited our needs perfectly. We were a group of 14 and we all had plenty of space in a wonderful setting. Debbie was communicative and welcoming and I would definitely love to come back.
I stayed here in February with a total of about 10 of us. The house more than met our expectations on all levels. From the start to the end was a very smooth transaction. The house looks exactly like the pictures and the location is ideal for a very short drive to the slopes. I would recommend this house to any large group to stay in.
A total of 15 of us (four families) shared this house in February for our annual ski trip. Snowbasin is about 20 minutes from the house, and Wolf Creek (small, but the kids liked it for night skiing) is even closer. We did not make it to Powder Mountain during the week we were there.
There are so many places to "be" in this house; there are 3 large TV areas, including a huge media room on the lower level. The kids, all teen boys, spent most of their time on the lower level, either in the media room or playing pool or ping pong. There are 2 large bedrooms on the lower level with private, but not en suite, bathrooms.
Most of the adults spent evenings together on the main level preparing meals and cheering on the Olympic athletes. The couch and chairs on the main level are very comfortable, and the TV can be seen from the dining table as well. The kitchen was very well-stocked with everything we needed to cook for 15 people. Each of the large bedrooms on the main floor had an en suite bathroom, and there was a powder room on this level, too. The laundry room is immense and there was plenty of room to hang ski jackets and to organize for the next day's skiing.
The boys all slept on the top level where there is a huge bunk room and 2 queen bedrooms. There is a large TV/gathering area, but the kids spent most of their time downstairs.
The house is beautifully decorated and has so many nice touches. The beds were very, very comfortable and cozy and were made up with soft, luxurious linens. The house feels warm and welcoming and we made it our own for the week. There are lovely views of the mountains from every room.
The owner, Debbie, is very responsive and concerned that her guests have a perfectly clean and well-maintained home in which to stay. We would definitely stay here again, and I'd love to see the house and the surrounding area in summer. There are a number of outside seating areas that would be truly spectacular in the summer.
We love Snowbasin not just for winter skiing, but summer activities, too. Summer concerts, BBQ's, fine dining, gondola rides to top for breathtaking views. Mountain biking is AMAZING there and Lance and Brody in the pro shop are experts at setting everyone up for a ride that meets whatever level requested. Powder Mountain, in the warmer months, offers all terrain tours on their rock crawlers; giant open air all terrain Powzilla or Ski Rex vehicles. In winter, check out their Snowcat powder expedition trips. Ogden is just the other side of the canyon and has available all one would imagine in town. Historic 25th Street, offering unique shopping and dining, is 16 miles/30 min. from Big Horn/Train Museum and Egyptian Theater awesome. The 75 year old Ogden Days Rodeo in July features the best Cowboys and Cowgirls from around the country and is a charming a GREAT time! Salt Lake is a fabulous town offering bike rentals for ease of travel around downtown. Beautiful parks, great shopping, cool restaurants and bars, and various attractions, including Lagoon Amusement Park which is a longstanding tradition just outside of Salt Lake.
