Lots of extra space and just steps away from the beach.• 3 bedroom home, 1 King, 1 Queen, 1 Double and 4 Twin Beds. Sleeps 8• Sleep up to 16 people when you rent Knole Guest House just next door.• 2.5 bathrooms• Fully stocked kitchen• 1 fireplace• Beach path to the ocean• Comfortable decks where you can listen to the ocean• WIFI• Full size washer and dryer.• Hot Tub• Pet-friendly.Up to 2 well-behaved medium sized dogs maximum. Right next door is the Knole Guest House. Book both homes to sleep up to 16.
About Kathy Mullen

Elaine and Arthur Jack Sackville-West IIII purchased the land in 1997. Jack is a retired Air Force engineer and an architect. He and W\Elaine designed both buildings. In 1999 they moved from their lake home and began building. BJ&R, Ray Bonney, built the guesthouse weather tight while Elaine and Jack built the barn as storage for their household goods. While living in their travel trailer, they finished the guesthouse and shop. In 2001 Ray built the house weather tight. This time the used some subcontractors, but Jack designed and built the kitchen and oak cabinet and workstation to Elaine's specifications. Elaine created the stained glass. Together they built and enjoyed their home.

What makes this house unique

The original Knole House is an English country house in the town of Seven Oaks in west Kent England. It is reputed to be a calendar house, having 365 rooms, 52 staircases, 12 entrances and 7 courtyards. The house was built between 1456 and 1486 and owned by King Henry VIII in 1538. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, in 1566 it came into the possession of her cousin Thomas Sackville, 1st Earl of Dorset, whose descendants the Earl and Dukes of Dorset and Barons Sackville have lived there since 1603. Today the house is in the care of the National Trust but the Lord Sackville-West family still considers more than half the house as their home and they still own the gardens and surrounding estate. The house was pictured in the film, 'The Other Boleyn Girl'. In our entry hall is a picture of Knole House and brass rubbing of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn done by Elaine and Jack during their visit to England and Knole House in 1983 where they met Lord and Lady Sackville-West.

Knole House is a perfect getaway spot. The house is gorgeous and is accented by elegant stained glass windows which were designed and created by the owner. The house contains all of the amenities including a washer and dryer. There is a private "kid nest" above the garage which has been designed with children in mind; it is called the Kite Room and has four twin beds which allows each child his/her private space. The home has a nice view of the ocean--especially from the second story. It is an easy walk from the house to the beach where a number of activities are available including beachcombing, castle building out of driftwood, strolls along the beach, and razor clam digging. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to another visit!

We've ome to Long Beach for the past 8 years. We have never stayed in the same house twice, but we will be staying at the Knole house from now on. It fit our needs perfectly. There was plenty of space for all our guests, and there was so much to do at the house to keep all the kids entertained and the adults happy too. We loved it.

Clean house, great proximity, fantastic amenities, Sunshine + Good kite flying winds. Wow, couldn't be much better, considering the bald eagle perched next to the dunes, the red tailed hawk on the tree, the deer roaming in the dune grass, and the flickers visiting us each morning. My only regret was having to leave.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Knole House. The house is gorgeous with wonderful views of the ocean from the 2nd floor. The kitchen was better stocked than my own kitchen! Beds are very comfortable, and the spacious master bathrooms are amazing. We had a great weekend away at this special home, and would recommend it to anyone.
