Historical things:
The oldest record in which Biberach is mentioned as 'Biberaha' dates back to the September of the year 1222. The literature of the 19th century is also occasionally known as a considerably older record, allegedly from the year 787, however, it is not traceable and therefore cannot be regarded as a piece of evidence for such an early mentioning. The record of 1222 recognizes far-reaching rights of the Gengenbach abbey in Biberach. It is also similarly proven for the neighboring town of Zell and other municipalities for this time. The monastic rights refer primarily to the more extensive levy of unbearably high taxes, not only by today's standard.
