Located on the foothills of Golfe-Juan between Cannes and Antibes, minutes from the center of the village and the beach, la Pokade was built and designed in the finest French Riviera tradition starting with its facade crafted of local sienna stucco and its red tile roof. The beautifully landscaped grounds feature a terraced garden with a variety of tropical flowers and plants including palm, almond and olive trees, cactus, lavender and many other flowering shrubs and plants. Down a flight of stairs below the entrance is a large infinity pool surrounded by a stone terrace as well as other open and covered terraces with ample outdoor lounging and dining furniture. Wherever you decide to relax, you'll enjoy beautiful and peaceful views of the garden. This five bedrooms property boasts all modern comforts and conveniences including ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioned rooms, high-speed Internet access, cable television, DVD player and music system. Free local and international telephone.

Surroundings: The bay of Golfe-Juan, nestled between the Cap of Antibes and the Îles de Lérins in front of Cannes, is well protected from the winds. A wide range of golf courses and seaside activities is on offer, from walking or lazing about on the sandy beaches, to visiting old harbours and medieval ramparts and many museums or other cultural activities. Here you'll find a full range of shops, services, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and weekly open-air markets and antiquities shops. And within easy driving distance in a 3 miles radius are the larger towns of Juan les Pins, Antibes and Cannes. Other delightful French Riviera towns and villages, such as Mougins, Biot or Saint Paul de Vence are also easy ½ day trips.

Pokade setting: The two-story house has been designed with great style and flair and equipped with all comforts and conveniences. The décor combines comfortable contemporary furnishings accented by a palette of colorful walls and a variety of antique pieces. And the property boasts all modern comforts and conveniences including air-conditioned rooms, high-speed Internet access, cable television, DVD player and music system. Stairs from the main entrance lead down to the gracious open-plan living-dining room with almond walls and terra cotta tile floors. A rattan sofa, loveseats and several easy chairs are grouped around an antique coffee table in front of the fireplace. Across the room is the dining area with farm oak table and dining chairs for 10 people. French doors open to the pool area and the covered dining terrace with teakwood dining tables and chairs.

Getting there: Pokade is easily accessible by:

-- Air - Nice Cote d’Azur International airport is 11.8 miles or 25mn away by car

-- Train - Cannes or Antibes train stations are 15 mn away by car (about 3 miles) and well connected to EuroRail (TGV trains)

-- Car -- the A8 highway is about 3 miles away with easy connection to Italy, Paris and the rest of Provence.

About Michel Pommier

Although living in the US since 1979, I always wanted to go back to the Riviera, in general, and to the village of Golfe-Juan, in particular, where I spent endless summers with my family when I was growing up in France. Since 2006, I am enjoying La Pokade 2 to 3 months a year. Between sailing, skiing, hiking and golfing, little time remains to relax but reliving his childhood 'souvenirs' is fun for a happy retiree.

Why Michel Pommier chose Golfe Juan

An opportunity stroke in 2005 when my cousin sent me pictures of a provencal house nested on the hills above Golfe in a peaceful and very private setting but only minutes away from the buzz of Antibes, Juan les Pins and Cannes. Keeping the old walls and the original character of the property, I had the house entirely rebuilt, an infinity pool was added and a new soothing garden was created. Since then friends and family are joining me every year when I am done there. A sure sign that they love the place!

What makes this villa unique

The seclusion that La Pokade offers after a day at the beach, golfing or visiting the surroundings, is a gem. Noise is reduced to hearing the crickets or the birds signing, or the wind in the 'pins parasols'. The property offers total privacy and allows real rest. Kids have a safe environment to play and families can gather on the terraces around the pool or in the summer kitchen for memorable moments.

Villa Pokade is located on the hill above Golfe-Juan. The bay of Golfe-Juan, nestled between the Cap of Antibes and the Îles de Lérins in front of Cannes, is well protected from the winds. Thirteen challenging golf courses are within a 15 miles radius (the golf guide of Provence-Cote d'Azur is available at the house) and a wide range of seaside activities is on offer, from walking or lazing about on the sandy beaches, to sailing or visiting old harbours and medieval villages. Within easy driving distance are the larger French Riviera towns of Juan les Pins (2 miles), Antibes (3 miles), Cannes (3 miles) and Monaco (30 miles). Other delightful Cote d’Azur towns and villages, such as Mougins, Biot or Saint Paul de Vence are also less than 1/2 hour away. Golfe-Juan is centrally located on the Riviera and offers easy access to Nice (main international airport), Italy, Monaco, St. Tropez and Provence. The villa is approximately one mile from the sandy beach of Golfe-Juan and its amenities, or one mile from Vallauris famous for its potteries and Picasso museum.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (Euro) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • Payment in US$ can be arranged upon request
  • A 25% deposit is required to secure the booking dates with the balance due 6 weeks before arrival. A security deposit of 1000 Euros is requested, payable with the balance, which is refundable within 2 weeks of departure after deduction of electricity and water consumption (both metered) and assuming no damage, breakage or missing items. The cleaning fee of 200 euros is due in cash the day of arrival. Usage of telephone for local and international calls is free, as well as WiFi/Internet connection.
  • Discounts for stays over two weeks:
    - Stay of three (3) weeks = minus 15%
    - Stay of four (4) weeks = minus 25% (already shown in rate table)

Notes: Cooks of all abilities will enjoy spacious stone counters, a large center island, colorful tile work, fine appliances and a full complement of cookware, utensils, dishes, glasses and cutlery. Boules set, volley ball, and snorkeling equipment are available. The infinity swimming pool is 18' x 40' (5,5 x 11 meter) and is equipped with an alarm system. It overlooks the garden. Supplementary charges: Water and electricity in accordance with consumption (meters are read upon arrival and departure) and laundry/cleaning fee of 200€ payable in cash the day of arrival.

Nous avons choisi cette maison en raison du nombre de chambres et de l'espace cuisine/salle à manger. Nous avons découvert une très belle propriété récemment rénovée avec goût, bien équipée et située dans un endroit calme de Golfe Juan. La maison possède de grandes chambres avec chacune leur salle de bain privée. L'aire de vie autour de la cuisine est très grand et facilite les réunions familiales. Même en hiver, le jardin était très agréable avec son aménagement. En plus de la piscine, il y a une cuisine d'été qui doit être fort sympatique durant l'été.
Nous avons tous très apprécié ce séjour à La Pokade.

We spent 15 wonderful days at the villa La Pokade. The villa is a great place to stay with all the comfort needed, the best and state of the art equipment, a californian kitchen, large living room, 4 bedrooms each with its own character, 4 functional bathrooms, a nice terrasse to have meals with a view on the pool and a very nicely designed garden -this garden was a delight for the kids.
To these excellent features, it is worth adding that Internet and TV worked perfectly well.

Our stay was great and if we return to the Côte d'Azur, we certainly return to La Pokade!
Owner's Response: The villa was created with the family comfort in mind. La Pokade is indeed a peaceful setting after a busy day at the beach and/or sightseeing. Just for the record, for extended families, we have an additional independent 5th bedroom with ensuite bathroom behind the summer kitchen.
