Hello: My name is John, If you need something while in Grand Lake I can get it! I am the 'Go to Guy' in Grand Lake!
The Owner purchased this house in 2000
Totally enjoyed my time spent here. I stayed with other family members. Nice place with lots of room. With the two levels you can have privacy if need be. The deck wraps around with lots of room. Beautiful and relaxing for morning and evening coffee and drinks. Enjoyed being able to watch the traffic coming into town and enjoyed having such a nice place in town. I would definitely recommend this place to stay and plan to come back with family in the future. Close to Estes Park, Grand Lake, and much site seeing. We came out to ride motorcycles with family. Perfect location.
We were in Grand Lake for my sister's 50th birthday. As there was quite a group of us for her birthday extra accommodations were needed. We were very excited to be in close proximity of her home, but were even more pleased when we arrived and found the spacious living areas and the GREAT deck. We used these living areas as our gathering place to have breakfast and evening meals as we were very busy during the day doing activities. This place was indescribably perfect for us, because of the beauty of the Grand Lake area, the positioning of the house ( from the deck we could see what was happening on the lake and in the town), and the centralized location. We travelled to Estes Park, Kremling (water rafting), Winter Park (Alpine sliding), Leadville etc.. viewing the beautiful countryside by motorcycles and some by vehicle. I would recommend this home to anyone, it was great for us!!
Being a local in need of additional living quarters while family came to visit, I was elated when I saw the "Octogon house" on vrbo.com. I often wondered what the house and view were like. We were pleasently surprised at how spacious and open this house was. Each floor provided plenty of room for watching tv, playing cards and conversation. Resting on the deck with the beautiful view was relaxing. The house was very clean and provided all the amenitites we expected for sleeping, showering and cooking. With the house in town everything was easily accessible allowing the kids to journey on their own. I am looking forward to renting again this summer when my family comes to visit. Walk to Adam's Falls, Trail Ridge drive to Estes Park, burgers at the Dairy King and shopping the stores were among our favorite activities.
We knew this was an older mountain home based on the photographs in VRBO and didn't expect a 5 star hotel. We were very pleased with the number of people it could accomodate and there was a large living room which allowed for family gathering. It was close enough to town which I really liked, and across from a market, which was very convenient. The stables were across the street and our girls enjoying going down and petting / feeding the horses. The kids also enjoyed the "go-karts" across the street as well. The boys enjoyed the park which was directly next to us and could be viewed from the deck, and our dog loved it too. The view was phenominal and we enjoyed the evening sky and chilly early mornings on the deck. The owner was easy to contact and communicate with. My only comment which could possibly help other guests is that the owner could maybe create some stepping stones which could go down the side hill to the road to make the walk to town quicker, for it seemed we took this route alot. We discovered all tv's were in working order and loved watched the Olympics every evening after our daily adventure. He didn't have the hot tub listed as a feature so we weren't disappointed that it wasn't working at the time and didn't miss being able to use it. For the price, this was alot of house and we enjoyed our stay.
This house was very dirty, and not well maintained. Dishes dirty in the cupboard, thick coating of dust on higher shelves, frig. Mouse droppings in cabinets. Downstairs deck had a broken hot tub partially filled with filthy water. Deck had animal droppings (dog or racoon). TV in lower bedroom did not work. Owner was very responsive to fix things but place was not as listed. It did have a nice view.
Located 2 miles from Trailridge Road (the western entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park). Wonderful place to photograph wildlife. Hiking, hunting and fishing haven.
