About Us: I am a retired middle school Social Studies teacher, and John is a retired teacher. We moved to Spokane 23 years ago to paddle the rivers, cross-country ski, and enjoy the amenities of our beautiful city.
John and I are suckers for great old houses, and we were so lucky to find this one in our own neighborhood. It has been furnished with antiques, collectibles and is perfect for small parties. Our goal in furnishing these apartments was to make them the type of accommodation that we would love to stay in when visiting northwest cities.
Our guests tell us that the restful ambiance, the porch and yard, and the walking neighborhood make this a true home away from home.
We stayed in the 2-Br apartment for 11 days. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The unit was spacious and inviting. The house's close proximity to the Garland District is a big plus. Mary and John were great hosts - and on top of everything! We look forward to staying there again!
We make a trip to Spokane every year to visit family and each year we have stayed at a hotel. NO MORE HOTELS. We have found the ideal place to stay. In fact, we would plan our trip around the availability. This apartment in the Garland district is charming and a little quaint, which I loved. It is within walking distance of little shops and restaurants, and just a stroll around the neighborhood will take you back to simpler times. If you are looking for a great vacation spot, this is it. We had such an enjoyable, relaxing week. Thank you for making this possible.
The place was clean and a great bargain compared to an extended stay hotel. We fit 4 adults and 5 kids into this place. It was cramped, but we managed. Anything that needed attention was readily fixed by the owner.
We didn't have the best weather, so we were stuck indoors for 2 of our 3 days in this beautiful, well apportioned, quite comfortable home. As someone else said, the best part of this property is Mary. We called her to see about borrowing an umbrella and had it within 25 minutes! Thank you ma'am!!!
Pros: very comfy mattress, super-clean through-out, wonderfully comfortable bathtub, cutest kitchen with great picture window, nice neighborhood.
Cons: uncomfortable futon as a couch (just the nature of some futons). We spent a fair amount of time in the kitchen, but always moved to the couch in the family room.
My husband and I with our 17 month old daughter rented the 1 bedroom unit so we could check out spokane and the surrounding areas. Great location. Within 20 mins to mead and spokane valley. The house is on the corner of a busy street so their was some road noise but nothing to bad. The house was very comfy and well stocked. The only reason I didn't give the 1 bedroom unit 5 out of 5 stars is do to the fact the floors were so noisy and same with the bedroom and bathroom doors. Fixed the door squeaks with good ol' WD40 wish the same could have been done with the floors.
Overall I would rent the unit again but not with our daughter do to the noise and trouble sleeping because of it. If you have a little one I would get the two bedroom so the child won't be woken up when you are walking around.
We spent 5 nights over Christmas at this charming Garland home. We needed a couple of extra bedrooms to make sure everyone would get a good night's sleep while visiting family in the area and this home filled the bill perfectly. The location is great - central to the north side of town with easy access to the main streets. The home is exceptionally well-stocked, too. The kitchen is cute and has pretty much everything one might need to prepare full meals.
Mary was wonderful to work with - responsive and helpful in all ways. The house was warm when we arrived and the Christmas lights on the front porch were charming. We'd recommend this home to anyone looking for an alternative to a hotel room when visiting Spokane.
