Villa, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10-16)

This 2 story custom home was built to take advantage of this magical view site in 1964, and it has a classic 'mid-century' beach house feel! There's no describing in words the feeling of space the 60 plus feet of glass and panoramic view the Great Room provides. It's like being in the Goodyear Blimp! Whether cooking, dining, relaxing in front of the fireplace or watching TV, you can always see the moving water! I am the second owner, and the house retains most of the original touches! Sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean, a salt-air breeze in your face with a drink in your hand, you'll feel like you're floating! 'Hmmmm, I wonder what the In-Landers are doing?'

In the evening, in addition to the Seals and Sea Lions, you can hear the crickets and frogs of the adjacent creek (which ends at Little Corona Beach).

The house is approx. 4000 s. f. on 2 floors. The upper floor is level with the street entry, easy to access through huge mahogany and glass double doors. You can see the ocean from the courtyard entrance :). The downstairs has 2 ocean view bedrooms, 1 full bath and large ocean view living room with fireplace and a separate kitchen. This is a great set up for large (or 2) families, because the kids can hang out on another floor from their parents! This gives the adults added peace and quiet....a real vacation treat.

We are minutes walk to the body surfing, snorkeling and sunbathing of Little or Big Corona, or Crystal Cove Beaches and CDM Village's Shopping and Dining. Our neighborhood abuts The Pelican Hill Resort Golf Course, and has rare private beach access to the private ShoreCliffs beach just south of Little Corona. Ride bikes (or skateboards...we do!) to Inspiration Point, Overlook Point, Balboa Island or along the coastal trails of Crystal Cove State Park to Laguna Beach. Fantastic multi-mile open space hiking and mountain biking up El Moro, with big ocean views is accessed from Crystal Cove as well (without getting in your car). Launch our 2 person ocean kayak from the protected harbor beach at the Cove, less than a 5 minute drive. We kayak up to the Balboa Pavilion year round.

Disneyland, Anaheim Stadium, Knott's Berry Farm and attractions are less than 30 minutes away by car. We are close to Airports: OC=10 minutes, Long Beach Airport 25 min, LAX 45 min! San Diego Zoo is just over 1 hour drive. It's 5 minutes by car south to the beaches, art and restaurants of Laguna Beach (including the famous Montage Resort and Spa. The great waves of Huntington Beach, home of the World Surfing Championships are 10 minutes north on Pacific Coast Highway 'PCH'.

About Mr. Hill

I am the proud father of a bunch of great kids, My oldest is going to UCLA this fall. I'm from a large family...I'm one of eight...my mom has 25 grandchildren. We love to have family and friends over! Grew up on the coast here in SoCal and moved to Europe, then NYC after graduating from Berkeley. Having traveled extensively, I'm lucky to have great friends from around the world that love to visit California. Their jaws always drop when they walk into this house! I also have view homes in SF Bay Area, Lake Tahoe and on Lake Huron in Michigan. Why Mr. Hill chose Corona del Mar

Since my childhood, Newport and Corona Del Mar were 'the place to be' in my family! I have fond memories of the beach, waves and water! Riding the Balboa Ferry boat to the Balboa Fun Zone for ice cream and Ferris Wheel rides and boating to Catalina Island are favorites. The good old days....

I got my Open Water Scuba Diving Certification on the beach here when I was 14. Surfing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Fishing, Snorkeling and Sailing are all things we love to do...within minutes from the house! The Christmas Season is fantastic here, especially the week of the boat 'Parade of Lights'. The sunny days are often in the high 60's - low 70's, with clear skies and spectacular sunset views over Catalina Island! The intoxicating smell of the ocean air, mixed with the smell of burning wood of beach firepits and fireplaces is not to be missed. The ski areas of the SoCal Mountains are a 50-90 minute drive, offering you the chance to ski and surf on the same winter day! Bummer, right?

What makes this villa unique

We enjoy serene views of the moving water, the coastline and Catalina Island throughout the day and evening, watching the boats come and go...while the ocean breeze blows through the house. I love to cook and entertain, and it's a joy to do it while gazing out at the Blue Pacific!!! Especially while Sinatra croons...

From our Great Room, you can view the Fireworks Displays of San Pedro, Catalina, Long Beach, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Newport Dunes and Emerald Bay!!!

(In fact, you can hear the Disneyland Fireworks from our home during many months of the year)

Yes...the view is greater than 180'! Yes, there is a 'private' beach within walking distance! I have stayed at this property on numerous occasions...with family and for 'romantic' extended weekends with spouse. This home is located in an exclusive neighborhood in Corona Del Mar. It is up in the hills off of Poppy Drive and is simply a wonderful place to stay and relax. The home is unassuming from the street entrance...but once one walks through the front door everything changes. The ocean assaults your view the second once crossing the threshold. The top floor is bathed in floor-to-ceiling glass from corner-to-corner (and more!). Open the windows...smell the fresh ocean air...feel and subtle breeze throughout the day...and be amazed by how quiet your surroundings are! It is sooooooo peaceful. Watch as the sun rises and sets from your perch a couple of hundred feet above sea level and walk down to great shops and restaurants in Corona Del Mar. Restaurants like: Banderas, Quiet Woman and a great sushi/Japanese restaurant (can't remember name) are a short walk down the hill from the front door. Super easy access to markets, freeways, John Wayne/Orange County Airport, Disneyland, Newport Beach Mall, Newport Pier and Los Angeles Angels Stadium. For parents with children at UC Irvine this property would make for a great place to stay while visiting a college student. This home is impeccably maintained and well cared for. The house is well appointed with beautiful furniture...not the typical IKEA quality one might find in a beach rental. I am running out of superlatives to use in describing this unique and stunning property. You will not find a better property (in Corona Del Mar) for the vacation value than this one! Period.
