Vieques Island House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 pull-out Futon, sleeps up to 6 people

Casa Esperanza is located in the quaint fishing village of Esperanza on the south coast which definitely is the buzzing tourist side of the island with beaches such as Sun Bay, Esperanza Beach, Media Luna, Navio, and also restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance from the house.

This newly decorated rental is located a little off the street, so there is private parking inside the lot and there is also a large shady backyard with patio furniture and hammocks to laze around in enjoying the breeze and garden or use the grill grill to cook your party a feast. A new outdoor covered porch has been added along with an additional bathroom.

There is new living room furniture and the kitchen has also been updated with new linens, supplies, and cookware. The bedrooms and bathroom have also been redone with new furniture, mattresses, and also higher quality linens. Some of the amenities include Gas BBQ, hammock, fully equipped kitchen, A/C in the bedrooms for your sleeping comfort, ceiling and floor fans throughout the house to keep the breezes flowing, HI-DEF TV w/ satellite and DVD player, Radio/CD Player, guest book with travel information, a Book, CD and DVD library, fresh linens, New Washing Machine, beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, a 5 -10 min walk to the beach, restaurants, and shops, and also complimentary pick up and delivery service to the house with information and maps, and directions. If you do stay with us, you will treated to some insider information since I have working, on this island, in the hospitality industry for 17 years and have been renting out houses (mine, and other people's) for 6 years and my husband is a native VIequense who grew up here. We would truly help to make your vacation an enjoyable one.

If you have any questions, or need more info please do not hesitate to get ahold of me. Would love to see you on vacation and introduce you to the amazing island of Vieques.

Guestbook comments from the owner
While our trip here was not intended for a family vacation(Mother's funeral), Michelle, you made our arrival and stay as pleasant as possible under the circumstances. For that, me and my whole family are very grateful...

We plan to return for a vacation shortly and will definitely stay with you again.

Thanks, once again for everything,

I came to Vieques 22 years ago and fell in love with the local people, culture, and island living and still to this day, I consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in the world to have found my true home in VIeques. On the island, I also met my husband Juan who is a local VIequense Artist and actually grew up here throughout his youth and now we have a son, Leonardo, who is doing the same. Have been in the hospitality industry for most of my life so am very good at taking care of my guests and trying to cater to their needs and also with mine and my husband's love for the island, we can set you off to either see all the beautiful sites and beaches or if you are adventurous, we can direct you on your own adventure hiking, kayaking. or just exploring off the beaten track.

Look forward to meeting you on vacation.

Michelle Lannoo purchased this house in 1965

This house has been in my husband's family for over 30 years and went through a major renovation in Summer/Fall of 2010 to convert the house into the Casa Esperanza Rental. It is now the finished product of much love, blood, sweat, and tears.

Casa Esperanza is 2 biggest attributes are its location which is walkable to beaches, restaurants, stores, bars, and gift shops so a car is a benefit, but you can also spend some of your time on foot or bike and only rent a vehicle for part of your vacation to save some money and actually enjoy the outdoors and experience the local area.

The other highlight of Casa Esperanza is the private covered back patio which offers an outside area and tropical garden almost as big as the common area in the house, to relax, enjoy, cook. eat, drink and hear the beautiful sounds of the nature. Can be used during the day or even at night since there is outdoor lighting.

Michelle was great to work with, she kept in contact regarding our arrival and was helpful with all the details. The house is cute, clean and full of everything to make our stay easy and enjoyable, coffee, sugar, and toiletries, to name a few. She took the time to explain how to get to the best beaches and how to arrange tours. Michelle made it so very easy to fit in a lot of fun activities in just a few days.
I would love to return...and plan to, and without a doubt would recommend anyone, including my closest friends, to book a stay at Casa Esperanza!

We just got back from a truly lovely stay at Casa Esperanza on Vieques. If you are debating about whether to go to this island or not - just do it! You won't regret your choice.
Casa Esperanza was a great place to stay for us. Walking distance to nearby restaurants, boat dock, etc, but not so close that noise is a problem. We loved the town of Esperanza. It is quiet and quaint. Even the touristy areas are not over-crowded.
Casa Esperanza is just as represented here - we found it clean, well stocked, and peaceful. The a/c in the bedroom was very nice to have at night!
Michelle was very helpful in her knowledge of the area and recommendations. Her restaurant recommendations were wonderful and definitely helped make our trip better!
You will want a car to get around, many of the nicest beaches are not close enough to walk. However, we found that the first couple of days we were fine without a car - we checked out the things within walking distance, went on a fishing boat, and hung out at the house. Then a couple of days later we rented a car and explored the rest of the island.

Check out Vieques and Casa Esperanza for a truly lovely vacation!

We spent a lovely month at the house, and had friends and family visit. Very comfy for 4 people. Outdoor bathroom was a great addition. House could use a little better ventilation. Maybe a screen on the front door and plastic off the master bedroom window. We agree with almost all the good things we read in the other reviews. Except: We found the bio-bay tour to be a bust. With a little moonlight, we saw NO bio-luminescense. We could have skipped this tour and not missed it. We found El Quenepo to be overpriced and the help to be unattentive, even surly. Maybe we didn't look rich enough. We MUCH prefered Next Course. Beautiful setting, great food. Also Mamasongas was funky, good food and great iguana watching. Bring a doggy bag for Linda, and she will love you forever. We loaded the beach chairs and the cooler in the car and hit the beaches every day. Sun Bay, Media Luna, Chivas and Caracas were our favorites, mainly because the roads to the others were horrible, but all were Gorgeous. Per Michelle's recommendation we rented a car from Acevedo at half the cost of Avis. Thanks Michelle, Juan and Nardo.

Owner's Response: Warren and Anne-

Thanks so much for staying with us at Casa Esperanza and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We have already begun to work on those suggestions and have the screen company coming this week to deal with the back windows changed to screens and looking to buy a front screen door. I am sorry for your other issues with bio bay and some of the restaurants, but since I have no control other those things, all I can do is apologize and let my other guests know.

Thanks again,

Cute, Quaint & low maintenance.

Just perfect for my family. My wife & 3 kids. 4,2,&1 year old. It's small size was perfect for us. The 2 older kids shared a bed in one room while we had the baby in a small crib in our room. The kids loved the big TV and dvd player for the post beach sun exhausted naps. We loved the full kitchen and bbq with nice patio where we prepared 95% of all our meals while on the island. AC in rooms was great when those sun burns really heated us up! They had a perfect cooler and kids toys we used everyday. We went to the beaches everyday all day. Made breakfast and lots of sandwiches for the day at the house. After the beach the house was perfectly comfortable for relaxing & making food. I loved the outdoor shower personally. It was very low maintenance, with 3 kids that's #1. The owners and neighbor are lovely people, very warm and friendly. I would definitely recommend. In esperanza the only recommended food is El Quenepo - fantastic if your pockets are deep enough. Tin box was awesome also. We bought a lot of groceries and went to the fruit & veg market and fish market, this house was perfect for that. Large full fridge, functional space. etc. Loved it!! I want to come back tomorrow. Most places wouldn't accomodate kids, which stinks. People who accomodate kids are usually always great people. This place was perfect for that, it was nice and comfy. No reason to nit pick the details when your in paradise, everything worked just fine. Thanks Michelle & Juan!

My husband and I were attending a wedding on the island and needed an affordable option for our 7 day duration. It was our second visit to the island and we simply love it on Vieques! We loved it because is was nestled in a residential area that is close to a lot of bars and restaurants. We HIGHLY recommend El Quenepo if you are looking for a more upscale dining experience while on the island, and it's in walking distance from the the house. Casa Esperanza is conveniently located and just a quick drive to town or to any of the amazing beaches on the island. Navio and La Plata among our favorite places to soak in the sun. We loved this rental because we could also make meals, cook on the grill and hang out with the adorable pup who lives next door. All in all very happy with this property and the owner (who was responsive to our needs, but gave us privacy the entire time we stayed). If you are looking for tropical island ocean views and fancy swimming pools then this isn't the property for you, obviously you pay a premium price for those kinds of properties. If you are more like my husband and I, just needing a clean, safe place to sleep and relax among the locals then this is a perfect match.

My wife and I spent six days at Casa Esperanza and are excited to come back in the future. All of the other reviews adequately portray the character and beauty of the house…very private, extremely comfortable, and well equipped. Michelle has created a beautiful escape for couples and families alike and her knowledge of the island (a 23 year resident) is valuable in planning what to do each day. Because the island is small, even the most distant beach can be reached in 30-40 minutes with some mode of transportation and the closest beach is a 20 minutes walk away. Depending on your interest you may prefer to eat out every night, but my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed cooking at the house with local ingrediants while enjoying the beautiful backyard. And regarding transportation…to see most of the island (which we did in roughly 3 days) you will need some form of transportation. Of course a car is the first choice that comes to mind but we found that with the condition of some of the back roads and the lack of fuel during the high season…a scooter was the way to go. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND A SCOOTER!! If you have any hesitation about spending some time at Casa Esperanza, with 80+ reviews to prove the value of this house, I assure you it will never want to leave. Thank you Michelle and we hope to see you again in the near future!

We do strive to aid our guests in not only enjoying their vacation, but also to point out things that many of us locals take for granted. I am glad that you used our advice and it helped in making your vacation a memorable one. Look forward to seeing you on your next adventure.
