Rent this beautifully restored Gold Country Hotel for your special event. It's PERFECT for Weddings, Parties, Craft Retreats, Meetings and much more! This is one of the only three story hotels still standing in the Motherlode. Dutch Flat is a piece of living history from the era of the California Gold Rush, having been one of California Gold Country's most important mining towns as well as a stage station.

Dutch Flat is located midway between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe on Interstate 80 in the High Sierras. Dutch Flat is 28 miles east of Auburn just 1.5 miles off Hwy. 80. It is 72 miles west of Reno. The elevation is 3200 feet. We are located 30 minutes from the beautiful towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley and just 25 minutes west of world class ski resorts.

The hotel features a gourmet kitchen, original bar, music room with pianos, guitars, banjos and more, pool table, large screen HD TV w/ surround sound and wireless Internet access. The first floor is handicap accessible and has two additional half baths on the first floor.

Space is available at the historic Odd Fellows Lodge just across the street for meetings or classes.

About The Owner

My husband Tom and I never imagined that our winter drive through the Sierras in Northern California eight years ago, in search of a small getaway cabin, would result in the discovery, purchase and complete restoration of this beautiful, sleeping giant. Our journey through the long restoration phase was exciting, trying, and sometimes daunting but, it was also fun, educational, adventurous and life changing.

The building seemed to call to us as we drove up Main Street for the first time. It was in severe disrepair and had been all but abandoned for over 25 years. During the next two years after that winter drive, we would work alongside our three man carpenter team day and night when we could; do everything from landscaping to plumbing installation to help complete the monumental task of resurrecting the soul of this quaint little town. We are proud to be a part of restoring this historic landmark that represents a significant part of the California Gold Rush era.

My husband Tom is a Home Inspector in the Bay Area and continues to work until he is able to retire to Dutch Flat.

I am a former Bay Area business owner, part time professional opera singer, crafter, chef wannabe, seamstress and oh yeah, Innkeeper.

Dutch Flat is a beautiful place to live and visit. It is my dream to share the creative energy that thrives in this amazing place.

Why The Owner chose Dutch Flat

Our slogan is: Long ago... but not so far away. We chose Dutch Flat because of the picturesque village setting. It is a non-tourist town and very peaceful. Dutch Flat is a SAFE family oriented place and had I known of it when I was raising my children, I would have raised them in Dutch Flat.

What makes this estate unique

Meandering through the quaint little village of Dutch Flat is like stepping back in time. Various shaped picket fences surround the charming, Gold Country cottages throughout the town. No one would ever guess that Dutch Flat was once the largest town in Placer County. Dutch Flat is registered as a National Historic Landmark.

Dutch Flat is conveniently located half way between Sacramento and Reno just 1.5 miles off Hwy. 80. We are just 25 minutes from Sugar Bowl Ski Resort and 45 minutes away from Squaw Valley. Also, located just 30 minutes away are the historic Gold Country towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Dutch Flat several times. It is immaculate, cozy, the grounds are beautiful, the beds scrumptious, furnishings are museum quality, food is delicious, service unbeatable, inn keepers delightful. Romantic & outdoorsy, I can recommend this beautiful B&B with the utmost praise. A small quaint town, with big city qualities. It is perfect for family gatherings, weddings and retreats. If there were more stars I would give them more! Treat yourself to an unforgettable journey.
