Gorgeous Cottage very close to Longwood, Winterthur and the Wyatt Museum

The Cottages at Elizabeth Gardens are two beautiful properties in a gorgeous landscaped property, in the tiny town of Centreville, Delaware. Five of us stayed over a rainy labor day -- my parents and grandmother in the main cottage (two bedrooms) and my husband and I in the smaller one (one bedroom). The pictures do not do htis place justice -- the owners have a real talent for design, landscape and interior, and everything is spotless, clean and seemingly brand new. The grounds are lush and quirky (we loved the frog and koi ponds, and our little waterfall, and though the owners live on the property, both places are private - we never saw them. Longwood Gardens is about 15 minutes away, Winterthur less than two miles. After leaving those large public gardens, coming back to our own private one was lovely.
We didn't do much cooking, but had we wanted to the kitchens were stocked with every pan and utensil possible. The linens were high quality and furniture very comfortable. The little town over Centreville, really just a crossroads, is a short walk up the road -- we had a great lunch at the cafe on the corner and enjoyed exploring the liquor/wine store -- tons of bottles in one teeny little house.
We highly recommend these cottages over any hotel in the area and hope to be back soon!
