In recent years, the Belair neighbourhood in the parish of St. Philip has seen several new residential developments. Many of the homes are available as vacation rentals offering visitors a chance to experience the tranquility of St. Philip. They are built in a variety of styles and stylishly furnished. Spacious living areas ensure that you never feel crowded. The homes are generally quite large and can accommodate families or small groups of friends.Perhaps one of the great benefits of the vacation homes in St. Philip is that they offer an affordable accommodation option when staying in Barbados. The rugged, coastal scenery is breathtaking and you can watch the sun come up over the eastern atlantic ocean from the cliffside. Come and enjoy the warmth of this beautiful parish and its people.

10 minutes drive from the airport and easy access to the main highway.

10 minutes drive to Six Roads shopping complex where you will find Emerald City, a large well stocked supermarket, banks, post office, DVD rentals, clothing and shoe stores, gas station, Chefette (fast food pizza, burger, chicken and ice cream), and a chinese restaurant.

Guestbook comments from the owner
My girlfriend and I stayed here and had a wonderful time. Jane (the owner) is awesome - she went out of her way on not just a professional level but a personal level to make sure my girlfriend and I had a great time. Jane provided us with good places to eat, setup a car rental for us in minutes, and made sure that we got to the apartment easily after our long plane flight. Great service is the first type of thing you should be looking for when searching for vacation rentals online and Jane put in the work to prove that fact.

And the apartment itself was great too - close to the beach, very clean, safe, well-maintained. I couldn't complain about much. I was in paradise. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Barbados. I am sure I will have to book my trip a couple of months in advanced to secure a spot. Thanks!

PEACEFUL RETREAT, IN COZY NEIGHBOURHOOD.

  • 5 of 5
For the independent traveller, this apartment offers excellent value at a reasonable price. The communication with the owner was excellent and Lulu, the property manager, was super friendly and helpful. We really liked the information sheets provided by the owner about the apartment and its environment (restaurants and beaches nearby, where to buy food etc.) Lulu directed us to a nearby swimming hole called Shark's Hole, a really nice spot about 15 minutes away on foot. We had brought our snokeling gear and saw on another day several sea turtles at Worthing Beach and picked up some delicious and cheap tuna steaks at the Oistins fish market on the way back. I would also recommend driving up the East coast which is quite unspoiled and scenic. We really enjoyed our stay in Belair

BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN, AND SPACIOUS APARTMENT.

  • 4 of 5
By brother, my 5 year old son, and I stayed here for one week on the bottom floor apartment. The beauty and comfort of the apartment definitely added to our overall enjoyment of our stay in Barbados.

Pros:

Clean and well maintained and is nicely decorated.

Spacious with two large bedrooms (one of them with two beds) and two full bathrooms. The kitchen/dining room/living room area is also spacious.

Large covered front patio and large nicely landscaped front yard.

Equipped with beach and bath towels, beach chairs, pots, plates, cutlery, etc

Both the owner and manager are very friendly and helpful.

The location itself is nice. It's in a nice quiet residential neighborhood and is also only a block from the beach. (The water is too rough to swim in at that particular beach though).

Close to Crane Beach (a 20 minute walk if you walk fast) which is an incredibly gorgeous beach that is not too rough to swim in. By the way, if you go to Crane beach, jumping off the lowest ledge of the cliff into the water is a whole lot of fun!

Only one con:

If you don't rent a car and you plan on doing other things besides visiting the beach every day, then the location of the apartment is inconvenient. It's far out from many of the island's attractions and there are no grocery stores in walking distance (with the exception of a small convenience store). It is close to a bus stop but the bus only comes every hour (on the hour), is not always on time, only goes to Bridgetown, and takes at least 45 minutes to get there. If it were not for the inconvenience of the location without a car, I would give a 5 star rating instead of the 4 star.

Overall, the quality you get with the apartment gives you excellent value for your money.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to write a great review and describe what you enjoyed about the apartment and the neighbourhood.
The location of our apartment is one of the things we like the most about it as the island is becoming very congested and commercialized on the west and south coasts. Many of our guests choose to rent a car or engage a driver during their stay and enjoy being able to visit other parts of the island and return to their peaceful and relaxing home base in Belair. Most tours, cruises, shows, etc. pick up from the Crane Hotel which is a short cab ride away.
St. Philip still has the original charm and unspoiled beauty of the island and we hope it stays that way.

NICE PLACE AND REASONABLY PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET

  • 4 of 5
You can tell what a place is going to be like when the owner is very much on the ball with communicating with you from the offset. Everything we needed to know was answered by Jane beforehand extremely efficiently and professionally. The Property Manager Lulu was also extremely helpful, friendly and also a good point of contact during the stay. The place was nice and clean and had everything you require. Great balconies, breezy, great kitchen etc. Nice idea with the outside shower too. We didn't have a car at the beginning of our holiday, it can be quiet difficult to get around easily in the heat as the house is very much located in a residential area, even though the bus stop is approx 7 mins up the road. We did have a 2 year old with us and forgot our stroller! So, having a vehicle is advantageous as it is only a 10 min drive to/from the airport. There is no sea views from the house as it is blocked by the houses in the front nor is there a pool. We knew this to be the case beforehand, but still disappointing once you are there in the heat and beauty. However, I am sure this is reflected on the pricing of the apartments, so all in all we would still say that we got good value. The small beach 2 mins away is too rough to swim in but good to walk on. There is also a convenient store and bar near the bus stop. If all these things sound good then I would recommend Tamarack.

WHAT A DELIGHT!

  • 5 of 5
What a delight to arrive in paradise only to find that the bungalow we rented was as charming as the island itself. From the practicality of a fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer, two very good size bedrooms, and two full baths, to a patio that almost doubled the interior common space that amplified the sound of the crashing ocean waves only one short block from the house. The authenticity of staying in a neighborhood with all the accomplished locals really added to the richness of the experience...something that tourists who stay in the resorts just don't get to experience. The highlight, by far, was the fact that we could walk to secluded beaches only two minutes from the house, complete with unbelievable rock cliffs and cave-like features...and all accessible with the stair access to these pockets of paradise. The convenience of The Crane Resort and the public access to Crane Beach with great waves, clear water, and no undercurrent (and the only east coast beach where you can swim because the other east coast beaches are too rough for swimming) was priceless. Hint: when you're at the beach, make sure to take advantage of the beach delivery service offered by Cutters ( www.cutters.bb )....best flying fish sandwich and rum punch on the island! Thanks Roger! To top it off, Jane was a gracious host, always available for matters around the house or "insider" advice on activities on the island. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of housing options. We will definitely be back!

HIDDEN GEM IN BARBADOS SUPER CLOSE TO BEACH

  • 5 of 5
There are not enough words to describe our wonderful experience at Tamarack. Both the owner and property manager were extremely kind, attentive, and professional throughout our month long stay at the duplex. We traveled all the way from Oregon to Barbados with two young children and were thrilled with Tamarack's location (quiet upscale residential neighborhood, very friendly) and amenities were great (gourmet kitchen fully stocked, comfortable beds, plush towels, large flat screen tv, Wi-Fi, phone, etc) From lounging in the hammock to using the outdoor shower after the beach, Tamarack couldn't have met our needs better. Highly recommend renting a car to explore the island and bringing lots of snacks, coffee, toiletries, etc. as these items are expensive on Barbados. The best part is you may have green monkeys jumping from tree to tree looking for bananas as we did. Many thanks Jane and Lu, we will be back soon!

GREAT HOLIDAY!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and baby and I stayed here a week recently and we very much enjoyed it. The property manager was extremely helpful and prompt. For example when our kettle broke she had a new one waiting for us the same day when we got back to the apartment. The apartment is large enough for an entire family and the verandah is also very relaxing. The beaches nearby are beautiful and it is a short drive to either the west or east coasts. We would definitely recommend this holiday property to others!
